Fira was actually surprised at how quickly she managed to snag the next fish. As soon as she had turned back to the river, she’d spotted the same type of silver fish as she’d caught for Cure and immediately snapped it up in her jaws, killing it instantly. As she was biting down on it, she was also listening to her acquaintance’s description of a redfang. She was sure to file that information in her brain for later so that she knew to avoid any fish that fit the bill. Then she backed up so her paws were out of the water and went to sit beside Cure, who was now asking her about Destiny.
What could she tell the other leopard without feeling like she was sharing the deep, dark secrets about her best friend’s life? She couldn’t tell Cure that Destiny was blind, or that her gem was causing her great pain, or that it would kill her one day…
“Destiny…” she began slowly, trying to think of something positive to say.
“Destiny is a very… positive Gembound. She always sees the best in others, even when they can’t see it in themselves. I’ve never met a more optimistic person in my life.” There. Hopefully that would fill Cure’s curiosity. Under normal circumstances, Fira wasn’t a secretive Gembound; but in this particular case she just didn’t feel comfortable talking about Destiny when the platypus wasn’t here…
