(This post was last modified: Jun 15 2021, 03:32 AM by Aethril.)
Child Name: Dusk
Gender: --
Species: Custom Creation
Appearance: In appearance, this character will be one of Cepheus's Ivory Deer, albeit with feathered wings. However, upon closer inspection, the jaw and throat split to form a larger, horrific, razor-toothed maw exactly resembling those of Hellswans. This makes the neck more mobile but less strong than that of a deer. Like ivory deer, it's white all over with slightly off-white or grayish hooves/antlers, and four dark eyes, with short soft fur producing a marble-white appearance.
Element: Prokaryote
Stone: Fire Opal (Arwen's stone)
This character will be played by Charlie/Corvus.
(up for adoption)
Child Name: Dawn
Gender: UPA
Species: Custom Creation
Appearance: Identical to the creature above--created in a matched pair on Aethril's instructions to serve as palace guardians for Aethril and Isra.
Element: Arcane
Stone: Grandidierite
as a general warning if either of these creations veer towards disobeying aethril/isra/both it will likely be destroyed. aethril might be a little more lenient towards dawn (who is up for adoption!) but if you have an idea that involves them acting out in front of aethril just keep this in mind!
i'll be picking a player on july 10th to give them 2 days to prepare
adoption form:

Cicada

ooc name: Cicada
personality: Dawn appears to take her responsibilities as palace guardian very seriously. Visitors ought to be closely inspected, and any threats or potential weapons removed. One can never be too careful, after all--Miss Aethril's safety is paramount.
... a little too paramount?
Dawn is a bit of a helicopter parent, albeit ten thousand years younger than her "child" and with much less authority. She will attempt to follow Aethril everywhere. Everywhere. And if she is not allowed--? Why, but that's reckless behavior! It's for your own good, Miss Aethril. Look, as Aethril's guard, she knows best about proper security. She was created for the purpose, after all! And Miss Aethril, your visitors have claws and teeth--that could be dangerous! They should not be allowed near you! At the very least, she will insist on 'disarming' them, with an alarming tone of casual cruelty to her suggestions. At times, it is unclear whether Dawn really wants to keep Aethril safe or just wants to bite off someone's toes. Whether or not she is successful is another matter altogether.
If her efforts to 'ensure the safety of the palace and all its inhabitants!' are thwarted by foolish Hands that don't know what's best for themselves, Dawn can often be found sulking lazily around the gardens, refusing to get up. Fine--let's see where that lackadaisical carelessness they call 'sufficient security measures' gets them! She is inevitably disappointed when something bad fails to happen to prove her point.
plot ideas: not really any concrete ideas. I guess I'll just see how things go?? Harassing visitors and being annoyingly overprotective?
rp sample: (i made some assumptions about how aethril would feel but ofc i'd take how you rp it into consideration in actual writing!)
'Sulking again?'
Dawn lifted her head, lips peeling back ever so slightly. No, she was not sulking. Miss Aethril wanted her to lay off the increased security measures and chill out--or else get poisoned by a plague and die for disobeying a Hand, probably. So that was exactly what Dawn was doing. Foolish though the Hand might be, Dawn was a GOOD HOUND who would NEVER DREAM of disobedience.
"I am following orders," she droned, with a mild note of disdain. Hmph. See? She was chilling out. Backing off, just as she was told. "I do not sulk. Unless I have been ordered to sulk." Unfolding her legs, the helldeer picked her way delicately to a fountain, dipping her snout into the water.
"I will resume my duties when it is appreciated," and again that note of disdain. "It appears I am not needed at this moment." Hopefully, she would be soon. Then she could come flying to the rescue, and gloat--well, figurative gloating, of course. Good hounds didn't gloat against their hands. (Plus, Dawn valued her good health.) But Isra and Aethril would certainly be more receptive to her new ideas then, hmm?
Now, if only one of those threats walking around the palace would use the weapons she hadn't been able to bite off of them. Then she'd show them all.

(This post was last modified: Jun 23 2021, 01:28 PM by Esther.)
ooc name: Chishio
personality:
To say Dawn is loyal is an understatement. They take their job very seriously and see no reason to go against the orders of those higher than them even if the morals of the situation are wrong. Not because they have no moral compass - no, they do, a big one too. Just... They hate being punished and would rather face death than the look of disappointment on their superior's face. They are quite insistent in taking on any and all responsibilities they can, and fulfilling each of them just as well, or even better than they were told when they began.
That work ethic, though, causes problems for their outside relationships. Dawn is extremely reluctant to leave their post, often choosing to stay and guard instead of forming lasting relationships with anyone they may come across - palace inhabitants included. It may make them seem more rude than they actually are, and they care deeply about what others think of them. Only, they don't allow those feelings to show because they can't fix it. At least, they think they can't. On top of that, because they choose to not form relationships, they are awkward in casual situations. Not knowing what to say, not knowing what is okay to say, do or ask - it adds up over time and Dawn may just forgo forming non-working relationships all together.
Failure is something so far away in their head, that when it happens it leaves them completely devastated. Too much feeling may cause them to shut down, because of their inability to learn how to properly deal with them, and it could leave them out of commission for a short time before they force themselves to get back up and keep going with what they do best - guarding the palace.
plot ideas: Ahh anything that has to do with them trying to form meaningful relationships or better their emotional state!
rp sample:
Dawn, alone, looks around themselves. It's about time for everyone to be asleep, or at least resting. They, though, have not left their post since they were instructed to watch it at the start of that morning. If anyone was going to try and break in, it would be during the time where most everyone is asleep. Don't they know that - ? Of course they do. So Dawn does not move from their place, even if someone were to come by and question why. Of course, they'll move if they're told. It's not good to stay up too long - it will make them tired when they have to keep watch again tomorrow. They'll leave soon, they silently promise to themselves.
Movement catches their eye, and Dawn watches, a statue in the midst of the dark cave. A small lesser comes out, and then patters away. Dawn really needs to get some sleep, it seems. Would they get in trouble for sleeping at their post...? They don't want to take any chances, but what if they're needed here quickly? They could be anywhere in the palace! There's no telling how long it would take to get to the danger! Face and neck contorting into a grimace, Dawn huffs at themselves. They don't really have much of a choice, do they?
