Azure laughed delightedly, looking over the squiggly pink snake with a contented expression.
When she'd first run into Dewberry, she'd been... afraid. Afraid, and stressed, and--well, it hadn't been pleasant. What if Dewberry was just like the rest of them-? And after that, she'd worried; what if Dewberry were as damaged as she was?
She hadn't told Dew the half of it--how she'd found out who her parents truly were, or how Blackberry had forced Huckle to kill a kid, and revive its stone, to make her. The horror settled, cold, in the pit of her gut every time she thought about it even now--nauseating, dizzying. But right now?
Right now, all of that was forgotten.
Right now, all she was thinking about was the bright splash of color her new, beloved sister had drawn on the wall. She was thinking about Dewberry's happy voice. About how the snake was being given an opportunity to learn, to create, to add something fun to her life. About how they were both enjoying themselves, together, and what might come next.
All the rest? For now, that had fallen away.
Azure stepped up to the painting again. "It's perfect. That a smile? It suits you," she added, tail flicking, warm humor in her tone. She pushed her beak to the wall. A flicker of magic coursed through the paint, the pink sparkling dye now flaring up with a bright glow--then settling back into its star-speckled glimmer. "There," Azure said, happily. She turned toward Dewberry again, blue eyes bright. "What would you say about learning to make strings and cords..?" she asked; if Dewberry were interested, she had plenty she could teach her.
Plenty they could share.
