Hey all,

We are tentatively looking to add another Game Master to our roster.

Please note, being a Game Master on ORIGIN means that all of your actions and decisions on ORIGIN and the Discord represent our site; even those you make on other sites or other platforms still represent you, so if you deliberately troll or are toxic somewhere else and we find out, we will remove you as Game Master. We have a zero tolerance policy on toxicity and trolling, especially when it is deliberately done to make someone else feel bad. That being said, we love to have fun and make jokes, so don't feel like you have to walk on eggshells in the server :P

You are held at the highest standard when it comes to community involvement and behavior. It is not a free pass to earn cool stuff, it is a commitment and a responsibility. You will actively play a huge part in how the site progresses, from Quests you create to Events that you run, including those that involve our NPCs.

This position also comes with large lore reveals and secrets that are intended to stay secret. By accepting a Game Master position, you are promising to us that you will not share any of the information you see in the Staff Board or Staff channels in the Discord. You promise not to share any passwords or documents regarding these areas. Should you break these promises, you will lose your position as Game Master and, depending on the severity of what has happened, may even be banned from ORIGIN.

We actively audit many areas of site use, including these secret forums and threads, and will catch anyone that is not supposed to be there.

As a final note, I want to stress very much that being a Game Master is not a position or seat of power in which you can bend rules. At ORIGIN, we don't like to look at Game Masters as "staff" in the sense that they have this almighty presence above other members or anything. Game Masters are simply a way to improve our site's story, with some duties that may pertain to member interactions. All of our Game Masters have been chosen from our player base, because they are also a part of that same player base. This is not a "staff" position. It is a storytelling position.

Above Game Masters are Admins — myself (CJ) and Madison. Anything extreme will be handled by us, such as bans or strikes. A Game Master might reach out to players to discuss the odd misunderstanding or two, or perhaps even to discuss a new character application. Admins and GMs communicate on the same level, so all of our discussions are held together; sometimes, hard decisions and actions are carried out as a team, but myself and Madison will always have the final say.

These applications are open to members of our community. Previous GMs may also apply.

Only myself, Madison, Game Master Dark, and Game Master Pluto will see the answers you provide below. If any of the questions make you uncomfortable or you do not wish to answer them, that's OK, but keep in mind we will be looking at these very carefully. Any omitted information may be counted against you.
