Gravity asserted itself on his thoughts when the ground rushed up to meet him at their destination. Much the same as he'd climbed aboard, Fahl disembarked with a leap. The landing jarred limbs and he narrowly avoided stumbling face-first into the water lapping at the pool's edge. He paced back and forth a couple times, walking off whatever blunder might have been noticed. Being viewed as clumsy within his own home would not do.
It was only once this had ceased that he took notice of Stormy. Legs straightened from a kneel, she was peering down at her reflection. During the other's absorption, Fahl reconsidered her appearance. Eyes lingered again on those two horns, measuring the sharpness of their points. This time, he did not scurry back in a bout of childish fear. Instead his mind acknowledged a similarity to his teacher: although their placement and color differed, these were not the first curved things he'd seen protruding from a Gembound's head.
His attention darted to the water himself, taking in the absence of such projections. Ordinarily, he'd pay no mind to what stared back at him from the glassy surface, accustomed to what he saw. Now a doubt stirred, awakened by the possibility of what might be missing. He shook this into submission, unwilling to entertain it for the moment.
Fahl crept closer to Stormy. Ripples disturbed the reflection as he dipped a foot in and swirled it around. Tiny fish dwelling hidden amongst the rocks at the bottom fled from the intrusion in a disorganized panic. Passing up the opportunity to dive in with a splash and snap at the glinting figures, he submerged another foot. Then he eased his body in entirely, the water closing over him.
Bubbles drifted to the top, and his head broke past the surface, scales darkened further by the wet clinging to them. "This is swimming." Swaying tail used as a rudder, he swam in a circle for demonstration. Mouth parted slightly in that odd reptilian attempt at a smile. "Can't stay forever like fish though. Have to keep breath in for long as I can."
