Parent: Shango
Giving: Life x3
Health: Vibrantly healthy
Element: Prokaryote
Stone: Spectrolite
Had any previous litters: No
Randomize Litter?: Yes for the first two (I'd love if the Peridot's "back spines" are kept though), no for the Pearl
Link to Conception Thread: Link
For easy reference, the stones (found here (click)):
Polished, blue-green Aquamarine (to be randomized) - The Aquamarine once belonged to a Pupil (+2) bizarre creature somewhat resembling an iguana. However, its skin was a dark pink-gray, its face shaped more like that of an alligator, its eyes catlike and bright green. Its feet were clawed, and it had a hard shell on its back.
Raw, deep green-yellow Peridot (to be randomized) - The Peridot once belonged to a Fledgling (+1) creature of unknown origins. This one was absolutely miniscule in build, but somewhat horse-like in general shape, its skin a bright magenta, its face slothlike with small, dark, birdlike eyes. Its feet ended in cloven hooves, and spines ran down its back. Its tail was like a horse's, too, though the hair began only halfway down.
Raw, natural-colored pearl (NOT to be randomized!) - The Pearl, though raw and lopsided, glows as if with health. It seems to be pink, white and yellow all at once, depending on how the light hits it, not unlike healthy, hairless skin that might flush or glow in different lights. It once belonged to a Fledgling (+1) hybrid, of once again rather odd origins: an Addax, and a Rhinoceros.
For the pearl:
Child Name: (to be determined)
Gender: Female
Species: ...so uhh. Diseased Horse x Thorny Devil lizard/Nicobar Pigeon/Smilodon Populator (saber-toothed tiger) -> x Addax x Black Rhinoceros
Appearance: A very large, bulky beast, forceful in both physical build and personality. She will be closer to the rhino size of the scale, her body covered in Thorny Devil thorns, with a heavy torso and thick, muscular legs. The scale-feathered forelimbs end in talons that might be birdlike were they not blunted and thick like hooves, and these feet have a hooflike covering beneath, like her life-giver's. Her hind limbs are more simply cloven-hoofed. More scale-like feathers (or are they feather-like scales?) tip her long tail and shroud her thick neck in a draping mane, as well as offering short wings able to offer a little balance and nothing more. Her head is crowned with long, slender, pointed horns, and her face bears two rhinoceros horns to boot--and if the thorns and two sets of horns weren't enough, a pair of saber teeth jut from her upper jaw, hanging over the lower by a large margin. Her nose is somewhere between the addax's and a cats, with clear delineation of a nose but nostrils that can flex and flare with soft skin around it. Her ears are distinctly like a rhino's. Her entire coloration is that of an Addax in summer: pale whites, creams and tans, with a few gray edges here and there. Her thick, rhino-like skin--studded with thorny devil thorns--often appears pinkish when she's warm or otherwise flushed. Her pearl gemstone only adds to this, a soft peachy-pink bordering on white, forming an almost skull-like shape over much of her face.

This conception was Successful! The litter will emerge June 29th.
Shango will not be able to conceive again until September 29th
Child Name: ???
Gender: Unknown (up to adopter to decide if it comes to know one)
Species: Hybrid - Diseased Horse/Thorny Devil/Nicobar Pigeon/Smilodon Populator x Alien Creature
Element: Prokaryote
Stone: Aquamarine (horns)
Description: Three feet tall at the shoulder, weighing some one hundred twenty pounds, this creature at first glance looks vaguely like an oriental dragon. Somewhat-scaly pink-gray hide sports thicker scales and scutes along the underside, and over the face and the front of its limbs. A hard, spiked shell covers its back, and long, thin spines, like an iguana's but elongated, stretch out along the head and neck. Glowing green eyes give way to an indistinct, white pupil. Feathering tufts the elbows, wrists, and tail. Two slight fangs jut over the lower jaw. The stone is a blue Aquamarine with green hints in brighter light, twisting back as two fairly medium-to-slender horns from the back of the skull. This Gembound will be omnivorous. Designed by CJ!
Child Name: ???
