Spotted Hyena Dark

#1
Parent: Giggle
Giving: Life x 3
Health: Healthy
Element: Fungus
Stone: Fire Agate
Had any previous litters: First (3x random); Second (Aure)
Randomize Litter?: No
Link to Conception Thread: Link

Child Name: Up to adopter
Gender: Up to adopter
Species: Hyena x Coyote
Appearance: Largely canine in appearance; about 80-90lbs, midway between coyote and large Spotted Hyena weight. Curved, pointed hyena ears, thick coat with mixed hyena-coyote colors with hyena spots, a black hyena mask, pale golden coyote eyes, and a short but bushy tail. The forelimbs are slender coyote legs; the hind legs are thicker hyena limbs. The rough Creedite stone is located in a cluster on its belly, providing some protection but making lying belly-down quite uncomfortable.
Element: Fungi
Stone: Creedite

Child Name: Up to adopter
Gender: Up to adopter
Species: Hyena x Reindeer
Appearance: Reindeer-sized; adopter can choose a weight between 250-500lbs. This creature has primarily reindeer shape, though with a hyena's sloping topline, jaws, tail, color and spots. The hind legs have hooves, the front have hooves but with four cloven toes. This creature is omnivorous with a mixed set of teeth, hyena-like eyes, ears halfway between a reindeer's and a hyena's, a hyena's neck-mane and a reindeer's dewlap. The Aventurine is a ridge along the lower jaw/chin. A pair of paddled antlers graces its head.
Element: Fungi
Stone: Aventurine

Child Name: Up to adopter
Gender: Up to adopter
Species: Hyena x Koala
Appearance: Mostly resembled a koala, but much heavier--around 60-80lbs in good health. Clawed toes and thumbs allow climbing, though its weight may make that more difficult. Very cuddly and plush-soft, with hyena jaws--can eat either meat or plants. Big, fluffy koala ears, koala eyes and nose, koala colors and fur. Hyena jaws, tail, mane and spots. One upper canine tooth is a pink Spinel.
Element: Fungi
Stone: Pink Spinel

These children will be up for Adoption! Please take note of the following:
- They will begin as Bonebound; I'd ask for the hatching thread (unless Giggle somehow dies before then, of course) and initial Bonebound rite of "the first reading" to be done, but if you want the child to choose to leave a bit later on that's fine;
- They'll have a warm family start, one way or another;
- You can change the stone location if you do not like it!

I'll choose adopters in two to three weeks, so adopters will have a week or two to get profiles in order.

Adoption Application Form:

Chinese Water Deer Fracture

#4
OOC name: Fracture
Which Child? reindeer kid!
Character Name: Chitin
Character Gender: Epicene (they/them)
Personality Description: Naive, like all children are; they tend to be rather optimistic about the world and are easily forgiving even towards those they shouldn't be. Flexible and adaptive to the extreme; tends not to think ahead and although they are patient enough to plan ahead, they simply don't see the point in it. They find it more fun to leap into things head-first, anyways. Enjoys having lots and lots of friends—quite extroverted, and will try to befriend people no matter their appearance, outlook, or personality. Tends to put others ahead of them and is very much a people-pleaser, simply because they enjoy seeing people happy. Feels guilty when they upset people and devotes themselves to 'doing better'—they see people disliking them as a failure on their part, rather than something on the other person's end. Will often attempt to struggle through problems rather than taking a step back and trying to see it from a different angle. Are surprisingly good with being left alone, but only because they find friends in everything, even lesser gembound; will most likely get themselves hurt a few times simply by attempting to 'befriend' hostile Lessers. Has an artistic side and tends to find the beauty in the little things; can easily occupy themselves for hours on end staring at a butterfly or the ripples of a lake. Quite easily affectionate and may have issues understanding those who express their love in subtler ways.
More: --
Were anyone around to see the little gembound, they'd find Chitin sprawled out awkwardly on the floor, one back leg resting on an errant bone, the other tucked beneath them; the little one seems to have not yet figured out how to lie down properly, or, perhaps, at this moment, they don't care, all of their attention devoted wholly to something right in front of their nose.

