Lonely paws passed through the caves, white furs outstood the darker background as a female of red eyes and onyx adorning her head made her way through the caverns. Her expression was as cold as stone, but she wasn't under the surface, she was actually dying of fear as all these days she has been suffering from nightmares and dreams far from pleasant. Many were graphic showing her death and spooky stuff. And she didn't know what to do, so she found it pertinent to take a drink from the cold waters the river could give.

Her crimson eyes lurked the surroundings as she tried to hide her terror, those unsavory dreams made her easier to startle today. So she was prevented, ready to run away at the first signal of danger. Slowly she approached the border and carefully started to drink. Taking her time but keeping an eye on the surroundings in case of someone sneaking on her.

"I am lost..."

And while the wolf above drank, awake and haunted by nightmares, beneath the water of the river, the strange fish creature slept soundly. But, if one were to look, it would be hard to call it such. She was not resting, but merely floating in the water, moving just enough to keep herself from being swept away by the current of the river, bulbous eyes still open, staring sightlessly ahead. Sleeping.

Until the surface was disturbed by the wolf's tongue. And her shadow as well. Consciousness flooded back and her head tilted up to watch the creature. A land dweller...

The Orarian had made it clear to never trust land dwellers, for they would wipe out those that lurked underwater, if they could. And, for whatever dumb reason, Lamia trusted the Orarian. Perhaps because it was older or bigger or just because she was an idiot. Hard to tell which one it was. Even so, she could not help but wonder, soft voice echoing through the water, a language impossible to understand to those that did not dwell beneath the waves, eerie, but strangely beautiful. Are you trustworthy?

To greet or not to greet was the question now and Lamia decided that this time, perhaps just this once, she would speak to the land dwellers. Well, one of them.

Lamia adjusted her position and began to swim towards the surface. If the wolf was paying attention, they would see her far before she breached - the waters were, after all, clear as crystal. She continued to swim, up up up until, at last, one last stroke of her fins brought her head above the water. It wasn't exactly a magnificent breach, just a slow, soft breaking of the surface. Her hair, which refused to fall over her shoulders, even out of the water, began to wave slowly behind her, like creeping tendrils of kelp growing from the back of her skull.

She said nothing, for now, simply staring at the wolf, if she had remained where she was, wondering if this was, in any way, a good idea.

@Yurei

Lamia's voice can be understood by anyone related to fish or other fully aquatic creatures. If you aren't sure if your character would be able to understand, please feel free to ask.
