I can't seem to tag users successfully, as I'm not familiar with this forum host, rip.
Thank you both so much for the warm welcome!
I’m definitely not excited for vet classes; I can handle blood and gore and the like just fine when it comes to fiction, but in real life it’s a struggle, and dying animals make me immensely sad. But hopefully I’ll be able to get through it, and I won’t have to take too many related courses, as I don’t plan on becoming a vet, though I look up to them a lot and respect the work that they do!
I checked out your intro post, and Mako and Bolin are cute names! I haven’t seen Legend of Korra, but I’m assuming that’s where the names came from? I have to admit, I first thought of mako sharks when I saw 'Mako', but I imagine that's unlikely to be the inspiration for the name.
My kitties are named Rosa, Lucy Pearl, and Lola. Rosa is absolutely the sweetest cat I’ve ever met; she can be bossy and insistent, but she loves to snuggle, and she’s one of my biggest sources of emotional support. She’s getting on in years, but she’s still doing all right. She’s a beautiful gray tabby, and she loves to give me nose kisses! Lucy Pearl is a tiny lilac point siamese; she can be skittish, but she’s very good at getting into trouble, especially where yarn is involved – I don’t knit much at the moment, but my mom does, and Lucy loves to help. She snuggles sometimes, though she is always moving and can’t really seem to find a good position where she can settle down. Lola is a big black cat, and she’s scared of new people, but I like to think that she loves everyone and everything. She adores our dog, which is amusing because the other two cats hate him and succeed in bullying him by staring him down, even though he’s significantly larger than them. She likes to lick plastic, and whenever I enter the bathroom she’ll follow me in to lick the shower curtain! The noise is a bit annoying, but it’s fun to watch. She’s the most talkative of the three (though Lucy, when she does meow, is the loudest; and Rosa just sounds like she’s in pain but really she just wants me to open my door to let her into my room), and whenever she meows I like to try to have a conversation with her, and it generally lasts for a while before one of us gets bored and walks away! She doesn’t snuggle at all, but she loves having her chin scratched.
That was a bit long, but yeah, those are my cats! As I said, I love them a lot, and I miss them terribly when I go away to boarding school (I also miss my family, of course, but at least I can talk to them on the phone).
I’m sorry to hear about your snake experience. My snake – Nagini’s her name, though it’s not exactly fitting – has only tried to bite me once, and she didn’t break the skin. It was my bad, though. She was hungry and I was being a bit reckless, and evidently she thought my hand was food! She lashed at me but quickly pulled back, and I made sure to feed her soon after. Now I’m a bit more careful whenever I open her cage when feeding time is approaching! Beardies are lovely, though. I nearly got one, but I decided on a snake instead, as I’d been wanting one for years and found one on Craigslist who needed rehoming.
I mostly play on PC; I don’t have a dedicated gaming computer, though, just a new-ish Mac and a relatively old Windows, but so far they’ve met my needs, as I’m not much of a hardcore gamer. My brother has a Playstation of some kind, though I’m admittedly not sure which – probably should find that out, because he’d let me use it! – and my family owns a Wii, which is rarely used nowadays. I also have a 2DS that I mainly use for Pokémon.
I haven’t heard of that series! Despite being a self-proclaimed fan of certain genres, my knowledge of books in those genres is embarrassingly low, and I haven’t read all that many books from said genres, at least not recently – I was a much more avid reader when I was younger. But it definitely looks interesting, and the first book is only three dollars on Kindle, so I think I’ll check it out (even though I just got a huge stack of books at a book sale…. Mostly nonfiction, though). How much of it have you read, and are you enjoying it? (If you want to continue this conversation, that is! If not, that’s totally fine.)
It’s so cool that you’re making a game! I got RPG Maker VX Ace during a huge steam sale, but I haven’t done anything with it yet, mainly because I’m an abysmal artist and wouldn’t be able to draw any of the things I want to draw. Would you mind sharing more about your game, or would you rather keep it to yourself?
Hunters Unlucky looks neat – thanks for the recommendation! My favorite books are those that are similar to Watership Down and Tailchaser’s Song and the like – this seems like it might fit the bill! I recently got a book about badgers called The Cold Moons, though I’ve yet to read it. I also have a ton of supposedly similar books bookmarked on Goodreads, so I can return to them once I’ve finished reading the things I’m currently working on. Good luck getting a paperback copy!
By far the best ‘animal game’ I’ve played is Hatoful Boyfriend, but that…. Doesn’t exactly count, though it’s not quite as absurd as it seems (or perhaps it’s more absurd? But in a serious way). Okami looks quite fun, and I’m considering getting it for the Wii, though it’s been such a long time since I’ve used it that I’ll need to test it first to see if it still works….
Maybe they don’t count as animal games, but I’ve enjoyed playing Endless Ocean and its sequel. I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with the ocean, though – I adore the creatures in it, but it also scares the hell out of me! Not the creatures themselves, but the deep and dark or open water, as well as in the Arctic, when you can’t see the sky because of all the ice. I doubt the fear is strong enough to qualify as thalassophobia, but on bad mental days I can’t manage to play the games because they stress me out so much. I’ve yet to finish them. I recently bought Abzu, but haven’t played it yet, though I’m looking forward to it.
//aw gee another long post,,, my apologies!

