the bird's mother then instructed he'd not see vazi, that he'd not go and look for trouble. his head cocked slightly when she mentioned a white lion cub, being hurt, and that she was afraid it'd happen to him. ambrus couldn't help but smile a wicked grin, as if to silently, involuntarily challenge anyone to capture the eagle. he would talk to her later about it. and he would get answers. and he wouldn't allow her to leave his side, she'd come with him, he was sure of it. wouldn't she? the little rat thing addressed the eagle, and his eyes fell to him, where he was rather polite yet spoke in a weird way. an accent, maybe? ambrus simply gave a nod to the one named booker, no long willing to just trust anyone who said they were clover's friend. look what happened last time.

but his attention was drawn by the bear, as he asked for the eagle to accompany him. he hopped a few inches toward the bear, before looking back to clover. he didn't want to leave her. what if vazi came back to hurt her, take her away again? oh he'd so hoped he would, because then he could ruin the creature - kill it even. he was certain mom wouldn't allow such a thing, would stop him before ambrus could give the final strike, but ambrus wasn't certain he'd cease. wasn't certain quarter could be given. he shook his head free of the thoughts, hopped back toward clover to snuggle against her leg before taking flight with a powerful, one beat of his wings and flying low, just above and to the right of leon, so that he could maintain conversation if he should so choose.
"i don't think i've congratulated you, leon. so, congrats."
and with a heavy heart, solemn attitude, and a broken moral gauge, he forced a grin and made sure it wasn't sinister. he didn't want leon to think his animosity was directed at the bear, or the party they were planning for. he kept a slow glide, flying in a large circle every once and again to not only look back to clover and make sure she was safe, but also to maintain the matching pace of leon.
