Comet
Arctic Wolf
Comet walked along the beautiful shores of Fornax, the waters lapping at her paws. Today, was not a day for swimming, or just general practicing, it was a day for something special. She wasn't sure if her plan would even work, after all, she had only ever tried it on bubbles before, never on fish. But you never know unless you try it, huh?

Soon, she found a nice spot and sat down, gazing over the waters for a spot of purple. It was mating season for the fish, and they were traveling here, to lay their eggs. It was not only the females though, many males came here too, perfect food.

The main reason why is had to be this specie of fish, Starscales, and not the other kinds, was because their fins allowed them to jump out of the water, moving targets that she could hit with her fountain spell. Not only great practice, but great food. But before she started, she looked around to see if anyone wanted to join her. Fishing was always more fun with company to help.

She waited, and waited. When no one showed up, she decided to start by herself. More fish for herself! First something was needed to startle the water to make them fly up. Looking around, she spotted some pebbles that could be thrown into the water. Comet picked a few decently sized rocks that were not too heavy to carry, and were sure to make a big splash.

Lugging the rocks over to the shore, she waited for the group of purple fish to appear under the water. There! There they were! She flung the rock into the water with her mouth, and the big splash startled the fish. Before she knew it, the purple fish were flying into the air, which is exactly what she wanted.

This was her chance! the fish wouldn't stay out of the water forever, since it wasn't exactly true flight. She had to find a good one, small enough so it could be stunned easily, but big enough to eat. Some of them were so small, it wasn't worth trying to catch them. Comet picked one that was in the middle of the frenzy, her eyes never left it as she opened her mouth to try and hit it out of the air.

The jet of water caught it, but just barely. It spun in circles in the air, then dropped into the water. And started sinking. That was not good, that meant she would have to dive and retrieve her prey. That added a layer of complexity to it.

It was a good thing she knew how to swim. Comet struck out into the water, the more time she wasted, the deeper the fish would sink. And she didn't know how deep the lake even was, and she didn't want to find out. Now that she was over the spot where she saw it had fallen, it was time to dive down. Now this was hard, she knew how to swim, but had never tried diving before. Her legs were also already fatigued from the swimming, so she wasn't sure if she had enough energy to dive.

Comet felt her legs getting tired as she stayed in place, she would have to dive now. She pushed downwards with her legs, and kept kicking as she swam down. Forcing her eyes to stay open, she looked around for the fish.

Great, now that she was underwater, she knew she had about thirty seconds to find the fish. Two attempts. Her eyes scanned the water for a flash of purple, which was rather hard through to many bubbles and countless other fish swimming around. Comet restrained herself from reaching out and snatching one of them, since she would run out of air.

She saw it, from the corner of her eye, the flash of purple. At first she thought it was another fish, but no, it was the one she had hit from earlier. Her legs kicked as she dived towards it. Her jaws opened, and she bit down on it.

This was the part she hadn't accounted for. Now that her jaws were on the fish, she did not have any air left. The surface was several feet above her, and she was already beginning to feel light headed. No! She would not die this way! She forced her legs to kick and swim up towards the surface.

There were a few moments when she thought she wouldn't be able to make it, but Comet forced herself to keep going. She was about to black out when she felt her head break through the surface, and she gasped for air. The fish was really not worth all that trouble. Her legs carried her back to the shore, where she laid down with her prize, and caught her breath.

That was so not worth it. Nearly drowning for a fish that barely had any meat on it now that she looked. It was mostly fins and scales. "Guess I should try how it tastes then." Comet took a bite, and heard the crunch of the scales and bones.

The meat itself didn't taste so bad, it was really just the bones that were the problem. Too many, and they poked the insides of her mouth. Looking around to make sure no one was looking, she dug a whole and spit out the fish in it. Then she quickly covered up the crime scene. Now that she knew those kinds of fish were not worth catching, she decided to go home. Her paws splashed into the water along the shore, as she walked home.

"Exit Comet to home"
