Aran didn't expect to be shoved, but he was, and the deer was pushed back a siginifigant distance. His back legs had given out, the front ones still standing. It would take time to get up - time he didn't have. Maybe he could get away with using spells from here, even if the Alligator tried to take out one of his legs. There was no way Aran would let the thing succeed anyway.

It was times like this when he cursed himself for knowing nothing about fighting physically. But still, he could use his magic, and he had an array of magic he could use.

Round 3/5
Attempting: Make Elias feel worse
Defense: None
Injuries: Bite marks on leg, currently pushed over
ROLL
8
Aran attempts to Cast Spell — Accelerate ( idk what this is gonna do if it works but hopefully it makes Elias feel worse lol )
Barely Successful!

Whatever that deer did next didn't work and Elias was thankful. He already felt terrible on the inside - not for starting the fight but for whatever magic got used on him. That had to be magic, couldn't be anything else. Elias simply didn't get sick out of nowhere. That's not how things worked!

With the deer shoved over, though, if his attacks worked he could win, and maybe get a dinner out of it if the deer didn't run away. Or if the other deer didn't decide to help. He moved to clamp his jaws on a leg again. Except he didn't realize that his breathing is still wonky and that he might not be able to keep a hold on long.

Round 4/5
Attempting: Bite leggy
Defense: None
:Injuries: My man is having trouble breathing, feeling kinda hot, n sick
ROLL
20
Elias attempts Physical Combat ( b i t e one of the back legs )
Critical Success!

Aran felt the teeth connect to one of his back legs. Oh. Okay. Not good. This was starting to get bad. It hurt too - the teeth on his leg made his skin burn in a way that reminded him of the batcat jrs from before. That made his heart race. Stop thinking about it. He demanded at himelf in his brain. It didn't work much. Aran didn't forget, and couldn't forget the feeling the teeth in his skin from those tiny things gave. it made the scars from it itch.

His magic attempted to activate again.

Round 4/5
Attempting: Make Elias feel worse - speed up the process of rejection
Defense: None
Injuries: Bite on leg, shoved over, and is being bitten on one of his back legs
ROLL

[Posting twice with Aran bc the fight is ending here]

Aran didn't notice before but the searing pain in his leg felt worse than it would have if it was a simple bite, any movement he or the alligator made was just another sharp feeling sent up his leg and through his body. That was bad. That was very, very bad. And then his spell backfired, hitting himself instead of the gator. He could already feel himself growing worse, the injuries he did have started to ache. Did he give himself an infection?

Shit.

But before the alligator could attack him again, the chrysalis formed in his stead, bright green and color and unable to be moved from its spot in Canis. It was the second time something like this happened to the deer.

Aran would awaken two weeks later restored... but defunct. His eyesight would not properly reform at all, his eyes glassy and nearly- or wholly-sightless. This could, in the future, possibly be healed in further chrysalis reformations.

Defunct - Senses may be affected.
+ Roll for severity. (20/20 - severe)
+ Roll for location. (1/5 - sight)

Since this is a very harsh consequence, it will be left to the player to decide if the character can see flashes of shapes and color/shade, or if they are wholly blind.

Honestly, Tahi-shei had been about to interrupt the fight anyway -- he could see how battered Aran was, and how ill the alligator, and anxiety and turmoil had been twisting in his stomach. But then crystal began to spiral up around Aran, and he let out a cry. "Aran!" He lurched forward, pressing his nose to the chrysalis and whirling on Elias with hard eyes. "You monster!" he snapped, putting himself between the creature and the chrysalid but not moving to attack him. Tahi-shei had nothing to hurt Elias from a distance, and he'd seen what those teeth could do.

He stamped his foot. "We didn't do anything to you!" Tahi shrieked, not bothering to bring up that Aran had definitely been trying to kill Elias in retaliation -- on his behalf. But Elias had no way of knowing that, and here he was trying to permanently disfigure the poor barasingha? He also had no clue why Elias was starting the fight in the first place. "You ought to be ashamed of yourself," he said coldly. "The universe will repay your violence." Or, rather -- he would. One day.

Elias felt gross, gross and sick. It was clear that the deer had been trying to do something with that sickness, but whatever it was, it didn't work. Before Elias could yank on the leg, the chrisalys began building around the gembound and the gator was forced to let go or otherwise face the concequences of getting caught in it. His jaws were still open, breathing through the heat inside his throat.

And then the smaller one started yelling.

Elias didn't take him to be unlawful, but even if he was, it was the deer that tripped over him first.

"Maybe your friend should watch where he's walking then." The gator grumbled out before turning away from the smaller one.

Attempted exit

Unadulterated rage surged through Tahi-shei, and distantly, he recalled something Pride had said about killing in self-defense. This creature was violent! Aggressive and-- and unreasonable. If he was willing to hurt someone to chrysalis for stepping on him when he camouflaged into the ground, then he was dangerous. Tahi-shei swallowed -- Maybe I can ask Madhukar to-- no. No, I... cannot let others fight my battles, not any longer. He frowned and turned back towards the chrysalis. He'd yet to encounter this, but he knew that Aran couldn't be... dead, since he already knew about Oil and Decay.

It looked more like the egg Tahi had hatched from -- how long did it take for chrysalises to hatch...? He could not remember. Still, he wanted to be there when Aran woke up -- he wanted to apologize to him. So, he'd visit regularly. And, very likely, promise to take out Elias on his own time. Tahi-shei was not amused.
