"Tasty lessers... yes." Callum licked his lips in the thought of finding more prey. And then Mossie bolted. "Hey! Wait up!" he followed after, though at a slower pace because of his size. Instead of taking the time to step over bushed he just ran right through them, leaving a dragon sized hole behind him. "HELLO!?" Callum had lost sight of the cat. She had just... disappeared. "WHERE ARE YOU?"

Mossie only barely caught herself from falling, claws shredding themselves on smooth black stone as she skidded blindly. The opening was only barely big enough for her to fit inside, and she scrambled back into the light on instinct.

"Here!" she called. "I found some weird...hole...I nearly fell into. I bet it's got All Sorts of undiscovered yummies, but its too small for you to fall into too...d'ya think there's any more?"

Callum ran over to where her voice came from, happy that she hadn't died or something. That was totally possible considering the size of lessers that lived around here. "Weird. There should be a larger one around here somewhere." Though he doubted there would be a dragon sized hole around here. But everything here was mega-sized. The trees, the lessers, the plants... so surely it would be possible to find a hole he could fit in? "I'll look around!" The dragon starts to scout around the area, poking his head into every fern to see if it was hiding a hole behind it.

The interior of the tunnel was damp, dark, trickling with the moisture of the jungle. Its exit was swathed with vines and ivy, thickly-covered, but the musty scent was a dead giveaway to its location.

Inside, the tunnel was rapidly swallowed up by darkness. The stone here, too, was rough and rain-pitted, though a gentle breeze--very warm--ran upward and out, as though this were some form of heat vent.

A faint light cascaded down somewhere farther in--but it seemed only to be a narrow gap to a hole in the mountain above. To pass beyond, the two would need a source of light--or to trust in their abilities to navigate the darkness.

Mossie darted after Callum, body buzzing with excitement. When she spotted the larger tunnel, she could barely restrain herself from jumping up and down.

She's already got a hallucinogenic head, and a funky rock, and now there's TUNNELS.

Mossie is, of course, entirely unfazed by the lack of light--but her compatriot might be. She takes a few cautious steps in--then remembers. Callum's currently lit himself on fire.

"Yknow, I didn't know why you lit yourself on fire at first, other than to look cool," she admitted. "But now I see you're secretly a genuis, woah..." She beckons with a flick of her tail.

Callum had to admit, he was a bit surprised there was a hole of his size around here. Those were not something that could be considered common. He brushed away the vines covering the entrance, the heavy scent increasing in intensity. Why was there a breeze coming through here? That meant it had to lead to another open area, and not just to a dead end. Perhaps it was like Leo, with its heat vents and tunnels.

Mossie's excitement was contagious and he soon found himself looking forward to exploring what could be inside despite how dark it was. But he wasn't scared! "Of course, I knew we would come across a tunnel like this!" He tried to refresh the spell, but it didn't work. Oh well, it didn't matter too much. Not a lot of time had passed yet, so it wouldn't fade tooooo soon. "Let's go!" And Callum bounded into the tunnel, leading the way.

While Callum's spell gave his eyes a faint glow, it did nothing to actually cast light to see by. The tunnel, past the single point of light, was plunged quickly into darkness.

The two could attempt to press on, but would be doing so in pitch darkness.

It was strange, though... right at the edge of the fading light, where drips of water plopped in from above... were those carvings on the wall?

Mossie was glad Callum wasn't chickening out, even though it turned out his funky fresh spell, while still incredibly funky, wasn't the best for seeing.
BUT!

There was something on the wall.

She darted forward, though not so quickly as to outpace her companion, towards the faintest hint of something embedded in the dark stone, and runs her paws over the carvings, trying to discern their meaning.

The glowing from his eyes didn't help as much as he thought it would, but no matter! He wasn't afraid of the dark! It just made things rather inconvenient. Confidently leading the way through the tunnel and unable to see directly in front of him, he allowed the distant pinprick of light to be his guide. Noticing Mossie speed up, he too increased his pace until they arrived at the carving on the wall. How strange. Callum tried to discern what it was, glancing at Mossie to see if she knew what it was saying.

The carvings were dirty with moss and soil, damp, and timeworn with age. Yet even past the eon-smoothed edges, two figures were visible. Both--one beside the other--were carved side-on, their heads pointed toward the deeper tunnel, tails toward the exit, as if moving deeper into the bowels of the volcano.

The first was quite small, quadrupedal, its tail sweeping out behind it before curling up in an idle sort of loop. Faint holes were visible all over this one--spots, maybe?

The second, positioned behind it, was a long shape, its sweeping tail ending in a broader shape--but the stone had been chipped away, here. Large wings, like finned hands, extended up from its back, and two distinct horns pushed up from the back of a short-muzzled face.

Anything further down the tunnel was lost to the blackness.
