QUESTS/EVENTS
Torrential downpours cause localized flooding and many upset cats. Along with these frequent rain, from gentle drizzles to heavy rainfall, there seems to be a flux of Magicka drawn in particular to water sources. Occasional jet streams of warm air make narrower tunnels harder to navigate. On occasion, the rain intensifies, becoming howling storms with sleet or large hail. However, the temperatures overall are a little warmer, with snow and ice in temperate caves somewhat receding.

The pup seemed quite happy with their mission, he was nodding along and smiling with a wagging tail so he had to agree with her. That filled her with even more confidence than she already had! His want to go along with her plan must mean that she was a competent leader! This coursed through her mind as she romped along, searching for a good spot to call home. Naturally she was a bit of a heavy walker but she tried to tread lightly so that she didn't accidentally cave something in. She only knew not to do that after stepping onto a a particularly soft patch of dirt and feeling the earth crumble around her white paw.
Now she nosed into burrows, sticking her face in places she probably shouldn't all for the sake of getting the perfect spot. Neither of her species were particularly suited for looking for burrows to make home but her parents did plenty of things that came unnatural to them... Just look at the flowers all over her mother's den. Just where oh where were those bases?
For a moment she thought she had found a place when she happened upon an old rabbit hole. However, after she stuck her face inside she was screamed at by a mother Walleye rabbit who was nursing her babies. With a hasty "sorry" the cub retreated. No need to disturb those guys. She just had to keep looking.
That enthusiasm never died, as he just went from one to the next, he kept sticking his head inside, digging a bit and going on. As it got closer to the wall, the holes became bigger. Hollowed out from water having once rushed past here. It was made of solid rock, something he couldn't dig, but it was big enough to fit them comfortable within it. Might need a few boulders moved to back the sides and make proper walls. Maybe it was good? Jack couldn't know for certain.
The stone was cold, and with no chance for expansion he had his doubt, but he was getting close. Cave deer bounded along the surface of the hill tops and he watched them idly, his tail still swaying behind him. So peaceful. Not calling her for any particular discovery, he howled as loud as he could, all the air emptying from his lungs, "CADENCE DID YOU FIND ANYTHING." Maybe a bit too loud, maybe there would be adults alerted. But he was sort of sure they wouldn't. Hills were good at stopping noise. Caves were good at echoing.

Around and around the little one wandered. She alternatively stuck her head into tunnels and shuffled around in little burrows. So far she was coming g up nil but it wouldn't discorage her! She would just have to look harder.
She happened upon what looked like another rabbit burrow which she stuck her head into. It seemed abandoned but it was a little on the small side. It was then that Jack gave a shout and startled the cub into hitting her head on the roof. "Ouch!" She complained to herself before exiting the tiny den and rubbing her head painfully.
"NOT YET! ILL KEEP LOOKING!" And so she did... Even if it was a bit discouraging... But wait. What was that? The cub looked near the wall and looked like some sort of opening or were her eyes deceiving her?
Giving up on his side of the hill, the dingo huffed in response to Cadence's answer. This was actually a lot harder than he initially thought it would be. Jack gave up on his side of the area, and instead galloped back to where the lioness was scouting out the walls. Despite his unbound energy, his legs were tiring him from carrying him back and forward across the never ending slopes and drops.
Just as she spotted the hole, so did he, and he glanced at her as he slowed before making to be the first one to enter. After all, he couldn't let Cadence beat him at hunting for a house! Inside, it was roomy, there were two distinct rooms connected by a centre walkway. From the outside, it was almost invisible, and he wouldn't have been able to see it if Cadence hadn't already been looking directly at it.
So it wasn't just a trick of her eyes! Jack wandered up too and began peering at the same place that she was. Pleased at her luck she forgot to act until she saw the canine running forward to get into the base before her. "I'm comin'! I'm comin'!" With a laugh she took off after him, her slower pace didn't allow her to beat him but that didn't matter. The sheer size of the place and its layout had her in an astounded silence. "Whoooaaa...." Her voice echoed around the room.
The little cubby cub squeezed into the den further and began to examine earthing further. There were rocks that looked really hard, they'd have to add some moss or something for softness. However, there was a particular rock sitting in one corner that she loved. It was made like some sort of seat and there the princess of the cave took her throne, plopping her rear down on it while she lifted her forepaws and crossed them as she looked over at her new friend and companion.
"This'll be our base! We can draw a map in here, get some moss and feathers for sleepin' and sittin'! Then when we get well-known we can write down all the adventures we've had and those that we haven't done yet. I bet people'll seek us out just to have us rescue and help'em!" The more she spoke the more enthusiastic she was becoming! "But... Should our team have like, some sort of name?" It only made sense. They couldn't be just Jack and Cadence, they had to have something cool to bind them together. "And oh oh! Could we both wear bandannas? I think it looks really cool and it could let people know that we're a team." Truthfully she just wanted to wear one too. It looked much cooler than those silly flowers Makyna tried to make her wear.
This wasn't entirely out of place for him, despite it being underground, the air that flowed in from the cracks in the roof and the entrance in the wall kept this place cool, without causing them to freeze. Jack's paw pads were cool against the ground, but only upon immediate touch. There were patches of dirt and stone and he found his tail wagging again, bashing against the rocks around him forcing him to stop.
"Totally! I'm not sure what a good team name could be though. I'm not so good at naming things. I've only named myself."It wasn't a particularly exciting name either. Jack didn't exactly scream adventure or mystery. But on comment of his bandanna, he pulled it off his ears. "Found this tattered in a cave called Eridanus, I met a bear and an eaglet there too. Looks like it was stained with blueberries or something. Either way I thought it was cool too! Maybe we can go back there and find one?" All they needed was the cloth, they could die it by themselves later as there were plenty of different berries to dye them with.
The little cub sat upon her "throne" while her muzzle wrinkled in concentration. She could think of a few but they didn't seem to fit the pair. "Maybe it'll come to us later." The white fluff concluded with a small laugh. For now, there were other things she wanted to do. Like go on their first adventure!
Cadence leaned forward to peer more closely at the cloth. "I think it looks cool! That should be our first mission! Search for a bandanna in Eridanus!" Not only would it be fun to get one herself but it would be the first time she left Pisces unsupervised! She quivered excitedly in her fur just thinking about it!
With that she leaped off of the rock and bumped her shoulder against Jack's playfully. "Come on, let's go to Eridanus!" One last look around the base before she disappeared out of the exit.
Hopefully, once the excitement of how fast this had moved wore off maybe. But that's what kids did, stuck to an idea and then just rolled with it as fast as they could until they got distracted and moved onto the next thing. This wouldn't be something they moved on from fast. Excited to head out to Eridanus, he jumped up after her. Despite his tiredness in his legs, he was ready for all the more stuff.
"OK! Let's do it." With that, he followed after his appointed leader, leaving the den they had only just discovered. But they'd remember. It'd all be fine!
