thanks so much to Comet for reminding me this thread existed--

The little wolf pup! She looked just the same as she last saw her, despite being half inside a bush and Huma hissing atop her head. At the sight of her mother she (thankfully) hopped right off and dashed behind the lizard. Which looked rather comedic, considering that she was just about slightly taller than herself. Comet was explaining herself, and how she managed to get inside a bush with an angry bird-- which, all things considered, was pretty funny.

"Oh! No, Huma's neck doesn't break," she reassured, "She's a special lizard, you know! A very special, fluffy lizard. Her head just... does that!"

Sharp turned back to her child, who was still huddling behind her and staring angrily at a bee, for some reason. "Hey, Huma, you alright? Now, I don't think our fluffy-friend here meant any harm, so how about we make amends. Is that good?"

"Ohhhhh." Well, that explained things. Comet added a note to her head that special fluffy lizards like Huma could twist their head around. That was pretty scary to someone who did not know the anatomy of lizards very well, so it wasn't all too unreasonable that the pup had tried to rescue Huma.

"Sorry Huma." apologized Comet.

Huma sniffed indignantly at Comet, and flattened herself out on the ground next to Sharp in an unusually apt impression of a sungazer lizard. "... Jus' scared," she finally said, her vowels rushed together and her consonants emphasized. "Fed me tho." She could already feel the meal settling heavy in her belly -- there would be pellets to reckon with later, she was sure of it.
