Well, that was anti-climatic. Tourmaline was hoping something would happen. Guess its back to plan A, since she doesn't really know what else to try at this point.

She charges again, not particularly fast but enough to catch up to the slightly distracted Kooru. She jumps up, trying one more time to bite down on it. It's now or never.

The kooru's head came up and around just in time for its neck to catch a tangle of teeth and claws.

It twisted back to run, lost its balance and keeled over, landing on its side; hooves kicked helplessly at the air. It let out a loud bleat of fear and pain. Its fur and muscle would take some getting through, given its size, but if the cat could hold on, she might be able to finish it off.

Tourmaline can finish the Kooru without a roll after the critical success if she so chooses.

Tourmaline grips on, shaking her head to pierce the Kooru's neck with her fangs. The taste of blood fills her mouth. Her determination pushes her on - she's so close.

Her claws latch into the thing's front legs, attempting to hold it down and prevent it from getting away. Very little is on her mind beyond finishing the job.

Blood flowed freely; the kooru thrashed, bleating in panic. It made it to its hooves, staggering at the claws embedded in its legs, and staggered swiftly for Polaris.

Tourmaline would be carried along, half-dragged and potentially battered against the walls as the creature careened this way and that, until at last it collapsed: choking and collapsing. Its eyes remained open, staring up at the ceiling, as life faded from them and its heartbeat faltered and failed.

Its fur was thick; the meat beneath would be a tasty treat.

She does her best to ignore the pain as she's dragged over rocks and stones only slightly cushioned by the tunnel's ubiquitous moss. Some bruises would be sustained for this, but at least it was nothing life-threatening.

Tourmaline holds on for a long while after the Kooru succumbs, not willing to give up incase something wild happens. When she finally releases, the blood all over her face, she realizes she's done it. She looks down the tunnel one way, and into Polaris the other. No one in sight.

She did win, but that was thoroughly embarrassing. And unfortunately for her, her quarry ended up right at the threshold to Polaris, and she isn't exactly strong enough to drag it to an alcove. Guess she's staying right here.

Jaws tear into hide and flesh, as she tears loose a small strip of fur. Tourmaline will be fed for the next few days, at least.
