Adonia seemed to be happy with how Amber settled with her explanation. She seemed assured that the image in the gemstone could do her no harm. The little lioness smiled warmly as she gently nudged the kittens side. ”It’s strange but I promise it can’t hurt you.” Adonia assured Amber as best she could. ”The only way it can hurt you is if you try attacking the gemstone, that’s only because the gemstone is solid so you’d be attacking a solid object which is hard and hurts.” She explained gently to the best of her ability. She wanted the kitten to feel safe and so she tried her best to explain the way things worked.

Adonia smiled sweetly as she noticed the mostly blank look on the kitten’s face as she explained about food. Amber had just hatched, of course she didn’t know what kinds of food there was. For a moment Adonia stood thinking of the best place to possibly find mice around here. Thinking for a moment the girl wondered what would be best to try and catch for the kitten. She quickly settled on the cave mice as the rats were too aggressive.

A bright grin spread across the little lioness’ muzzle as Amber asked if she could help. ”Of course! Just do what I say and I’m sure we can catch enough mice to make a good lunch!” She bounced eagerly in place. Though she quickly stopped and took a deep calming breath that she held for a moment and slowly let it out. Okay hunting while riled up was no good you’d get ahead of yourself. She had learned that the first few times she had gone hunting. ”Number one rule, Always stay calm. Don’t let your excitement get to you or you'll mess up.” She gave her first rule of hunting for Amber to hear, so the newborn would know to stay calm.

Closing her eyes the lioness sniffed the air taking in all the scents around her. However it seemed that the lessers in the area had figured out what kind of greater gembound had been forming in the chrysalis and had retreated farther away. ”There’s nothing close here. Follow me it looks like we’re going to be doing some tracking to find our lunch!” The girl admitted eagerly, seeming to be thrilled by the thought of being able to show off her hunting abilities to her new friend.

Amberfrost listens with her ears pricked forwards and her eyes wide open, nodding readily as her forepaws knead at the ground. That seems simple enough! ... She’s gonna pretend like she knows how to be calm. It’s something she can probably learn on the fly. She hopes so, anyways.

”Oh!! Well okay! Lead the way!” she chirps readily, jumping to her paws with her tail swishing behind her. Hunting mission! For food! To get rid of the pain of hunger! It’s exciting!!! She noticed what the lion cub was doing though with the air- it occurs to her that Nia has her own scent to her. The prey animals must have theirs too! She tries out her own sniffer as they walk, eager to see if she can find anything first.

Before too long, she picks up something on the breeze, and her tail sticks straight up as her eyes go wide. That’s something different!! And she can tell where it’s coming from!! It’s faint, but she can DEFINITELY smell it there. It had to be something.

”Hold on!!” She whispers loudly to Nia once she finds it, bouncing on her feet and flicking her tail to left. ”I think I smelled something over that way!! Right?”

Adonia smiled warmly at Amber as she nodded listening to her instructions. She could tell her new friend was eager for this new experience. Adonia could remember the first time she had gone hunting, it hadn’t ended well and she had ended up face planting into a tree. But now she was better at maneuvering and agility now that she was getting more experienced anyway. This was going to be a difficult hunting session, she could tell. But that was alright, she would be hunting with a friend.

Adonia listened hard with her rounded ears, her keen sense of smell scenting the air for any nearby prey. She came up empty but Amber seemed to come up with a scent. For a moment Nia closed her eyes and focused finally catching the scent that Amber had found. ”Good catch that’s a mouse! It’s not too far away either.” Adonia complimented the girl’s keen sense of smell, even right out of the chrysalis she was sharp.

Picking the scent out Adonia smiled back at Amber. ”Come on, now we gotta track it!” She explained with a smile. ”This will be pretty hard as for a mouse your tracking practically on scent alone because of how small they are, they don’t leave paw prints or break branches.” She explained further how it was going to be following the mouse on scent alone.

With her nose to the ground the girl followed the scent that Amber had found. It took them a little bit to find the mouse they had scented. There just ahead in the short grasses was a small red form with round little ears. There were two of them, one for each of them. Adonia stopped a ways away and crouched down. Adonia motioned with a paw for Amber to do the same and come up closer beside her. Adonia observed the area looking for the mice’s hole. The girl found it not far from them in a pile of rocks. ”I’m gonna go wait by that pile of rocks over there, you scare them towards me and we’ll catch them between us.” Adonia whispered to Amber as she explained how they were going to catch the two mice.

After she heard what Amber had to say, Adonia smiled brightly at Amber and crept off the few yards over to the pile of rock that clearly had a nest built within it. The little lioness took a position next to and almost behind the pile of rocks as she waited for Amber to chase the mice towards their home.

What a rush of information! Amber soaks all of it up, her eyes wide and curious as she listens. That sounds like something she can do! The praise is all she needs to keep herself motivated, and she slinks off to get into position.

The kitten watches intently for Nia to be in position, and once she is, she only waits a little while before springing out of hiding. The sound of paws against the ground and the crashing foliage are more than enough to scare the poor creatures, who barely glance at Amber before they make a mad dash for the safety of their den.

Amber keeps hot on their tiny paws, her mouth watering at their scent. Oh this is gonna be so good if it actually works!

Adonia let out a pleased pur as her brilliant blue eyes watched her friend take her position. It didn’t take long for the girls instincts to kick in as she leaped forward scaring the mice right towards her. Little lioness waited on edge for just a few seconds for the mice to close some of the distance between themselves and their den.

Leaping from her hiding spot the girl landed directly in front of the mice’s den. She opened her jaws and rawred in the mice’s faces, scaring them into a halt as they scampered to find a way to run between the two felines. However as Adonia went to leap up and pounce on the two mice one managed to slip by her and into the den the other standing frozen in fear its little body shaking in terror. ”Catch it! It’s all yours!” The little lioness urged her friend though she herself had failed. Though it was no big deal for her as she had eaten earlier that.
