James nodded gently, "Maybe drinking something sweet afterwards to wash out the taste, too. Like apple juice, it's soft on the stomach. But a paste would work."

He leaned into Ari's affections, breathing slowing and becoming less raspy and wheezy. He very gently set his splinted leg down and groaned softly at the twinge of pain, but at least it wasnt raised. He closed his eyes and swallowed weakly, feeling weak and tired.

What a way to spend adulthood, hm? With a broken leg. I'm glad it's with you, though," he said with a soft smile, "... I wanted to be a Master before I reached my prime- perhaps to show Pride how much I've grown."

Gently, he reached out his magic and focused on a rock not too far away, trying to have it light up. He focused until his eyes crossed and he shook his head, ears pinning.

"Gah!! My magic's left me- of course it has," he said bitterly, stamping a front foot on the ground, "I could have tried to heal myself, but nooo! It backfired on me and instead of being a-okay, I can't walk, run, or do anything!"

Some days he wanted to rip the gem out of his own head. If only he could do so without dying so he could smack it around before putting it back. That ought to teach his magic a lesson...

Hope is but a waking dream

Aristotle got a distant look in his eyes after James finished talking as he rubbed his front paw on his other as he thought. A drink after would work but it would be best to just make the medicine itself sweeter, so perhaps adding a few more iceberries would help that and it would also help to leaven the paste.

A deep purr rumbled in Aristotle's chest as he groomed James. The lion felt more at ease as the horse’s breathing slowed and quieted. Baby blue eyes inspected the horse. The medicine should have been kicking by now. If he had given James the appropriate dose that is. It was hard to dose creatures larger than himself, he didn’t want to give him too much and if he didn’t give enough it wouldn’t work at all. It was so much easier treating wounded lesser gembound.

Aristotle smiled warmly at James. I’m just glad I was close by when you called for me, or may never have found you. I’m so glad I found you. Aristotle breathed relieved that James was going to be alright. The lion looked at James and smiled. It’s alright, I know he’ll be proud of you no matter what James. Aristotle assured James that his tutor would still be proud of him no matter what.

Aristotle watched James as he attempted to use his magic. Then he began belittling himself. James it’s okay, I’m sure you’re just having trouble because of the injury. I’m sure that’s what’s wrong. The lion attempted to assure his best friend that everything would be alright. I’m sure after some rest and healing you’ll feel better. And I’m sure with rest your magic will return. Aristotle stood and pressed his forehead against James’. And even if it doesn’t. I’ll never leave you James. I’ll protect you no matter what. Aristotle assured the horse that he wouldn’t be going anywhere.

James closed his eyes and was really just relieved that Sun hadn't been present through all of this. He didn't need to be traumatixed.

"I hope it's just the injury... but if it doesn't fix itself after I'm alright, then I'll have to kick it's ass," he grumbled, and shifted his position for the umpteenth time.

He finally rested his head on a pile of furs and let his ears rest limp, the rest of him relaxing as he yawned and tucked his good legs in better positions. He sniffed and peeked open an eye to peer at Ari, his amber eyes meeting baby blue.

"... I wonder what I did to deserve you," he mumbled, "For only a saint would truly deserve a second of your time, Ari."

James smiled sweetly before he settled down, tossing his freshly groomed mane before finally letting out a sigh, settling down to sleep. With the medicine in his system and the pain relieved, he felt drowsy and exhausted, and now that he was comfortable, he had no problem with trying to sleep.

His nose twitched as he started to drift off, eyes still closed as he spoke, "I think... I might get a headstart on that rest..."

Exit James to sleep unless interrupted!

Hope is but a waking dream

Aristotle sighed softly as James closed his eyes. He was glad that somehow with all the noise, Sun had managed to stay asleep. The lion couldn’t help but wonder if Sun wasn’t able to sleep through near anything with the amount of noise that had been going on while Aristotle had fixed and set James’ leg. For a moment Aristotle just sat with his ears turned back listening for Sun, whose soft even breathing he could hear in the other room. This was just to assure himself that indeed Sun was still there and that he was in fact asleep.

I’m sure it is James. And I’m sure you could do it without any trouble at all. After all you are a really good fighter. Though Aristotle had never seen the horse fight, he had been trained by someone. So surely he knew how to fight better than he did. Aristotle watched as James shifted once more trying to get comfortable. The lion felt for James, though he had never had more than a minor sprain that fixed itself in several days. When it happened he couldn’t get comfortable to save his life.

Aristotle flashed James a sheepish grin as he spoke. He didn’t think himself that great, he was just Aristotle, a simple scholar. He looked at James, his baby blue eyes glittering softly. I’m nothing special James, I’m just me and that’s all I ever try to be. Aristotle spoke softly. It was true, he didn’t see anything wrong with himself, or for that matter special. He was just a simple scholar with a knowledge of healing and how to do it from experience.

A light smile played on Aristotle’s muzzle as James settled down and got as comfortable as he could on the pile of furs. He knew James was getting ready to go to sleep, he had seen the horse get ready to sleep so many times now that he knew it with out much more than a glance. That’s good, you get some rest. I'm going to go lay with Sun and nap as well. Aristotle spoke as he stood licking James’ forehead gently before he turned and made his way to the bedroom to get some sleep as well.

EXIT ARISTOTLE TO SLEEP
