CAVE STATUS
QUESTS/EVENTS
Torrential downpours cause localized flooding and many upset cats. Along with these frequent rain, from gentle drizzles to heavy rainfall, there seems to be a flux of Magicka drawn in particular to water sources. Occasional jet streams of warm air make narrower tunnels harder to navigate. On occasion, the rain intensifies, becoming howling storms with sleet or large hail. However, the temperatures overall are a little warmer, with snow and ice in temperate caves somewhat receding.
Astaroth stepped forward and pushed the owlet off of the dead rat, "How are you gonna learn if you die from starvation? Eat one, I'll eat the other, and not as "payment" either, I'm just as curious in what these things do as you are." Having said this he laid down between the owlet and the larger rat and threw one of the smaller ones at him "If you don't eat in these caves, you die, simple as that, and survival is the biggest priority of anyone, no matter how much they want to learn, especially if they want to learn because you have to be alive to learn, get what I mean?" Astaroth left no room for argument, he was intrigued by this little bird and in what he wished to learn of, he wouldn't have him keeling over in front of him.
In the midst of his examining a strangely valved organ the wolf stepped up and pushed him away from his specimen. The owl hopped backwards, feathers fluffing up as he stared at the wolf. Obviously he was offended at having been handled so roughly but his resemblance to a large puff ball was probably far from intimidating. Despite his irritation at having been shoved away from his specimen he knew that the wolf spoke truth. His feeble body would not be able to keep going if he kept treating it in such a manner but it was irritating to stop and eat all of the time. As annoyed as he was... he finally conceded.
"Affirmative. You speak truth. I will eat, not because I enjoy it but because my body needs it to continue its normal functions." So, he grabbed the smaller rat and began to tear chunks off of it which he swallowed rapidly down into his beak until he could swallow the entire thing whole. He wanted to eat as quickly as possible so that he could get back to doing what he had been. His starving body thanked him, his stomach feeling better than it had in days which gave him a tiny amount of satisfaction.
After he was done he eyed the wolf pup. "I have eaten. Now, kindly remove yourself from my carcass." He wasn't exactly tactful but his words weren't impolite. "You also never answered my question... How did you know where those two rats were hiding?" He hadn't forgotten that he'd asked and he was far too curious to just let it slip away, he needde to know the answer to this question.
Astaroth looked slightly embarrassed when he was asked this, the truth is, he was afraid of this power, he first time he tried doing it on something that was alive... was... scary. "Um... I... I have something I can do... I touch something and focus on it... if it works right then I can see something from the near past of that object... I saw the rat leaving its' den when I touched it...I can also throw my voice like I'm talking from somewhere else... like this...""Thank you for eating, I'm just as curious at what these things do as you are, I can't have you keeling over in front of me before we even get started." Astaroth said this quickly before getting up and stalking to the side, letting the young owl get to his carcass. He watched him curiously, wanting to see everything he does.

Astaroth attempts to Cast Spell — Whisper( Like this... )
The owl watched, eyes locked unblinking onto the form of the wolf as he listened to all that was said. He didn't want to miss a single word of the explanation. However, at the end of it he was confused and it showed as he stood still, even as the wolf stepped aside. How could the pup do such things? It made no sense... No one could see the pasts of things... Could they? But here was proof of such things when the wolf's voice was thrown from somewhere else. Everything buzzed about in his mind, over and over until he seemed to fall immobile, body seeming to shrink as he felt daunted by everything thrown at him.
There was just so much in the world that he didn't know. "How?" He finally said at length. "How do you do such things? You just... focus?" Could everyone do such a thing, then? Could... he?

Astaroth looked at the owl curiously... Why does he care so much? Aren't these abilities normal?"Yes... I just focus on the thing and it shows me its' past. For the voice thingy I just think of where I want my voice to come from. Sometimes they don't work though sadly, I tried to do the voice thing, I call it whispering on someone else once and it didn't work, they caught me right then. lucky they were kind and didn't try to kill me for such a prank, I was so stupid back then. You probably think I'm tricking you, I'm not, for one have you ever heard another in the caves that can copy my voice, and second, I am curious as to what these bones are for and what all these things inside these creatures are but there are things beyond our grasp, that we can't learn of from poking and prodding and study. There are things beyond us, the only thing t it is that for some, you can learn how to use these things easier than others, I've been trying to learn an even new spell but I can't quite grasp how to do it yet."
To see what was not there... Fascinating. Very, fascinating. "I believe what you say." It meant that he still had a lot to learn, more things to practice. "There are things I must practice. My work will never be done." Instead of sounding overwhelmed or daunted, however, he sounded just a bit dreamy as if the idea of filling every hour of his day with work was fantastic.
He seemed to be pleased however with Astaroth's response and after giving a nod of his head began to pick in his carcass once more. He could see many sorts of... organs and the bones which they could see scattered around Canis. He plucked one out and marveled at it. For now he was done speaking and just wanted to inspect the carcass to see what all he could glean.

Astaroth looked at the owl dully, his stomach was full and he was able to get the owl to eat, he was content with his days' work and decided to rest, he curled up next to the corpse. "If you have any more need for my hunting skills tell me later" he yawned before laying his head on his paws and sleeping.
It seemed like hours before he was finally satisfied with his findings which he decided to store the heart, lungs, and a few bones in a little crevice for looking at later. He was fine for now with what he'd learned and would continue his search elsewhere. He paused briefly to look at the sleeping wolf but decided against disturbing him. No, he was fine with finding things out on his own. So, he hopped away to new discoveries.
When Ast awoke and noticed that the owl was gone he didn't question it but decided to go look for a better place to go rest. Maybe he could go find the bone fortress he emerged in.