The source of their utter fascination? A little green larva, glowing softly in the dimness of the cave; they track its slow progress over the stone with precision, unwilling to tear their eyes away from the insect for even a moment.

Come here... they think, tongue poking out of the side of their mouth a little as they wait with perfect focus, watching its swirling patterns glow as it walks.

After a good while of this, just lying there and waiting and watching this little larva that most likely barely registers their presence, it happens—the larva reaches up, taps the first of its many legs on the beginning of Chitin's chin, and then begins to crawl up onto their head.

They gasp—ever so slowly rising from their lying position, careful not to jostle the worm off of their nose. There are a few, brief moments where they stare cross-eyed at the larva glowing and creeping on their head—

—and, then, they take off, hooves scrabbling on the stone and tendons clicking as they run to show someone, anyone their newest friend. "Mom! Mom!"

Sika Deer dove

#5
OOC name: dove
Which Child? KOALA CHILD
Character Name: Buttons, Chanterel, Morel, or Enoki
Character Gender: They/them
Personality Description: Love elemental, the sequel. They love fiercely -- hugs are a second language and they are constantly clinging to someone. They're a little slow on the uptake, and are rather gullible, but everything can be fixed with a hug. They like to take care of children and rather enjoy climbing, but being so heavy makes it hard! Still, it's all the more weight for cuddling with! A portable weighted blanket of a creature who loves nothing more than spending time with their family, and maybe inventing new snacks -- but don't underestimate them because they're soft, because it is those with something to lose who love the fiercest and those at risk of losing it who fight the bloodiest. Even demons run when a good man finds something worth going to war for (shameless doctor who quote there, but it's apt!).
More:

Enoki, generally, was not good at puzzles. Puzzles made their head hurt, because they were never quite good at taking the logical jump from one step to the next one, and that was frustrating. Especially when they were faced with their current puzzle -- one of the little ones had lost a toy high up in one of the bone forts, and had been unable to retrieve it. Enoki had volunteered to help, insisting that they could do it over one of the winged creatures, and was now regretting that decision immensely. Mostly, they were worried about the smaller bones up at the top cracking under their weight, or dislodging a tower of them altogether. So Enoki had to figure out a way to climb the bones and get high up safely, without ruining a tower or breaking the toy, and hopefully without also breaking themselves.

They rubbed their face in their hands and groaned loudly. This was not going to be easy. They figured that if they went on the ones that mostly looked as though they belonged to the legs of things, they could figure something out -- legs were usually the strongest bones in the skeleton, because it was where the bulk of the weight was usually carried. They tested the strength of one near the bottom, tugging on it gently to see if it gave and then a little harder when it didn't. Then they placed part of their weight on it, and released. When nothing happened, they cautiously put their whole weight on it, waited a moment, and began to climb slowly, performing those steps in order for each handhold as they went.

Before Enoki knew it, they found themselves at the site of the lost toy -- a bone that had been broken in half and notched, with vines tied in the notches so that it was easier to carry. A toy to hit things with, to hear what sounds could be made. They grabbed it in their jaws and whooped triumphantly, and waved down at one of the passing Bonebound. Leaning forward, they grabbed it out of their mouth with one hand and shouted, "Look, see, I told you I could--" and promptly lost their balance.

Instinct had them grabbing at the bones of the tower, and they fell awkwardly, taking most of it down with them in an unattractive clatter. They cringed all the way through the din, ignoring the awkward angle they'd fallen at on their back and on many bones. They sighed and held the toy to their chest, looking up at a small crowd that was now gathering. With a sheepish smile, they said, "Who needs wings, right?"

At least they had a new project to keep them busy.

Ophanim Gortie

#6

OOC name: Gortie
Which Child? Yote/Yeen!
Character Name: Cricket/Flea
Character Gender:He/Him
Personality Description: Flea is excitable. He is like a toddler on a sugar high, all the time. Flea is very rarely not moving or talking. That is, when Flea is comfortable. Flea very rarely comfortable. He is the definition of nervousness. New things scare him, especially new people, and he'll often end up looking to his siblings and his older family. To see what they do, and how they react, before he decides himself. Despite his reliance, or perhaps because of it, he'll most likely end up a childhood bully.