Gender: Unknown (up to adopter to decide if it comes to know one)
Species: Hybrid - Diseased Horse/Thorny Devil/Nicobar Pigeon/Smilodon Populator x Alien Creature
Element: Prokaryote
Stone: Peridot
Description: About three feet tall at the shoulder and weighing some hundred-fifty pounds, this animal is a bizarre hybrid. In appearance, it is much like its life-giver: almost leopard-like in coloring (though its skin is furless), with neon green-tinted feather-like scales forming manes, foot-feathering, and tail-feathering along with short, stunted, flight-incapable wings. The skull, fairly catlike, gives way to a distinctly sloth-like face with slightly jutting fangs, giving this Gembound a pretty adorable facial appearance. The long, thin, dark spines along its back along with the boot-like black markings, mane, and teardrop-markings on the face give it a sort of "punk rock" appearance. The stone is a rough Peridot spread over a small part of the abdomen, making laying flat on its stomach somewhat uncomfortable while providing weak protection to a small portion of the belly. Though its dentition is fairly omnivorous, this creature is entirely an herbivore.

I'm opening up adoption for the second and third characters! I am keeping the addax/rhino Pearl child. If Shango survives the Trial of Hydra, you'll have a CHILD OF A CHAMPION. If not, well. A fatherless orphan, lol.
Some requirements/requests:
- If Shango survives, I'd like the first thread to be together, and prefer activity between Shango and his kids down the road. It would be good development for him and he'd definitely take care of them... in his own way. That being said, if your kiddo is a loner they can absolutely leave: but I do want some interaction first!
- If Shango doesn't survive, I'd still prefer all 3 kids hatch fairly close together and meet, but from there anything's fair game.
- I prefer someone who will RP the character and not let it go inactive!
- In applications, the character itself will be the most important thing, but I'd prefer them to be pretty average dudes--not defined by some kinda batshit weird mentality (like their grandfather's...) etc.
So, without further ado, A FORM:
Code:
OOC Name:
Char #1 or Char #2? (Oriental Dragon-Ish or Punk Rock Cute Leopard?):
Gimme an overview of their personality, as you see it:
Brief (~200 word min.?) writing example for the character:
I definitely reserve the right not to adopt the chars out if I'm not totally satisfied with an application for 'em. I will try to pick adopters, assuming I've enough applications to pick from, by the hatching date. Thanks!

Char #1 or Char #2? (Oriental Dragon-Ish or Punk Rock Cute Leopard?): Punk Leopard (don't have a name for them yet)
Gimme an overview of their personality, as you see it: On the outside, they might appear to be a bundle of attitude and arrogance, swaggering around the caves as if they own the place, talking down at people, and generally being a bit of an idiot, but they mean good at heart. They like to try new things, dare to dream, throw themselves into potentially dangerous situations, as long as there's some sort of payout at the end. Or if someone dares them. Friends they keep close and their enemies as far from their life as possible. To the people they meet that are good to them, they are just as good back. Gentle and teasing, playful but extremely protective and caring. But to everyone else? To the villains and the real jerks? They'll be the ones to get the sharp tongue and an avalanche of insufferable attitude. And maybe some claws too. They don't seek out violence, but they certainly aren't against it, if it comes to that.
ie. punk rock daredevil that's actually super nice and will punch nazis
Brief (~200 word min.?) writing example for the character: There were a lot of gembounds around them, gathered to see what was going on in Polaris this time. Some contest, something or other and hopefully not something that would cause some new catastrophe. They kept trying to stretch their neck further to see over everyone's heads, but every time they did, some other huge animal got in the way. They let out a tsk of annoyance and continued trotting on, pushing through the crowd without a care. They felt something nip at their tail and they glanced back. A young wolf, eyes wide and fearful, had grabbed onto it like a lifeline. "Eddie? What's up?" The wolf quivered, eyes glancing this way and that, shivering when someone touched them gently. Realization flooded the hybrid's mind and they sighed, a little angry with themselves for forgetting. Eddie didn't like crowds. He didn't really like other gembounds in general, but he had found a companion in the hybrid.
"Oh, hey, buddy, sorry 'bout that! We can leave if you wanna?" The wolf pushed himself further until he was next to his friend, letting go of the feathered tail tip. "N-no, it's fine. I know you like this kinda thing. I'll stick with you." The hybrid stared at him, eyes narrowing with concern. He searched Eddie's face and saw nothing but fear and discomfort, but he seemed pretty sure of what he was saying. They had half of mind of ignoring him and pulling him out somewhere, but they trusted him and if he was okay, then it would be fine. "If you're sure, bud. If you need me, just let me know." As they continued, he draped one of his wings over the wolf and her felt the quivering stop.