@Linnaea
To tag, just use @username, making sure there's a space before and after. XD
I love kitties, would love to have a cat one day but I don't think I could deal with the occasional presents of dead things. >.<
At the moment I'm living with my boyfriend ZAZ, and we have a rat (Blazelord Sugarbutt) and two tiny hamsters (Marshall mallow and Frisk). They're all we're allowed in our flat at the moment but they're our babies so. XD
That makes sense! Honestly since I started making games I haven't played them as much. If I were to reccomend playing Okami on anything, it'd be PS2 or PS3, because motion controls can be a right oain in the rear.
I actually have a recent thread on here with a video and images of my game, it's called "what I've been working on" and it's posted under Kin-Kin. Though I've made a lot of progress since that video. XD
I've actually read all of Hunters Unlucky, and I loved it! As a tip, sign up for Abigail hilton's newsletter, when I did that I was sent the first two Hunters Unlucky books for free as they're technically parts of a really long novel.

@Gabriel
I tried that before and it didn't seem to do much, but I can try again.... I'm hoping it works this time!
EDIT: it still doesn't seem to be working? Idk what I'm doing wrong, though.
My cats are indoor cats, for a number of reasons, but yeah, even so we still do find the occasional mouse (or even lizard)! I've never found one on my bed or anything, though, so I'm thankful for that. Your pets sound very neat, and I love their names! For the most part rodents aren't my thing, but I've kind of always wanted a rat; I have enough pets for now, though. If I get permission from my school, I might be getting some sort of insect, like a cockroach (not the typical kind, but a more attractive variety), or some sort of beetle, or even a mantis.
It turns out my brother does have a PS3! So if I get Okami, I'll get it for that. I've never been too good at using the Wiimote to begin with, so I'd like to avoid it if possible, haha.
Outcast looks so neat! I love pixel games like that, and I'll definitely keep an eye on its progress, if you continue to post updates here. Have you heard of the upcoming game Cattails? If you're a fan of animals, you might enjoy it! There's a possibility that you may have seen Zevruu mention it at some point, but idk.
Thanks so much for the newsletter tip; I never would have thought of something like that on my own. I just signed up, and I'll probably start reading today!

