Children of Rot

This thread is an interest check and plotting hub for future CoR activities. I'll lay out what CoR is, its history and future, and potential plans. If you have suggestions, questions or if you have interest in these plots, please post and let me know. It's open to alterations.

Summary - Children of Rot are a reclusive group comprised of family and friends both, who dwell (as a whole) in the swamp of Cetus. They focus on survival, being hyper-aware of the factions and dangers lurking in the cave, and the secrets still held by the Masters that might impact that survival in the future. Aesthetically, CoR has traditionally been made up of fairly serious, often darker characters, ex. crocodilians, bats, owls and serpents, though anyone would be considered for joining ICly.

Purpose - To ensure their own survival and, to a lesser extent, the survival of the caves/their home as a whole. That means retaining awareness of the caves' ongoing events and of potential threats, and laying out contingency plans for these. The CoR remain neutral in an aloof sense, not trusting any particular faction (in terms of Corruption, Mother, etc); they will defend their territory from anyone who seems to threaten their survival.

CoR, Past and Present - CoR started off something like a cult, with the concept that death and the dead shape the living (a perspective on evolution). Aware of the prevalence of death within the caves, they determined to be those who survived. From the cave start and through many, many cycles, CoR members (though names have come and gone) have taken part in major cave-wide events, helping to ensure that at no point will the Gembound population be wiped out. They have always been associated with Aquarian (the serpentine Master living in the Heart), providing him food in return for occasional protection and information.

Future Activities - As Mother and Corruption both become far more prevalent and Lord Dhracia continues to visit the cave, the secretive nature of the Children will be emphasized. My plans are for Dragon to seek out those with knowledge of earth magic, attempting to recruit them; with this, he will try to fashion a secondary, smaller cave in part of Cetus in which to hide the Children and close allies in emergencies. Defenses, food farming, etc. can also be set up, with the intent of making Cetus a last-ditch bunker for their survival should catastrophe strike Origin Cave. Even if the rest of the caves are purged, Dragon would see a few Gembound surviving in the carefully-managed haven of Cetus.

Despite the secrecy and perhaps complementing it, Dragon would see others quietly spreading the word to potentially-trustworthy individuals. Already somewhat allied with the Seven and the Bonebound, he would not mind keeping representatives or aides with them, to provide aid to either group on behalf of CoR if needed. Alliances are beneficial to both sides, in his eyes.

Roles - There is the potential (given enough members) of restarting the Maw, the Eyes, and the Claw. The Maw would be those who travel, seeking new members and preaching the Childrens' concepts. The Eyes are the spies, watching for events of great importance and reporting them back where needed, and the Claw are the defense force of the Seven. Dragon is also happy to take in any child that turns up in his potential care, personally, offering a route to simply be a rank-and-file member.

Roleplay - Member players would to some extent need to take the framework and guide their own characters to fulfil their roles. While Dragon can offer assignments, a lot of the activities would be player-driven--so, preaching to other characters, helping to create the sanctum in Cetus, growing gardens for food, and so forth. A catalyst for new and fresh activity will be Dragon awakening after his defeat at the hands of Draconua, and the realization that the Children are nowhere near as safe as they seemed.

I would say sniffles could be a maw, but they have a pretty bad language barrier in that they dont really know a lot though they could perhaps work alright as a spy as well.
