Undeterred by her failure, she tried to fit into the gap again. She was going to do it whether the trees decided to let her or not. Comet pushed at it, and she heard a POP! But unfortunately she did not tumble into the gap this time. There was a tight feeling around the middle of her body, and she realized that she was stuck. Stuck as stuck could be.

Comet struggled as much as she could. Twisting and turning, trying to free herself from between the trees. But no matter how much she pushed and pulled, the trees refused to listen, and her own body had been forced in too tightly between them.

With her struggling not working, it was time to try a different strategy. She would have to make the space around her belly wet and slippery so she could get in. The fountain made the place very wet and slippery, and Comet popped into the gap with ease. Just goes to show how useful magic is huh?

The pup looks around to see if there would be anything in this gap this time.

This alcove was conspicuously bare.

It appeared to be lived-in; the floors were worn-smooth and a rocks were pushed up to either side of the walls. Some had been broken along their tops and worked to be a flat top. Chips and scrapes were taken out of it in smooth lines. Sweeping arcs—barely an inch deep—were cut into the back wall.

A moth-eaten mat woven from fibrous plants was spread across a small part of the floor. Small stones were set on each corner, as if to hold it in place.

Looking around, she could see that this gap had been lived in too. But unlike the first one, there weren't exactly any treasured belongings here, perhaps the animal that had been here before had moved away? There was the problem of the gap being a bit hard to fit through, but the more times she passed through it the bigger it would get.

The flat rocks would work as good storages and working stations, and the mat could work well as a good sitting place. She would need to get more pelts to use since the mat was too worn to be used as a bed. Her mind was full of ideas as she exited the place, with less difficulty this time, and made a note in her head of where it was. Comet would return later to clean up the place a bit, but she knew she had discovered her new den.
