Zutar sat in the tunnel, already knowing what she was about to do. Zutar's mother gave life to her from a lost stone she had found. Zutar's mother was an owl, and when Zutar hatched, it was revealed that she was half cougar. Zutar grew up knowing her mother, and living with her in Eridanus. But Zutar never knew who her cougar parent was. So, she decided to do something smart, and maybe unheard of. Zutar was going to use hindsight on her own stone. Her aim was, that since her stone used to belong to her other cougar parent, she could see and hear them in her vision. It was a long shot, but worth it. She lifted one of her talons, gently touching the stone in her mouth. Zutar then let the vision come, her aim was to have a vision of her cougar parent.

The vision was strange and wobbly, flickering in and out like it was out of tune...

The sleeping body of... something was curled inside of a small den. It was about the size of a large dog but held no resemblance to one. At best, it could be described as some kind of alien: it had a mix of short fur and small scales, three pairs of eyes, a body that could walk on four legs or two, and rounded ears on top of its head. A jagged piece of obsidian jutted out from the top of its neck.

As was protocol, he woke at the sound of a brief alarm and took only moments to gather himself: stretch, yawn, think about how good a snack sounded... And then he was out. He was a fair sized creature, toned from years of grueling work—and such work started now. He was in a dusty room filled with many bones, some glimmering with the residue of black gunk clinging to and dripping off of of them as they were shuffled and moved. The creature in particular was clearing pathways as if preparing for something... it wasn't interesting work, but it was honest and simple, and left him in good standing with his Overseer.

Zutar did not understand this vision one bit. The creature she saw was clearly not her cougar parent. Did this vision have to do with her cougar parent? She was not sure, but she was determined to try again and see if she could get more out of her vision. She was determined to see a vision of her cougar parent, to at least hear their voice. She touched her stone in her mouth again, ready to focus on the next vision. She felt her magic working, ready and eager to see her parent. She was determined to see them, hear her cougar parent's voice. Yet, there was something else she hoped to see in her vision. How did her cougar parent die? She wanted to know, she deserved to know. She wanted to know as much as she could about her parent. She prayed that the vision would show her cougar parent, and why her cougar parent died.

The vision bubbled into focus again...

There were the sounds of shouting, distant screaming, steel clashing against steel; it was as if a war had broken out. The creature was here again, its many eyes wide and its mouth hung open in shock. He was running on four legs between many fighting bodies, seeking and searching for something. He transitioned to two legs as he reached the cave wall, bracing himself against the stone and his head turning, turning, turning—there was only chaos. Everything was so busy and so loud.

"Yanguil?" rang his voice as his eyes scanned the growing cloud of dust that rose from the fighting creatures. But before he could hear an answer, or see the body of the one he searched, a sword materialized from the chaos and pierced him through the heart. "Aagh!"

He crumpled, clutching his chest with his clawed hands, peering up to see who had harmed him.

"Yan...guil...?" he sputtered, struggling to speak through the pain. The other creature was just a shifting shadow in the vision, and it moved to tower over the obsidian. It said something, but the sound was garbled and distorted. Then it brought a mighty heel down upon the obsidian's face and used some sort of magic to shatter the stone that jutted out from the back of the creature's neck.

The vision ends abruptly.

Zutar's eyes widened at the vision. Then she realized something in the two visions. That creature she saw saw had the same stone just as her. Then she suddenly realized something else. This creature was the owner of her stone! It was hard to believe, but she believed it. Zutar was completely shocked. Then a question popped into her head. No not a question, but now surely a fact. There were creatures, before gembounds. Zutar was going to get to the bottom of this. This strange creature was also her parent! She needed to know. Why was her alien parent in a war. This name that her parent said in the second vision, surprised her. She knew one thing though. Yanguil killed her parent. Now she was fixated on her alien parent. She would get to the bottom of this.

Zutar was not going to fail this time. She was sure of it, Yanguil shattered her parent. No, no no! Her magic needed to work. She could feel it failing again. Goodness no. This could not be happening. She wish she could have felt the touch of her parent. Zutar had lost her mother, but for some reason she felt this strong connection to this alien, who she just saw. Zutar knew not even mother could explain this. But, she would not stop. She was meant to see this. She would find out about the past. She would find out who, what and what happened to her alien parent.

Zutar was determined to see who, what and what happened to her alien parent. Who was Yanguil, and why did Yanguil kill her parent?! Why was there a war going on?! So many unanswered questions, but she would not stop. Zutar was as strong as they came, and seeing her parent's stone shatter was heart wrenching. Fortunately this time, she felt her magic work. She expected to see a cougar, but instead she got this creature, who she found was her previous parent. Zutar touched her stone again. Zutar focused on the vision, wanting to know more. It was like watching a very something very entertaining, but very emotional. Zutar was quickly uncovering the truth, and the she already knew, now she knew for certain. The masters were hiding something. Aetius knew this as well, but she was dead because of it. Though, Zutar would not follow her mother's dreadful fate. She would uncover the truth, all of it. And the masters could not stop her.
