The hyena pup abruptly found the bird gone, and her front end tumbling toward the rock. She let out a soft "oomph" as she hit the ground, then scrambled back to her forepaws to look around, her dark eyes wide pools.

Where did he go?!

The hyena flinched as a burst of wind fluttered against her face, Aza'zel's wings battering the air as he ascended. She even felt a tingle of something off, something... magical, recognizing it instinctively, as the bird lifted away. She immediately gave chase, wondering if perhaps the bearded vulture-friend was leading her toward more food--but then she lost him as he twisted away, winging through the darkness. Her mournful cry rang after him, echoing off the rock.

"FOOD?!... FOOOD!..."

After a few minutes of sprinting clumsily in the direction he'd gone--often tripping over stones and stumbling or sliding down rocky slopes--she stopped, panting raggedly. She was still new to this running thing, after all--and not very good at it--and her muscles quivered with fatigue.

Tears threatened to fill her eyes, but the hyena blinked them away, forcing down the confusion, loneliness and grief. Maybe he'd just gone to get more food... She would wait. She would sniff around the bone caverns, find a place to rest her poor young hyena body, and wait.

Giggle turned, a quiet chuckling sound escaping her lips, though it rang with sadness and defeat more than anything.

As she picked her way more slowly over the rock, she sometimes thought she heard the bird's return--and she'd snap her head up, looking around, only to be disappointed by the vast emptiness around her.

She was alone, again, and so soon after having made a friend, or so she'd thought. It was--... scary. Was this fear? Would she find food, again? Would something else think she was food, alone in the darkness? Gembounds were food, too, after all. Giggle sighed, and settled quietly down in a rattling pile of ribcages that at least kept the faintest scent of meat clinging to them--and began to halfheartedly gnaw on it with as dejected an expression as a hyena can make.

He'll come back. He has to come back. He brought me food.

In truth, she wasn't sure she believed that. But at least she still had the bones.
