After some time simply relaxing, he moved and slipped back into the waters that felt like home in a different sort of way. Comfortable, but lacking the love that he associated with home normally.

He tried to gather his stealth skills yet again. This time, it worked, and he felt the stealth easing over him as he sunk into the depths where his prey lurked.

They thought they were predators, but compared to him, they were prey, they would soon find.

He tried to find fish. Alek, however, failed to find any fish at all.

It was better than finding fish and scaring them away, he supposed, still quite relaxed from his time on the beach.

All Alek needed to do was try again.

Once more, Alek tried to find fish. Once more he failed, and he could feel his calm from the meditative relaxation beginning to slip away.

He would find fish, he was determined to find fish. Perhaps they were a little deeper in the water than he had dived, he considered.

That must be it, surely.

Alek dove deeper into the depths. Perhaps the fish now knew that they were being hunted, but his stealth remained undisturbed even if he had not yet found his prey.

Yet, there still were no fish. He considered another option, that they had moved higher into the waters, that he had dived a little too deep.

And so he would try again.

It was not above either, but another strategy occurred to him as he sunk back to the prior depth. He was an ambush predator. His antlers were as effective as the fish's glowing.

So why not wait for the prey to come to him, perhaps?

And so he did. And a fish came, a few of them. But one was drawing especially close to him.

Unaware as the fish was, Alek attempted to incapacitate it. It succeeded, if barely. He incapacitated it and then swallowed it, barely chewing. It was one of the smaller of these fish.

The bones crushed easily in his jaws, and the scent of blood entered the water, just a bit. Enough to act as a lure, perhaps.

He would try and see if the other fish would investigate the scent.

There was just enough blood to tempt, he thought, without giving away the game. Enough to smell like prey and not a predator, he hoped.

From the distance, Alek watched, and he waited. Nothing came, not yet. But this was a more familiar patience he could reach for, this lurking. He had not given away his position. He would continue to wait.

He existed, ever so patient, waiting for the next fish to be lured by either blood or light. One swam somewhat close, and he thought he might be able to get it.

Alek would wait a moment longer, and then lunge. He continued to exist, nigh motionless, a simple luring of prey and a planned ambush in his mind.

When he considered the fish close enough, he lunged for it suddenly. It almost got away, as he first grabbed at his tail before the rest, but he was able to drag it in.

Not without the other fish being alerted, however. He contently ate his catch, and then he would consider what he might try next in this combination of fishing and training.

He was not yet full, for his large size required an equally large amount of food.

It was time to find a new spot in which to hunt, he decided. Near, but not too near. Far, but not too far. A just right hunting spot.

He did not quite succeed. There were one or two fish here, but not enough that luring was his preferred method of choice.

Stealth would be best, he decided.
