The cave that had the pool thankfully had a pretty good stash of natural clay, which Glory gathered up in the bowl that he carried. It was harder to return back to his cave, with the extra weight, but he managed to get it there and set the bowl on the floor of his cave. He stopped for a moment, thinking about how else he was going to do this. He hadn't made anything with bone ash for a while and it took him a moment to remember the exact method. He needed...feldspar and quartz as well, to make the clay.

He had some of both in his pile, which he gathered together, along with a fairly large mortar and pestle. He dropped the quartz and feldspar in the corundum bowl and picked up the pestle, obviously made from diamond, and began crushing down with it. It took a while, even with the sharp pointed diamond, but he managed to get the two crystals into good sized chunks along with a good amount of dust. He cleared out the largest pieces and dumped the crystal dust into the clay and kneaded it carefully with his talons.

Speech. Thought.

For a while Glory simply mixed together the natural clay and the crystal dust before he suddenly stopped and hopped over to his forge. The small bones inside were starting to char a bit on the edges. There were a pair of tongs resting on his anvil that he picked up and used to get all the pieces out and into a stone bowl that sat nearby. He pushed this bowl to one of the few open areas in his cave, which had a noticeable black patch, and dumped the charred bones on the ground.

He moved the bowl back and waved with his wing, if Eythan was still there, motioning to step back. He himself also put in some distance before he sucked in a deep breath, activating the magicka in his gem. But his excitement was getting in the way of his focus and as he opened his beak to deliver a burst of flame, all that came out were a couple of embers. The feathers on his neck raised with annoyance but he forced them to lie flat.

Speech. Thought.

Attempting to scorch the bones again, Glory calmed himself and sucked in another breath. This time, when he opened his beak to breath fire on the bones, the flames actually came. They weren't as intense as he would have liked, but they got the job done. The bones were blackened now so he carefully moved them into the mortar with the tongs and crushed them easily with the pestle.

He mixed the bone ash into the clay and continued kneading, taking a little more time to mix it all together, splashing in some water from his trough as well. Finally, the mixture came together. He grabbed the strip of leather he had used to measure Eythan's neck, a small slate of metal, and dumped the bone clay on his work surface. There were a pair of leather gloves by his anvil that he donned and carefully began to form the clay into the shape he desired. Circular and smooth, he took time and care into making it look flawless, shaping the ends into bone-like shapes.

Once he was satisfied with how it looked, he very carefully opened his wings and pressed them on each sides of the metal slate. He pressed it between his wings and against his chest to move it towards the forge. He set it against the edge and carefully moved it forward so that it was right next to the fire.

He took a deep breath, the small bit of anxiety in his chest releasing and he turned to Eythan. "Alright, I'm casting the necklace now. If you could get me that bone you wanted me to decorate, and maybe another one for the center piece of the necklace, I would be most appreciative!"

Speech. Thought.

Eythan did as instructed, sticking his neck out for the eagle and then skittering back a few steps as the forge got ever-hotter. If cats could sweat, he'd be sweating bullets at this point. He watched with rapt attention as the blacksmith worked on his craft, incinerating the bones and crushing them in a strange bowl with a blunt stick. The gryphon's wings, at this point, were fully extended, trying to vent heat away from him. At the soonest opportunity to go away from the furnace fire, he took it. "Yuh," he said rather dazedly, trotting over to the immense pile of materials and sifting through the bones and ashes and dust.

Finding two bones that were to his satisfaction --- a ring-like cross section of one and a rather fresh-looking femur, he clutched them in his beak and carried them back to Glory. Eythan deposited them on the floor, as close to the forge as he could stand. "I hope these will work fine." Then, with the dip of his head, "I don't know how you can stand this heat. It's fuckin' hotter than blue blazes in here. I'm going to leave, if you don't mind? I'll be back in a cycle or so?? A little under, probably."

Then, he turned toward the exit, already relishing the whirlwind of Monoceros.

; exit Eythan unless stopped by @Glory

Glory nodded at the bones that Eythan set in front of him. The ring he'd probably have to sift down a bit and make nice and smooth but the femur was nice! He chuckled at Eythan's comment. "I guess it is. I'll see you then, and I promise I'll have your work completed and perfected!"

He watched the hybrid disappear from his forge before wasting no time in starting on his next task - the arm guards.

He had a lot of extra steel lying around, extras from other projects and stuff that he had made ahead of time. So he gathered a large chunk and sketched some more on his stone tablet. He wanted this to look precise and planned out.

Once he had a decent plan, he moved the steel to his forge and stuck it in the fire, careful to be on a different side then the clay was on. He waited for it to heat, preparing his anvil for the forging, and then quickly transferred the steel to the anvil.

He had to cut it up into different segments, one for each claw, so he did so and tossed away the remainder. He pounded at it with his hammer for a long time, continuously returning it to the fire when it grew cold, hammering some more, heating again, carefully shaping each one until they were the perfect shape. Well, not quite perfect. Glory had to admit, he could have done better, but there were ways of fixing the metal.

Speech. Thought.

Once the metal claws had cooled enough, glory donned his heat resistant gloves and moved his stuff to a dip in the ground, much of the stone burned away from this exact purpose. He opened his beak and gathered superheated saliva before spitting it on the ground. There was a sizzling sound as some of the rock floor began to melt away into lava. With his tongs in hand, he dipped a metal rod in the lava and carefully began spreading it on the imperfect bits of the claws.

He continued to melt away imperfections, scrape it away, melt some more, scrape away, until the claws were much smooth and in the shape that he wanted them to be. He took them back to his anvil, letting the lava cool down by itself. He placed them in the trough to let them cool, a sizzling, spitting noise resounding through the cave as water evaporated from the heat.

Once they were cool, he moved them to another container, this one filled with oil. As soon as they were inside, the oil began to bubble and he quickly place a sheet of metal on top to stop it from spraying scalding hot oil in his face.

Speech. Thought.
