Panic ran thick in his throat and his heart as the seconds ticked by and still no sign of Dove appeared. But it wasn't until the monster called out his name that he knew what a disaster this whole thing was. Dread filled him and right on the heels of that dread came a riding shockwave that ran straight through his legs and through his entire body.

His teeth clapped together, piercing his tongue and filling his mouth with blood as his whole body convulsed and thrashed onto the ground. It was lucky his throat closed in the spasms, keeping him from making more than a few guttural sounds of pain.

It was all he could do to claw the ground and drag himself to the torn out hollow of a tree to curl up into a dejected, shivering, twitching ball, feeling every nerve and muscle in his body burn.

Due to Kay purging characters and starting over I am finishing this thread as we agreed and with permission for Basil's death.

It was silent, ears twitching to the sound of his own rising stomach. Ravenous and growling it shifted like coiled snakes, churning his gut in a display that was fighting the creeping anxiety. The numbing buzz tingling the ends of his nerves from the anger he had unleashed through the soil, a pulse; a taste of what was to come. Desperately he took another step into the abyss, greedily devouring any sound that was given to him. Until finally he snapped to the right, the low guttural sounds of pain. Low and but a whisper. Something desperate, clawing out from a throat; screaming for release. He knew that sound better than most, twisted smile on lips he approached. Inhaling the darkness, slowly raking in the bitter traces of that vile aardwolf.

He could feet it, the great emerging roots of a tree, twisting up and through the soil like any other in this vast forest. Step by step he could practically feel the breathe escaping him. Could feel the ends of his fur rise up in response to the static slinking through another with venom. It was as fated, turning with heavy breath. White eyes greeted with emerging light, darkness giving up its grasp of pity on the pathetic beast. A small, shivering creature, eyes as wide as Vicktor's own in appetite. A purr escaping his throat, today was his day. Sneer cracking across his jaw he lunged, dragging the aardwolf out from the cover of the hallow torn tree. Claws sinking into tender flesh, pulling them from safety, a simple fling and he send them backwards. Claws slamming them to the ground, heavy with certain effort. Spine tingling from that favored crack of a vertebrae; a gut wrenching gasp partnered by a whine.

He had waited for this day, thoughts swirling on what the best action would be. Caution though, thrown to the wind he would revel in this delight; messily and like a child at play. Primitive and hungry, he snarled, claws pushing down on their muzzle; muffling their protesting screams. Basil did offer his heart, he offered anything for her. Just as he had done to Clover so long ago...ruining everything. And as promised he would take the payment for all those cycles of misery. This, was his apology; for the both of them.

Maw open he engulfed their chest, saber fangs piercing tender hide and cracking through their ribcage. Pulling back with force like that of Thanksgiving leftovers he made quick work to open the chest cavity. Ripping sinew and muscle from one another, blood pooling forth as viscera greeted his snout. Heart untouched and dazzling his senses from a peculiar stone placed just at the front of it. Snapping what remained in his jaws was easy, turning attention to hollow this meal. Devouring ever last shred in ecstasy, bones and all like pretzel sticks. The heart though, was left to be last. White eyes trailing over the stone, he had no desire to claim it. It was worthless, unlike his other mementos. Heart on tongue he popped it, chewing through the thick muscle strands. Spitting up the stone in his final moments of the meal. Gaze half lidded he spat on it, fangs bared in disdain. Who knows, maybe someone would bring him back...Vicktor was always one for easy meals...
