QUESTS/EVENTS
Torrential downpours cause localized flooding and many upset cats. Along with these frequent rain, from gentle drizzles to heavy rainfall, there seems to be a flux of Magicka drawn in particular to water sources. Occasional jet streams of warm air make narrower tunnels harder to navigate. On occasion, the rain intensifies, becoming howling storms with sleet or large hail. However, the temperatures overall are a little warmer, with snow and ice in temperate caves somewhat receding.
Seeing Kal jerk away from the flames and flail wildly seemed to stir something within Li. Or may it was being smacked in the face a couple of times as Kal lashed out blindly. Whatever it was, it was enough to knock her out of the weird trance she was in and begin to think rationally.
The first thing she noticed was the smell of ash and the heat. It was faint, but she could tell that she'd used magic against Kal. Even though she had sworn off of it. She still used it. Her ears lowered at that, and she took a couple steps back. "I...I hurt you. I burned you! What was I thinking! I swore off of using magic for good and then I did...that. And I scratched you! I injured you! I-" her voice cut off at that, and she shivered slightly. "I've become just like Imperia."
"Speech looks like this." "Thoughts looks like this."
Kal felt herself hit her mark a couple of times before stopping. When Li spoke, she opened her eye, having not realized she had closed it, and watched as the hybrid began to back away, a mess of emotions flickering across her face. Kal still felt that surge of anger within her, but it was beginning to die down. A part of it still remained, however.
"Welcome back to reality," she growled, tail lashing. "How nice of you to notice you've become just like them! Yes, you are like Imperia. I don't know why I ever trusted you. Of course you wouldn't turn out right after living for many cycles with them. Why should I have thought any different?"
She stepped closer to Li as she spoke, until the two were once more nose to nose. But she knew Li wouldn't hurt her again. "You're always going to hurt someone else. You can't escape it. It's in your blood. It's become instinct now. To just hurt. To injure. You don't know better. And frankly, I'm not sure you ever did."

"Talking looks like this!" Thinking looks like this...
Li let out a whimper as Kal spoke. When she started walking closer, she backed away until she was pressed against the wall, and the two were nose to nose once more. Her eyes were wide and her ears were down, and she wanted nothing more for Kal to stop talking. But she wouldn't use force to make that happen. It clearly didn't work last time, and it wouldn't work this time.
When Kal finished, Li gulped. She opened her mouth to speak, to say that she wouldn't hurt anyone, but the words died in her mouth. Could she even say that? She let her emotions get in her way, and now the two of them were injured. She had hurt Kal. She hadn't meant to - no. She had meant to, and she did. She stared for a moment longer, struggling to come up with something to say, before sighing.
She looked to her right and, seeing that it was clear, quickly darted that way. She had to get away from Kal. Away from this place. Where she would go, she didn't know. She just knew she had to get out.

"Speech looks like this." "Thoughts looks like this."
Kal continued to glare at Li, almost daring her to speak. She watched as the hybrid's mouth opened, only to close a little later. It opened again, and the process continued for a moment before Li sighed. She looked to the side, and before Kal could blink, bounded away and out of sight, presumably ducking into the nearest exit. Kal watched the place she was before she disappeared before turning the other way.
She hoped she would never see Li again. Or Imperia. Or anyone, for that matter. Clearly, she couldn't trust anyone. She had thought Li was a friend, but the burns on her face reminded her that anyone could turn on her without warning. She resolved to never trust anyone. To never show weakness. She had to look tough. So no one would take advantage of her. So no one would attack her first.
She walked away, and went into the nearest tunnel that wasn't where Li had gone. For now, she wanted to be alone. And she would be for as long as she could.