Something smacked into their leg and they stumbled with a small curse, snapping their head down to see who'd run into them. A strange looking duck, perhaps a hybrid, four legs instead of two, six eyes, and a mane of bright feathers. It scrambled to its feet and glared up at them. "Watch where you're going, idiot!" The hybrid's lip curled and a low growl came to their throat. "Fuck off, ya ugly chicken." They pushed past the duck, making sure to give them a good wack with their tail as they disappeared into the crowd again with Eddie at their side. They leaned over to their friend a moment later. "Jeez, this is what I was tellin ya about! I swear, half the caves are filled with shithead morons like the dust rag back there." Eddie chuckled at that and nudged them playfully, looking much more at ease as they trotted on and the hybrid was just happy enough to lift his spirits a bit. Maybe they'd catch him a duck later to laugh about it more.

Char #1 or Char #2? (Oriental Dragon-Ish or Punk Rock Cute Leopard?): Punk Rock Legend (potentially named Paramore, unless Shango wants to name her)
Gimme an overview of their personality, as you see it: This hybrid isn't as smart as she'd like to think she is. And she thinks she's potentially a genuine genius. She tried to eat meat once, to be Edgy and Cool, and threw it back up. She consistently lays on her stomach despite the discomfort her gemstone brings her-- to look Edgy and Cool. She regularly falls off ledges in an attempt to play the part of a Mysterious Vigilante, forgetting that her wings are, in fact, completely useless.
Her specialties lie in two specific things; the first, hoarding. She enjoys taking things that distinctly aren't hers-- raiding the nests and dens of other gembounds or scrounging through the dirt in search for the ever-present Shinies --and stashing them away in a hidden location so that they were. She has no actual intention of doing anything with them, but she is fairly quick to get defensive and hostile if she thinks that her hoard might be in some kind of danger of being stolen.
The second thing she enjoys is making noises. Any noise. They fascinate her in a way; she likes to mimic words she's heard before, or phrases, or the sounds she hears naturally around the caves. What she likes to do with these noises involve, usually, pranks. The playful kind, of course-- this hybrid likely wouldn't intentionally try to enrage anyone or cause them harm if she could help it.
Unless they're mean. And hurting her friends.
Because let's face it, she wants to be a Mysterious Vigilante.
Brief (~200 word min.?) writing example for the character:
There was a clatter of rocks falling down the ledge of Monoceros. It was soon accompanied by the scuffling of feathered paws and a disgruntled yowl as a larger, feathered cat tried to climb the steep surface of a crag, her dysfunctional wings battering the air as if they were going to do anything at all.
On paper, this had been a great idea. The best, in fact, if she did say so herself. Which she did. If the hybrid could clamber up onto the top of this rock formation, she could have a vantage point, of sorts, to look over Monoceros. To keep an eye on everyone and everything within it; how little of a crowd that may be.
The issue was getting there.
The crag wasn't completely sheer, at least, but it was steep. The feathered hybrid worked her way up, bit by bit, getting closer and closer to the top where she could--
"Hey, uh, what are you doing?"
Her head lifted, pale-green eyes shooting through the speaker. It was a small, squat dog with a squashed face. His amethyst gemstone was planted firmly in a sort of gnarled horn protruding out of his forehead, though it looked like it was too big for his face. "Uh, I'm climbing?" The hybrid responded with clear confusion. Couldn't he see what she was doing?
There was a beat of silence. "Why?" The pug eventually asked.
"Because I gotta," she replied, hauling herself up over the ledge. She shook herself out with a low groan, looking around, and then down at the rotund little dog. "How did you even get up here?"
"There's a path, right there," he murmured quietly, nodding to a sleek, winding footpath leading right to where they stood. It seemed like the hybrid was far from the first to have had the same idea. But she may be the first to do it in such an impractical way. "I just followed the path."
"Well." The hybrid said, importantly. But she had no point. She had no rebuttal for this. She drew herself down a bit, frowning, and then flicked her tail back and forth. "... well! Heroes don't use paths."
"Ever?" The pug asked.
"Ever. I'm gonna keep watch now," she announced, proudly, and perched herself on the edge of the rock.
"... all right then," the dog said, shaking his head as he turned back to follow the path down.