He doesn't want to admit hes reliant on his siblings. And doesn't want them to see it. If left alone with his siblings, play may end up dark. He'll end up pushing them around, or nipping at them. An opportunity to show himself as top dog. That, despite his fear, he is still better. Only time will tell if he grows out of this. On the contrary, It may turn. Warp, until Flea is defensive of the Bonebound, and fearful and aggressive to outsiders. He rarely grooms on his own, and his hair will end up spiky and unkempt.

More: There was the clatter of bone on stone. Silence. Another clatter. Then a snap. The joyful laughter of a child. A bone skipped across the ground, chased by what seemed a dog at first glance. But their fur was spotted. Their neck spiked by a mane. The child placed a foot on the bone, then fell over to their side. Their teeth chewed at the side of the bone, working at a rate that it'd be powder by evening. There was a snap. Not from the hybrid. Flea was on his feet in minutes.

"What hows who's there?" He barked. His ears were fine tuned to the source of the noise. Head low. Body wound tight by anxiety and fear. His head swept side to side, searching for a sibling to guard him. To show him what to do. He picked up the bone in his mouth, chewing on it nervously. Hoping the crack and grind of the bone would scare it away. Skitters and cracks grew closer, and closer. Whilst the hybrid shuffled further and further backwards. Until, with a yelp, Flea ran. Screaming for a parent, a sibling, to come rescue them.

Stallion, nonbinary. 59 Cycles
Thoroughbred Pegasus Charlie

#7
OOC name: Charlie!
Which Child? Cyena!
Character Name: Bayo, Cackle, Ally (dang i really like a names-)
Character Gender: He/him
Personality Description: Bayo is aloof in that sort of way like a coyote investigating a campfire. Sticking to the very edges, trying to figure out if it's safe to come any closer. Cautious yet stupid, and absolutely curious by nature, always one to smack at a hot coal to see if it's hot, before running off yelping, because of course it was you dummy-

Though their curiosity isn't a defining feature. That would definitely be their wit. Of which they have little of. Typically they'll be told something and walk off, only to come back moments later asking what they had to do. They're not entirely clueless but a lot of cues seem to go over their head a lot of the time, and manners are something they struggle to grasp, so 'please' and 'thank you' are rare phrases.

They do try their best to be strong like their mother, seeing her as the best in any situation. They get their odd comments and weird mannerisms from her, like how they bounce and sway sometimes, and some that seem to have almost been inspired, like how he tends to change the subject without any connection whatsoever to the previous topic, which can be jarring and inconsiderate. He himself knows the connections, and tends to not really understand how he's being rude sometimes.

Sometimes, though... Giggle can be scary. Talking to herself, constantly changing her outer mannerisms at the drop of a hat. He tries to understand and be empathetic, tries to be like the best parts of his mother and tries to be as great as people say she sometimes is. He tries. For her.

More:
- probably won't become a bone-seer or anything, probably isn't as good at it as giggle is, but since he's a tiny bit monkey-see, monkey-do, will most likely want to be taught such a thing
- will probably want to stay in canis with their siblings, will definitely visit giggle as often as possible
- very protective of their siblings to the point of perhaps being smothering, doesn't quite understand that being too protective is a bad thing
- affection isn't a stranger, but they're not very good at the tactful part of it, like when to say 'i love you' (definitely not in the middle of a fight like he tends to do), or when a hug is due, but they try
- okay this one will probably be the most important- Bayo probably feels like an outcast among the other Bonebound, who are a lot more... socially adept than him. So more often than not he'll wander to clear his head or dip out of a conversation to escape somewhere, finding himself in other caves where he finds creatures and things so much more interesting and less painful than trying to learn why someone was mad after he didn't catch on that they were being sarcastic.
- miiight end up being a fungal spellcaster
- finds a lot more comfort in his mother than anyone else, not really in a physical way with hugs and cuddles, but he feels like she could understand him more than anyone else
- not technically an outcast, but will mostly hang out around the outer edges of the bonebound, and will probably be the most likely to catch any stragglers wandering around canis in his travels
