Eventually, Esther came back once again. Their choice to see what was going on still was on their mind. They wanted to know as much as they could about it, even if it meant having weird things happen like the canine Max before. He said he felt strong, and Esther wanted to know what that strength was.

Curiosity killed the cat, after all.

Except Esther wasn't a cat, and they never would be. (However it did make them think about that one named Purity) the place was dark but Esther could still see just fine. It was just that nothing interesting was going on.

Day 5

Later before, the maned wolf had left. And now, they were back once again. The colorful creature wanted to know if any lessers were inside, but when they made it back in, it didn't look like it. Maybe they naturally wanted to stay away, for something was not making them enter. or something else was going on.

Either way, the maned wolf wandered through.

This was strange, everything was strange. They wanted to know what would come of being around this place often, or maybe if nothing would happen. There were many different things, and Esther wanted to know what those things would be if they stayed as long as they could.

Which meant coming and going so they could eat, and they would leave again after some time of exploring.

Day 6

The idea that they would be going back and forth felt inane. But it wasn't. There was some kind of point to the madness. The feline before mentioned that her and the canine were trying to figure out the source of the power. To get the power that came from the hole, and if it meant getting through the things they couldn't understand, then they would do it.

They were going to figure out what the place meant, and they were going to figure out what happened with being in the place. Leaving again, they would be back, soon.

Still Day 6

They were back, the next day. The hole never got any less scary. It was kind of strange - Esther could hear things from the place. They didn't understand what it was. Whispers of ineligible words. Things they couldn't hear or see. There was nothing there. Nothing in every shadow in every corner when they turned to peer at it. They felt like they were being watched and oh boy, Esther wondered if they were.

Heterochromatic eyes scanned every nook and cranny. There was nothing.

They'd wander for a short time before leaving once again.

Day 7

It was becoming a routine to go back. Something about those whispers beckoned them to go back to the place, watch the shadows, and wait to see if anyone else went there. it was quiet most of the time, not even the lessers liked the place. Which was understandable, really. Esther liked to call themselves gallant, but in these moments, when the whispers and shadows wouldn't leave them alone, they really wondered if that was the case.

Nothing about the dark place screamed safe, but they could feel themselves warming up to it. Scary, but their vision didn't waver in the dark. They could see even through the darkness of the hole. So why was it so scary?

Once again, leaving after some time sitting there.

Day 8

Going back in, Esther wondered what the point was. Sure, they wanted to find out what was going on. But their brain was swarming and their heart was beating and everything didn't make sense. It hurt to think, hurt to sense. Hurt to be there and there wasn't even anything hurting them. They wondered if any of the others felt the same, if they were as stressed out as the maned wolf was.

Growling to themselves, they turned and stormed out of the place.

Day 9

When they went back the next day. They felt weird. Esther felt weird. Stressed out. Strange. Their chest hurt, and yet they still went back. Before long, a headache began. From the whispers and shadows that weren't even there. It was scary. Everything was scary. It didn't make any sense.

Before long, they could feel their chrysalis coming back. Forming around them, while they were in the hole. Esther didn't make any movement to get out - wanting the headache to go away. They would be stuck there for a good while. Waiting to reemerge.