Char #1 or Char #2? (Oriental Dragon-Ish or Punk Rock Cute Leopard?): oriental dragon-ish
Gimme an overview of their personality, as you see it: as a child, she is overall incredibly bossy, childish and mean, and this doesn't change when she gets older, despite maturing maybe a bit more. she is obsessed with her appearance and image and pushes others down metaphorical (and probably literal) mountains to make sure they know they are beneath her in both beauty and mind. she is incredibly persuasive and her tone is almost always one of sickly sweet honey, like a predator luring in its prey with a trap. she's a deal maker. she uses word-play and clever mind tricks to get what she wants, without ever telling an actual lie. she's definitely in a way flirtatious, though most of it is sweet nothings. she rarely lets herself get strictly attached to another being, though, that isn't saying it cant happen. its just rare. beneath that mysterious and glamorous exterior is a horrible, disgusting mess of insecurity and horrible cruelty, which she scares herself with sometimes. she holds it down, unsure why its so easy to hurt and move along.
Brief (~200 word min.?) writing example for the character: a loud, witch-like cackle sounded through the cave of orion like it never had before. full of cruel amusement and laced with a tinge of hilarious pity. "arent you precious!" the dragon cooed, before shifting back into her tone of unforgiving yet sweet judgement. "you, my dear, are a fool. you ask for such pathetic and trivial little things like my companionship? above all else? when you know none of it would even be real? is that what you want?" she hissed, the poor, smitten gembound shivering under her gaze. she only laughed more. "cute. sure, of course, darling, honey bear, let me tell you things you want to hear until you're useless to me, then i'll leave you behind, though of course i don't doubt that whats you want. pathetic, desperate gembound like you always do. think of something worthwhile you insecure little maggot." she growled, sitting back down, her bag of various trinkets clattering with her. the gembound spoke, ashamed, requesting something else. "treasures? now that i can work with, my good, shining crystal" she giggled, voice painfully sweet, only further stinging the poor gembound's heart with her cruel cupids arrow. "now... payment. tell me, what would you give up for directions to a treasure beyond your comprehension?"

Char #1 or Char #2? (Oriental Dragon-Ish or Punk Rock Cute Leopard?): Dragooon
Gimme an overview of their personality, as you see it:
As a young child, this gembound will stick close to their birthplace, not moving much. Though they do wish to explore one day. This gembound isn't aggressive, as much as they wish they were. They find themselves to be reluctant to hunt down any prey, because it would be taking a life. This gembound does not want to take lives. They are not particularly overly excited either, generally staying neutral with just about everyone they meet. Though they do make friends, they tend to shy away from those that aren't much like themselves.
As this gembound grows, they will become a drifter (as long as ic works with it), going wherever their heart takes them. They will not stay in one location for long, preferring to take to exploring every location (and even accidentally getting into situations along the way). Who knows if they ever get over their reluctance to hunt and eat meat, but it could happen, one day. They could become a collector of sorts. Of information, of gems, who knows? Just a collector. Perhaps one day they'll stick to one place, though their outlook on that is uncertain, and they seem to fit the drifter life more than sticking to one location.
Brief (~200 word min.?) writing example for the character: Going to call them Ketur for now
Ketur found themselves within a new place - green. Full of green, absolutely gorgeous green. Trees, shrubs, and even grass lined the place. It was much different then the location they visited before - though they were uncertain they wanted to go inside. From there, they could already smell the lessers that could fall prey to anyone's waiting jaws. Of course, the gembound themselves had no interest nor intent to hurt another in such a way, even if some would call it foolish. Maybe Ketur was a fool. So be it. They rather liked being a fool, in such cases. Deciding to take their first step inside, claws connected with grass. It was an unfamiliar feeling, but not one they pushed away.
Moving more into the place, claws gripped the grass. It was nice. They rather liked it. Ketur would be sure to visit this place in the future, when they cycled back around. The distant sound of a squeak caught their ear - upon turning, glowing green eyes caught sight of a mouse, red in color. Perhaps it hadn't spotted the wingless dragon yet, or they were so quiet it became unafraid. Ketur swallowed what saliva was in their mouth. Instinct was telling them to go after it, but they just couldn't. Their teeth tingled, even. Demanding they take down their prey - it was right there so close. So easy to take down.
Except they didn't do it.
Ketur found themselves running.
In the opposite direction.
