Septiezal nodded in agreement. "Yes he will." He looked down at the stone in his claw. That same protective urge filled him as well. He wanted to coil around it until it hatched. I'd die for this gemling. He thought. Strangely, he was ok with that. As a matter of fact, it gave him a warm fuzzy feeling deep in his gut. It was a feeling Septiezal had never experienced before.

At first, he was hesitant to hand it over, but a loud snap from the thicket drove him to sense danger. He snapped is head towards it and flicked his tongue. He could taste as strange scent. There was definitely someone there, watching them. A low hiss rose in his throat. "Here, take it, quickly." He urged Phelgethon, hold it out to him. "I won't let them follow."

Septiezal reared high. Half his body was off the ground, posed to strike. "Alright!" The serpent hissed. "I know you're in there, come out, or I'll set your hidey-hole ablaze!"

Phlegethon's skin crawled with the sound of a Lesser again, but the snapping of twigs drove it to believe that other things lurked in the mire - things that could be larger, more dangerous. A soft, staticky waaaa! echoed from its form as its head lunged out. With perfect aim, the ceature snapped up the stone (leaving a delightful bunch of chaotic slime across his talons.)

With another waaaaaaaah! of warning towards the underbrush - to possibly scare the thing out of its wits - Phlegethon turned and dove into the swamp.

Ah shit. Well, he didn't want to catch on fire.

"Alright, alright, I'm coming out"

The Opal stepped out of the ferns. He noted the crazed look in the serpent's eye. He'd seen it before. Fear. This snake had seen some shit. He had to careful. "Easy.. easy. I mean no harm." He put up a webbed paw as if to show he wasn't hiding anything. The Opal dipped his head, relaxed his posture. This was a compromising position, it should make the snake feel more comfortable. "Sorry for startling you, I just needed to make sure you weren't... with the Masters." He cut his eyesback up to the snake. "You see.. I'm looking for the Children of Rot. I need to speak with your leader."

Septiezal hissed as the stranger slunk out of his hiding space. Uneasiness crept up his spine. Was he watching us? He hissed again.

Septiezal had never seen a gembound like him before. He was slimy and purple, with a body shaped much like his own if it was built for swimming instead of slithering. Their most distinctive feature, however, were their three, bulbus, yellow eyes; one which dangled on a tentacle in the middle of their forehead. That one seemed to have a mind of its own.

He tightened his stance uneasily, even after they apologized. But then, they mentioned the masters. He glanced around, suddenly aware of the possibly of them showing up.

"You see.. I'm looking for the Children of Rot. I need to speak with your leader."

Septiezal froze at the mention of the Children, and gave the eel a strange look. He flicked his tongue. "Whatever you can Dragon, you can tell me." He grunted.

The eel gave him an interesting look, but what they had to say was even more interesting.
