QUESTS/EVENTS
Torrential downpours cause localized flooding and many upset cats. Along with these frequent rain, from gentle drizzles to heavy rainfall, there seems to be a flux of Magicka drawn in particular to water sources. Occasional jet streams of warm air make narrower tunnels harder to navigate. On occasion, the rain intensifies, becoming howling storms with sleet or large hail. However, the temperatures overall are a little warmer, with snow and ice in temperate caves somewhat receding.
Giggle waited, patiently. She hadn't liked the idea of rolling on her side--exposing her belly to that long, sharp beak--but Azure seemed trustworthy enough. That didn't mean Giggle wasn't once again fidgeting on the ground, stray thoughts tormenting her, as she waited.
But... it was done, in the end--and when she stood, the dye on her left flank was not (after a quick glancing check) even smudged. She looked down at the leg-band, lifting the paw, setting it down, then walking a short circle. "It fits just fine," she said, hoarse voice almost motherly in how reassuring her tone sounded. Her agitation was again forgotten.
The old hyena paced to the water pan, and stared at her reflection. Now she looked just right: the baubled stone illuminated the skull-face from beneath, her reflection a skull with dark eyes swimming in the water below.
She looked to Azure. "Not to keep repeatin' myself, but. It's perfect. You did great." She was pleased--deeply so. The paint looked mystical, colorful, adding to Giggle's own natural shades; it looked just a little sinister, but not so much as to be untrusting. And the cords of bones, primitive as they were (and that did just add to the appeal, really) looked to her like pure artistry.
"It's fantastic. Thank you. Can I help you clean up, at all?" she offered, glancing around the now-messy workspace--at the scraps of leather lying here and there, the uncapped jar of water, the mortars wet with unused dye, and the brushes in the pan.
Azure shrugged, a little, glancing around. It wasn't the sort of thing she'd normally ask, but she was finding that her magic use had worn her down, and her body was screaming for rest.
Sure, uh--just dump the pan water into the mortars, maybe? I can do the rest myself, I'm just... exhausted," she explained. "It's all that magic use, you know-? Stick around, though, I'll tell you how I handle leather. How to make it, like, soft and not rotten," she explained.
She moved to the first big scrap, and resolved to let the hyena take this back with her--Giggle could, she reasoned, wrap up her 'shipments' of bones and skins in this to carry them back with. But for now, she used it to gather up all the little bits of cord--picking them up, putting them in, and eventually lifting the whole thing to carry them away, where she dumped them into another broad, shallow bowl full of similar leather scraps.
Giggle, meanwhile, was struggling with the water jar.
"Right, so for leather, the important thing is that you don't let it just sit..." Azure began...
