The lightbulbs were dim. A thick fog, brought in by the breeze tinted the caves a dull monochrome. The last of the weather anomaly they called "snow" had liquified into mere puddles. There were virtually no differences from the way it appeared weeks ago, save for a few new cave openings along the walls.

But the creature did not care for any of this. Child-- the Child, the monochrome creature that called itself so-- hobbled into a cave full of crystals and magic. The very air seemed to glow with the substance, and there was a certain energy it felt by being here. And it felt... strange. As it crept over rocks and weeds towards the center of the room, it noticed how much of it seemed to revolve around a massive, crackling obelisk. It decided to avoid that. It may have grown some, but it was still very, very small and very vulnerable. It didn't want to risk itself investigating a strange rock.

Instead, Child turned its attention to a large, clear field in front of it. It was nothing more than cool rock and dew-covered weeds, but inside its mind was a plan to train in it. Perhaps it could gather objects, yes, and place them in the center so he could thrust them away with his magic. Seemed like a plan enough.'

The wind breezed past it's crystal face. It turned aside and sifted through the rock jumbles with it's long claws. Unfortunately, it couldn't find anything very dispel-ly-- not even a pebble. Just more grass, glowing crystals, and a couple wall crawlers. How disappointing.

Okay, perhaps looking somewhere different would be more beneficial. The masked creature turned, slowly, and trundled towards a large outcropping of crystals. It did not like the way the gems crackled with magic, but perhaps there could be some more mundane rocks among them.

After a bit of sniffing around it did find some things: a few pebbles, chunks of driftwood, and one rock. Barely enough to work with, but it was satisfactory. It grabbed them with long claws and clutched them close to its body as it hobbled back to the field. Then they were dropped, nudged about, clumped together on the ground like children toys. No emotion could be seen through his white mask-- he might've as well been counting flies. What a strange creature.

And now fo the main spectacle: mundanely dispelling a small clump of pebbles apart. Nothing too special, but Child placed lots of importance on his (admittedly limited) magical ability. It had to get good at it if it wanted to be useful. And it needed to be useful, lest he succumbs to some gruesome fate alone.

The pangolin turned its body to face the scraggly mass he accumulated head on. In a short burst of unseen energy, the pebbles trembled, before flying away in every direction. One unfortunate twig smacked right against its gemstone mask. Absolutely perfect-- though it should certainly look into collecting more things for a better spectacle.
