Kerberos was determined not to die OR listen to Usui. As much as Usui was probably right, the puppy was still a stubborn young thing, and he figured hanging out on the rock would be better than anything. He drew up his tail and did his best to keep it out of the water-- the snake scales were not well adapted to the cold. In fact, quite the opposite. It was the reason why he did not like the river, not even a little. It was cold and deep and evil and he could tell.

So instead, the puppy looked towards the shore and considered trying to push himself to it. He just needed one good shove, and then he could probably claw his way up on to land. He didn't care if he left that stupid lion to die in the river, though he wished he could eat the dumb thing instead of letting it drown. Something felt cruel in leaving Usui to die-- it was wrong. Eating him was right. Justifiable, somehow. His tail vibrated, twitching as he thought, churned through his brain. The red nosed head never let his eyes off of Usui, however. "Don't tell me what to do," he snarled, a low, quiet warning.

"One..."

The air didn't seem to settle down. He didn't know how to make it stop, and he honestly couldn't help it now. The air churned around him, wind ruffling his fur as the differences in heat tried to sort itself out. "Two," he took a deep breath and bunched his hind legs up against the rock, pressed his wide chest to the cold, slippery stone, and heaved with all his strength.

"NOW!!" His two other heads howled together; at the last moment, his left paw began to glow bright, vibrant red, his urge to escape powering a rather powerful dispel. His muscles working with the magic, he managed to make a fairly good jump towards the shore, and then his huge paws began to paddle back to the edge-- he wasn't the best swimmer, but he could make it, he thought-- as the river began to make his tail freeze up once more.

Usui realized that this thick headed gembound wasn’t going to listen to him. With a sigh, he realized that Kerberos was going to do his countdown again. One…two…would his magic hit him? Immediately, Usui disengaged from the rock and allowed himself to float down and away from Kerberos’ magic. The water washed over him with a cool, calming feeling and he knew he’d find his way back eventually – and he watched with a sigh as Kerberos hopped back onto land. “Eeya will teach you, s’long Kerberos” he yelled back at the pile of white fluff, still willing for Kerberos to learn, then he floated away, out of sight and out of Kerberos’ mind (if possible). He wasn’t too worried about his battle with that thing. In his mind, they’d both ended up in the water which was a win for him and that was enough for now.

The pup got to the edge of the water and clawed his way up, gasping for breath. One head turned back to snarl at Usui, but he was already gone, swept down the current. If it wasn't for the fact that he seemed so calm, the puppy might have though he had killed the lion some how. Perhaps he knew a secret to the icy waters-- or perhaps Kerberos had a weakness. His muzzles wrinkled up and he sneezed trice, before settling down on the shore and licking the wet from his thick coat. He shivered and tried once more to heat up the air, before falling asleep to rest a bit more.
