Marrow
flowers growing in my lungs

The Bark-Climber's relentless optimism brings a subtle smile to Marrow's face as she works, finalizing the satchel in front of her. "There's always a first time for everything. Maybe one day I'll climb a tree for the first time," she jokes, finding the idea ridiculous to herself even as she speaks it.

The bear is clearly built for this kind of thing. Even if she hadn't mentioned the idea of a bear not climbing a tree being ridiculous, well—the sap coating her claws and the scrapes lining the bark of the tree itself are evidence enough.

But her? She's simply made to be terrestrial, from the tips of her shoulders to the bottom of her hooves. She can run, sure; run fast, enough to run down slower mice even if her magic fails her—but vertical movement seems simply beyond her. The most she can do is stand up on her hind legs to reach for something.

Maybe she should find a way to remedy that, some day…?

Ah, that's a thought for another time. For now, she lets herself fall into an almost trance at her work, weaving and gluing and bending leaves together with practiced focus. A few more go on the outside to strengthen the bag, and on its back, she bends a leaf in the middle before gluing it on to make a handle for the loop of a vine to go through.

Speaking of which…

"Oh, yes!" Marrow says, looking up from her work. "Let's see—hold your arm out like that, would you?"

She leans forwards to look at the bear's arm, before glancing back down to the ground, willing her magic into the soil and attempting to encourage a shoot or two to grow. The stems should serve well enough for construction purposes, if she braids them together…

Luckily, the shoots come with ease, new plantlife sprouting from the soil before her hooves. She waits, a few beats, for the plants to finish growing, and then leans down and snips one from the soil with a careful bite. With a bit of finagling, she lays the shoot over her ankle, and holds it up next to the bear's outstretched arm.

"I figure a few more of these should make a loop big enough to wind around your arm," she says absentmindedly.

TEMA, the Voidkin
There can be love in Chaos; just follow the Void
[Image: l87nhNk.gif]

Tema laughed at the deer's joke. It would be near impossible for her to climb straight up with hooves, but the bear was certain she would beat her in other things. Agility, she guessed. Her own weight made her movements loud and though she could run decently fast, she couldn't keep it up for long.

Then again, the bear briefly wondered if something sticky like sap would allow the deer to climb if it held a basket so well. Thinking on it however, Tema came to the conclusion that it would just stick the poor deer to the tree wherever she first planted her hooves, if it even worked at all... it was best not to try it.

She watched the weaving process again, feeling a wave of calm wash over her as the rhythmic movements continued over and over until she was pulled out of it by a request. She offered her arm obediently, smiling at the plants that sprouted from the ground. That's how she could help! It did get pretty tiring after messing with plants for too long, so she'd try to save the Leaf-Weaver some energy.

Shifting to set her free paw on the ground, Tema ignored the dirt sticking to her fur and instead focused her energy on what was below the ground. She hadn't given life to forgotten seeds in a long time, but the more she tried the better she'd get. She hoped, at least.

"There!" She called as sprouts began to worm their way through the soil, reaching for her paw again. Warmth flooded her and her eyes shone as she watched for a bit before turning forward again. "You're already folding and gluing, so I'll help you grow these." She nodded, still giddy from the feeling of magic washing over her.