@Linnaea Yes, their names are from Legend of Korra x) They are two brothers we adopted that were orphan boys, so it was fitting ;3; Your cats sound so adorable, they all have such great names. Lucy Pearl is so unique sounding. And ugh, cats licking weird things! Bolin licks our TV screens e_e?? And hahah, I know what you mean re: missing your animals and family. My old cat I grew up with lives with my parents now, he's probably 14 or 15 now, but every time I visit them I'm always way super excited to see my cat.. but I mean, also excited to see my parents. Buuut... also really excited to see my cat. ;_;~
I'm only on the first book of the Farseer books. There are quite a lot of books that tie into them, I guess? The order kind of confuses me but to be honest, I haven't poked around at it a lot to avoid any spoilers. We just ordered a bunch of them to fill out the rest since my boyfriend is re-reading them and needed the others, as he had borrowed them before. So @_@! I am only halfway through Assassin's Apprentice! He reads super fast though, ugh. I have trouble concentrating for a long time anymore ;;
(ok I asked him what the order was, they are all trilogies):
Farseer > Liveship Traders > Tawny Man > (Rain Wild Chronicles) > Fitz and The Fool
EDIT: Those are about Fitz. We recently found sidestories that take place during his story and are nestled between Tawny Man and Fitz and the Fool. There are four books, and it's not necessary that you read them but they do add to the lore and give more explanation to the main trilogy sets! They are call the Rain Wild Chronicles. I guess if you meet someone in one of the main trilogy sets and they feel important and you're left with, "who was that?" the Rain Wild Chronicles might be about them. That's what I was told without wanting to know too many details lol. If you do! want to read the Rain Wild Chronicles you should read them before reading the last two books of Fitz and the Fool.
I hope you enjoy Okami on the PS3! It has an HD version for the PS3, it looks really nice!!

Helllooooo! I am Aurora, and while I do love this name, it isn't my real name. I wouldn't put that online. Eeevvvveeeerrrrrr. I'm 14, from the good ol' USA. I really love wolves, which makes it odd that at the time that I made this post, I did not have a wolf character yet. I love listening to parodies, and art and writing are a couple of my passions. I am still in highschool, and boy is that depressing. I love getting stuck in fandoms (Homestuck, Undertale, Yuri on Ice, Steven Universe, Death Note, anime in general, Chowder(I miss that show so much), and a lot of others!), which sometimes takes over my life. I have been roleplaying for about 4 years now, but my skills have drasticsally improved. I mean.
My sentances were always this short. And I didn't do spaces in between sentances.Or,commas.And my grammer and speling were a lot bad.Spelcheck and grammerly didn't exist. It looked like this.Like trash.
Just writing that thing had me cringing. I look back on old sites and I just leave because, ugh, they SUCKED! (My posts I mean)
As for other things you may want to know. I am bisexual, genderfluid(prefer her/she pronouns), I really really love art. Like, if you post something on here, I will most likely obsess over it for a while. Just a heads up. So yeah! Welcome to Aurora. Population: Trash!

Welcome Aurora! Oh gosh, haha. Looking back at old sites is always embarassing, but it gets more fun to see them the older they get. My earliest posts on a site I can go back and find are from 2004 8'( and my god are they atrocious. Hahah. I hope you have fun RPing with us ;_;!!! ♥
I'm also trash, we're one big garbage pile here at Origin. Welcome home. 8')

Ahaha I never posted an introduction, might as well do it now!
I'm Muirgen, (not my real name either LMAO) but it's very much attached to my love of mythology and ocean things! I have two cats and an albino African pygmy hedgehog (albino?? surprise!).
I've been roleplaying for like...uh...seven?? eight (nine???)??? years. I started...really young lol.
I'll be starting school for Illustration next year, and I intend to make graphic novels! I'd also love to be a regular novelist in general -fantasy of course - so I'm excited for that. I try to read a lot of books and comics when I can, but there's a lot of great stuff out there that is either sitting on my shelf or that I haven't gotten or heard of yet, so I'm always up for recommendations!
I do enjoy making pixel art as well (is enjoy really the right word? It's such a masochistic practice) so I might make icons every once and a while and I'm thinking of trying my hand at bigger stuff. Fun/torture?? Who knows????
Anyway...i took a break from rping for like two years and I just got back into it after a very brief stint on another site, so i' m really excited to be here and rp my favorite things - animals!

