Not plants? Alright. Yvan commits this to memory, nods a little in (bewildered) understanding. "Do you think a fungus can talk someday? I mean, we're like the other creatures, just that we can talk and they can't." He still prods the ground. Eyes don't leave it for a second, even as he starts to try and bury his digits into the coarse substrate near the mushrooms.

"I don't really get why they can't talk. I guess it's good everyone I've met hasn't looked like 'em; I'm not gonna, but I don't want to eat someone on accident. You're the smallest person I've met, though, so I guess it isn't size that makes us talk."

He's just rambling on as he waits for some sort of... what, feedback, he supposes?

Mossie furrowed her brow. "I'm pretty sure they talk already, but in a language nobody else can understand. I'll figure it out someday, though." She attempts to send out feeling through the mushrooms once more.

"As for what makes us be able to talk to each other..." Mossie frowns. "It's got something to do with our stones," she says, pointing to the rock embedded in her chest. "Not all of the silent gembound lack stones, but if you see a creature without a stone, it's definitely safe to eat!"

'I've never heard mushrooms talk,' Yvan is close to pointing out, but he bites his tongue for the time being. Maybe he just doesn't understand mushrooms as well. His paw pulls back and plants itself back under himself properly as he looks down to the cluster.

Things without stones are safe to eat, but... "I don't have a stone, though?" That doesn't make sense. "I don't think I do. I couldn't find one. And my friend doesn't have one either." His hand idly messes at his chest as he frowns to the fungal growth. Underneath it, even if he doesn't know, does lie his gem— beating away just like any heart should, and yet he'd have no way of knowing. "I think it's more, uhh— ... everything that doesn't talk kind of looks the same. Those are what I've been saying is fine."
