He was worried for a moment that Eleven wasn't going to let go of his neck. He didn't like the feeling of teeth against his thick hide. What if it broke through? What if he started bleeding? He had bled before, and it was glowing and burning and he was worried it was going to hurt her. What if she accidentally ingested some? That might not be good.

Thankfully, his own attack weakened her grip and he made to follow through with another bash of his head, this time more akin to a bucking ram then a swinging mace, swinging forward and up to toss her back.

Eleven had lost her advantage as soon as she found it, reeling from the impact as a second hit was coming her way. Gravedigger was fond of using his head as a bludgeon, apparently.

She was forced to defend now, her body twisting to the side as she attempted to leap out of the way of the blow. She bounced of the ground, scattering dark pebbles in her wake, as she landed at Gravedigger's flank, ready to give biting him another shot.

So excited by his sudden success in pinpointing an attack, that he forgot about Eleven's advantage in being smaller, leaner, and more quick. He was surprised when his swing hit nothing but air.

He couldn't see her either. She'd left his limited range of sight. So, blindly, he charged forward again, trying to full-body knock her right off her feet, but all he managed to do was throw himself on his stomach in his eagerness.

Gravedigger flailed blindly again, and with a rush of excitement she realised, in this moment, she had the space to do anything she wanted. She could determine the course of the fight now, and if she was smart she could end the spar here and now.

However. She was not smart, and Eleven wasn't sure what exactly she should do. She didn't want to try and attack him from above - that's where his armor was, and he'd probably throw her off as soon as she got a grip.

Instead, she charged for his flank again, hoping to flip him over with her mouth like a turtle. That was as close to a checkmate as she was going to get, probably.

As Eleven came around to flank, the Gravedigger scrambled to his feet, determined not to lose the spar here - if she got him on his back and somehow pinned, that would be enough of a loss. As she threw herself forward to ram into his side, he felt his body start sliding, but he wasn't going down alone.

A massive paw swept out to grab her and flip her over with him so that they were both in the same disadvantageous situation for the moment. Finally, the aim was true, if everything went well, at least that strike would land.

Eleven saw a flash of movement, and felt the rough skin of Gravedigger's fore limb collide with her legs - to avoid it was to loosen her grip again, and she did not want that to happen again. Not that anything especially bad would happen, she just... hated letting go. It felt like giving up.

Instead she tried to surge forward, using her face as a scoop in order to flip him - if she succeeded, he'd be stuck, and she'd have more time. Her head was twisted to the side, teeth scraping the soft skin of his underside - not enough to draw blood, of course. It was just a specific and uncomfortable sensation.

She stumbled forward with Gravedigger, as he'd planned, still - falling into her opponent with an oof.

A tangle of limbs and rolling bodies and the Gravedigger was successfully flipped onto his back with a rumbling grunt. Instinct curled his legs forward to shield his lower abdomen, where the glow of his organs shone through the weakest point of his skin, but he was otherwise quite plated on the underside. Perhaps more so on his back.

And Eleven had gone with him, falling onto his chest with a surprised sound and he reacted accordingly. Both front limbs reached forward, grasping at the valkhound to try and smash her down against his chest and hold her there. Hopefully not crushing bones or anything - a firm grip but not a bruising one.

Gravedigger's stomach was weird. She got a good, close look at where the skin thinned most from where she'd fallen - were those his guts?

Eleven had, unfortunately, missed the fact that his chest was plated too - and that vulnerable underbelly she was looking for was further back and out of reach. Maybe it wouldn't have been the end if she'd succeeded in pushing him over without being knocked down herself.

She saw what he was about to attempt - a big, friendly hug - and as much as a hug would be nice, actually, she was about to show him why you don't try to hug V-Chaos-Eleven.

Her spines were already bristling by default, but she made an effort to stiffen them further, guaranteeing some of them would sink in and dislodge from her neck, like a splinter but much, much worse.

He wasn't thinking about the spines. Like, at all. If he had, he probably would not have attempted what he was trying to do, but by the time he realized, it was too late and they were puncturing the skin. Panic took over as glowing orange began to bead around the edges of the spines. "Off! Get off!" He grunted and quickly rolled on his side and shoved her away carefully but quickly.

As soon as the spines were leaving his arms, drops of bright orange were beginning to fall and scatter. If she resisted his shove, she might catch a couple, and, if she did, they would burn the skin they touched. The Gravedigger, adapted to the acid in his own blood didn't seem affected in the same way, leaning forward to lick the wounds that had appeared on his arms before too much blood spilled out.

He looked up at Eleven, something like...concern in his gaze. "Are you hurt? Sorry. I forgot about that."
