Hydra had birthed them and just as quickly it had torn them open. There were no ill feelings towards what had transpired, it simply was. To waste energy raging at what could be considered natures course was, well, futile. They had flown as fast as they could, not knowing where they were going only that they needed to get away. Flown until their wings could no longer carry them and then they had collapsed. On the cusps of Hydra's sands they had given over to sleep. For a full ten cycles they had remained dormant allowing their aches and pains to slowly but surely heal. Now Hydra had once again chosen to see them awake for the sands had shifted from the lone stone outcropping and the gembound within was cooking.

Well maybe not outright cooking, but it was definitely hot.

Using their beak they tested the stone for weak spots and finding one began to scratch at the stone in an effort to weaken it further so that they may simply then use their beak to break free. That worked so well for them the last time hadn't it.
