Torrential downpours cause localized flooding and many upset cats. Along with these frequent rain, from gentle drizzles to heavy rainfall, there seems to be a flux of Magicka drawn in particular to water sources. Occasional jet streams of warm air make narrower tunnels harder to navigate. On occasion, the rain intensifies, becoming howling storms with sleet or large hail. However, the temperatures overall are a little warmer, with snow and ice in temperate caves somewhat receding.

Fairy squealed, first with shock and then with delight, when the little piglet burst onto the scene out of seemingly nowhere. She, like Comet, hadn't expected anyone else to show up at all but perhaps someone else had been attracted by the magic display or - better yet - by the rainbow she'd conjured. She landed herself on the ground, knowing that if she stayed in the air and continued to get excited, she'd probably end up flying away.
Scuttling up to the little piglet, she cooed happily at the sight of them. "Awww, now aren't you a precious little thing! What's your name, you little cutie!" She seemed delighted at the new company, antennae waving happily at it took in the scent of this new one, every one of her eyes focused on the piglet, apparently having briefly forgotten that Comet was even there.
It was like the snow was talking to him. Or maybe it was the stone that sat atop the mound, gleaming where it sat. He stared up at that oddly shaped protrusion with a curious expression on his face - something like awe, which twitched and vanished after a minute or so.
Something moved on the ground by his face, drawing his big dark eyes towards a slanting focus. It looked like a tiny flap of skin. At first he could not get his eyes to work right and thought, 'Is that my ear, have I lost it?'
As a response to this thought, his ears flicked - left, then right. The right one felt more present than the left, startling him with how acute the feeling was. He'd forgotten that he'd torn it.
"What's your name, you little cutie?" the skin-flap seemed to squeal up at him. It took a moment for him to recognize there had been two voices all along. Two voices, two beings. Did they both have names? Did he?
His little face pinched in a frown. "Nnn.. naaay, name?" 'Come on, you know this.'"Name, um... L'ddos. Luh.. Lidth..." His tongue still felt heavy; would he ever get used to that? "Lithos." There, finally.

Comet
Arctic Wolf
Comet saw that the fairyfly seemed just as excited to see the piglet burst out of the snow. And she was forgotten. That was okay though, she didn't mind, she could tell that Fairy was the kind of animal that drifted from one thing to another. She was going to ask what the little pig's name was, but Fairy got to it first.
Although both of their greetings were pleasant, the piglet seemed to be confused, but she wasn't sure why. She saw that one of their ears was torn. Maybe from hatching? She knew that the edges of broken gems of a chrysalis could be quite sharp.
"Well hello Lithos! Do you want to join us? We were just, um, talking." Comet hoped the piglet would stay a bit longer, it was enjoyable meeting new animals.
She cooed with delight at the adorable little baby, fluttering up, her long stick-lick legs reaching to embrace the child out of a sudden rush of affection. "Oh, listen to you! You must be so young! Oh, precious thing you are so cute! I wanna keep you!" Her wings fluttered, scattering sparkling dust behind her as she tried to pull the child into a squeezing hug - the best a giant butterfly could do, really. She was just over the moon meeting such a sweet little thing!
Comet's voice reminded her that the wolf was still there and she turned part of her gaze over to the other friend. "Yes, join us! I'm Fairy and this is Comet!" She released the little piglet and stood back up, her wings folded up behind her neatly. "We were talking about magic - do you have it too? Is it pretty?"
Their voices became a ringing in his ears. One was too shrill, the other low but quick, and after a pause the piglet drew back a step as if the distance might cause the momentary chaos to lapse. The pink creature moved as if to grab him and he did not like the sight of those spindling legs reaching for him - there was something unsettling about it.
But then there was talk of magic - what was magic? It was pretty, said the bug. Maybe Lithos had something pretty they could show off too? They tilt their little head, ears flapping, mouthing the word as if to chew it over: 'magic, magic, magic, magic...'
"How...?" Lithos blurts, eyes big and dark and staring emptily at them both.
The butterfly looked really enthusiastic about the piglet, but the small pig shied away from their touch."How?" asked the piglet. That was a good question. How did she cast spells? There wasn't really a way that she could explain it. She just-- did it. Comet looked to the fairyfly, who would hopefully have some helpful input for the small pig.

If Lithos pulled back from her touch, Fairy wouldn't pursue, stepping back herself to give him some space. But it didn't seem to put down her mood at all, looking from the little piglet to the wolf, who had glanced at her, and back again. "Oooooo okay! I can explain it!" She suddenly turned around and opened up her wings, trying to rear up as best she could so that she was presenting the back of her thorax to Lithos.
"You see that little stone there? It's all pink and purple! That's my gemstone! That's where my magic comes from!" Once he had the chance to get a good look, she turned back around and set herself back down on the ground, wings folding up again. "I can't see yours, but it's somewhere!" Perhaps if she had better eyesight, then she'd be able to spot the green-colored iris stone, but, alas, she did not.
"What you gotta do is think about the spell you wanna do. Or just try to focus on your gemstone, okay? And then you...wish! Wish with all your heart!" And, as she sad that, she wished for her entire body to glow a soft pink color and it did so - her wings, thorax, head, and legs all giving off a lovely pink light. "See? It's easy! You try! You try and do something! We all do different things!"

The explanation did not clarify things too much. It sounded simple enough though - there was a piece of the pink creature that could do magic and he should have a piece like that too, somewhere, which could funnel the same energy. All it took was a wish.
Lithos took this information in stride. There was no doubt within him. He was too new to have reservations about such concepts as magic and reality, and as he had been born in to this reality of caves and stones and messy piecemeal creatures, it all seemed reasonable enough.
"Wish," he mimics, his little face scrunching in to a concentrated scowl. "Wishy wish.. I.. I do wish."
He squeezed his eyes shut, and focused all of his energy on his wish. Had his eyes been open then the green flare of his magic would have been all too obvious, but all he saw was black. The magic came and went. He opened his eyes after, with the green dissipating across his blind eye, but otherwise there was nothing remarkable to show for the effort.
"Did I do..?" He asks belatedly, looking around to see if there was any change anywhere. All that happened was a strong feeling that there was more out there than just the wolf and the flutter-thing, but it wasn't enough. It certainly wasn't showy.
The fairyfly had explained things perfectly. They put things into words which was exactly what the feeling of using magic was. "Yes." Comet nodded her head vigorously in agreement. She thought about her own gem, the blue that stood out against the otherwise pure white of her body. Now that she thought about it, the magic really did come from her gemstone ear.
She watched as the little piglet attempted to cast their first spell. She wondered what it would be, and what kind of spell he could cast. Would he have water magic? Like her? But Comet knew the chances of that were low. When they opened their eyes, she could not tell if the spell had worked or not. If it did work, it certainly wasn't very visible. Comet sat down and tilted her head. "Did it work?"
She watched with bated breath, the glow slowly fading from her body, as Lithos concentrated, murmuring wishes (that made her heart completely melt) and then...cast! But...nothing really happened. He just opened his eyes without having anything changed. No light, not water, no plants growing from the ground, no nothing, really. She tilted her head, antennae waving. "I didn't see anything happen...but did you feel anything? I know some spells don't make things but make feelings!"
She would be very sad if the piglet had failed or, worse, didn't have any magic at all. She couldn't imagine being without her pretty rainbows, light shows, and baby plants! And she bet that Comet would have a hard time without her pretty water!