Your name is so fun to say x) I really love the meaning also.
Wow, that sounds awesome! I want to go back to school for writing ;_;! I did school for IT/Networking but it isn't really what I want to do anymore. Illustration sounds so fun, especially graphic novels. Madison used to do some graphic novel work, but has kind of put those projects on a backburner to focus more on her regular novels she wants to do, which is why she is pretty scarce mostly; she spends a lot of her free time focusing on that.
For fantasy, have you read Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss? I'm really waiting on the third book so badly on those ;_;~~ I'm currently reading through Robin Hobb's Farseer books (there are several trilogies she has but I'm not sure if they have like.. a complete "name" ?) There's a lot of them at least, which has given me something to fill my time with while waiting on the last Kingkiller book. Like you though, I have some things on my shelf I'm waiting to read 8'( My book shop guy recommended Chronicles of the Black Company by Glen Cook, so I'm excited to read that since the owner is a really good and nice guy and actually gave me the book thinking I would like it when I was in making some purchases, and it sounds pretty cool.
What about you? Anything you're currently reading or are looking forward to reading soon?
((Do you know of any good time travel books? My boyfriend and I are always looking for good time travel books ;_;))
Dude have you read Pride of Baghdad? It's pretty short but it's a graphic novel about lions in Baghdad, the art is really nice and it's good and tragic. As for longer graphic novels I'm trying to read Saga but buying the volumes is so expensive ;; I also really want to read Vagabond but also, again, buying the volumes is such an investment. I would love to own them though. The art is so amazing looking. (Otherwise we just have a lot of Flash and Gambit comics who are our favorite from each, haha)
Welcome to Origin!! We're definitely excited to have you! 8)

Oh that's super awesome!! Good for her, damn!
I actually JUST got The Name of the Wind for Christmas! Haven't started it yet but it looks SICK. Farseer sounds really familiar and I'll definitely be looking up the other! Good to keep track of them for when you can buy them yanno?
I started reading Mistress of the Pearl a while back and got super busy, but I will DEFINITELY be starting it over because the writing was really fantastic! It's actually a few books into the series but it's a good one to start with. The world is really interesting, It's a fantasy world with ALIENS. The contrast in technology and power is there, the scifi/fantasy is a really neat combination. I prefer adult fantasy because YA is often kinda not good or it's simpler just because of the genre I guess but I gotta recommend anything by Maggie Stiefvater! She writes beautifully, The Scorpio Races is a good one to start with bc man eating water horses. (Also the Raven Cycle). They're more about the characters than the romance (which is honestly VERY sparse in the scorpio races and kinda a subplot in the raven cycle) which makes them 100x better immediately. I also have the Mists of Avalon series which I need to read because, well, it's...the mists of avalon.
I actually don't think I've read /anything/ with time travel in it? I've never actively sought out that genre but if I see anything interesting I'll definitely send it!
I'll look into Pride of Baghdad too! Man I love all the recommendations. And I agree, I have an issue? Volume? Of Saga and my friend was short a volume and I went to pick her one up and it was like... $30 (granted I was at a con, but yknow). A lot of work goes into graphic novels but damn. I don't read a lot of superhero stuff but my friend lent me some volumes of Nightwing and I really like him a lot!
I do have a few of those scholastic graphic novels...there was one that I remember being really funny (disclaimer: I read it in like 8th grade) about this demon prince and - I'll look up the title later ahaha. It was pretty great though, pretty morbid but very PG-13. I reeeeeallly need to catch up on the comic world, I have some nice anthologies too.. (I'll add the titles to this bc rip i dunno what they were called.)
But yEAH books are great and I am glad to be here!!

but this site was too pretty and tempting so here I am
If I'm here I'm supposed to be writing my thesis instead (oh well)
honestly I'm pretty boring but I do dumb things a lot and it's pretty entertaining so get ready for cbox storytime
