He'd barely accomplished anything, and just when he was readying a second volley of blows, something swept down and hoisted him in to the air. Mori squawked and kicked, writhed and protested, but he couldn't stop Eythan from carrying him away from the living shard of glass; when he was deposited on the ground again, he warbled and spun as if to assault his uncle next, but was faced with a strange four-legged thing he'd never seen before. She spoke sweetly, gave him a nudge, and mentioned something about home - all of which Morigarra wished he could ignore. But home... home felt really good right now.

Kallista watched as one of the hybrids scooped up the small bird, then turned back to the spider only to get hit with a stray blast of radiation. She stumbled, suddenly feeling sick. What happened? Was this someone's spell? They must have been attacking the spider, and she just had to be in the way of the blast. Great. Just what she needed right now.

She was just thinking about what to do next when someone - the same hybrid who had taken the young gembound - called out a suggestion. She turned to the spider, noting that it was now on its rear and flailing its front legs. She only had the one spell that might do something, and she didn't know if it would be any help with this. But it was worth a shot, surely.

She aimed for one of the legs on the ground. It would be much easier than going after one of the ones moving. She prepared to cast her spell again, putting her paws on the leg and attempting to bring it out.

The spider keeled back and its legs flailed in the air for a moment. All around him was chaos but the spider's half-flip was just what he'd been waiting for. Just as well to break the legs, why not just flip the thing onto its back entirely to do so? He swerved ahead of it and spun to face it, wings flaring wide as he summoned his magic...

...but as he stiffened his wings to snap them forward, Eythan's voice and body appeared in the firing line and he pulled out of his attack at the last second, sending the shockwave at the ground instead as he flipped himself forward and around again from the effort. The white royal quickly corrected his flight and returned to the air above the spider again, circling. He swept past Eythan in his fist round.

"S'too strong for wind to break! We need a stone-pusher!" He called to his brother, and to anyone close enough to hear him.

With no response from Cure, she figured her twin either out of range or cut off by the sheer overbearing of magicka around her in that moment. Between dodging spells from other defending gembound and trying to steer clear of any stray spider limbs, she'd circling herself around and behind Carni as the smaller hybrid attempted an atttack, only to bail out of it last second.

It was flailing, at an angle that wasn't natural for the thing and she caught on to what Carni had been trying to do. Wind attacks too risky? Fine.

She'd pull a Xerxes.

With a screeching battlecry, she shot down from her place in the air and dive-bombed the spider head-on, aiming for its highest point in hopes of tipping its balance backwards...

...and with a resounding CLANG her skull and horns rammed into solid crystal and her entire body seemed to pile in over the impact zone. With a dizzy flurry of her wings, she caught herself before falling, but oh sweet mercy did her skull and stone ring like a bell. Holy shit how the fuck does he do that!? She cast a dizzy glance to Xerxes as she attempted a flighty retreat to a safer distance once more whilst not bothering to check and see if her attack had done anything.

In the shadows Cure had stalked. Remaining mostly to himself when he was not roaming about with his twin. Remedy was once again off doing something or another which left Cure to roam about Eridanus on her own. He had went searching through Eridanus, wondering why(and how) the place had been burnt. Of course, that wasn't his real interest. What he was after was a canine. One he held in a special place in his heart. The one who had initially saved him from what would have been his death. Arkrael. She was here. He knew she was. Her scent lingered in most areas he found himself searching in, but to no avail could he ever find a fresh trail. Something that would lead him to the canine. Once again his search had come up empty and the hybrid had finally decided to give up for the day. It was in this moment that a sensation crossed over him. His head lifted, rounded ears twitching as the familiar sensation of his bonded link to his twin seemed to buzz into life.

Remedy's voice spilled into her thoughts, mentioned someone whom he clearly should know. Though, at the mention of someone headbutting rocks again a strange fluttering began in his chest. His heart thudding for a brief moment as he felt himself pivot around and stare towards the exit of Eridanus that would lead him to where his twin was. Hesitation gripped at Cure as he seemed to struggle internally with himself. Just as he was about to cast it all from himself and turn away Remedy's voice rose once again in his thoughts and he tensed at the image of what appeared to be a spider was quick to take his entire attention. His nose wrinkled up, baring sharp fangs as he swung back around towards the tunnel leading to Polaris once again as a growling soon vibrated in his chest.

Instantly his paws pushed into the ground, sprinting across the distance in a hurried rush to get to his twin. There was danger. His twin was in danger. As were others and she had called to him for help. It felt like an eternity before he finally found himself bursting through the entrance into Polaris and finally his sapphire eyes landed on all the other gembounds that were facing off with a giant spider. Just as his spotted his twin he grunted heavily when her head met the spider's crystal form and he was nearly knocked off his paws from the shere sensation that had seeped into him from their connection. With ears ringing and a snarling growl growing louder in his chest the feline waited for nothing. He charged right for the beast and would take the same stance as Remedy did. He would attempt head butting into the creature in hopes of helping do whatever it was Remedy had been trying to do.

Red Wolf Norvilion

The blue... birds? Yeah no that's not what they... wait there should be only one and… no never mind that. The chorus of disjointed words were right. They had to keep. They had to keep attacking!

The wolf was in a bad state. His upper body was hurting from his attack, his entire essence was flooded with something. Too much of something. It hurt. Did it hurt? No that was something else that hurt, something from the flappy... shadow? What was that thing what had it done why could he. How could he. So hard to form any coherent thought. So hard to keep standing up straight. So hard to stay...

No! He couldn't let himself drop! The cave, his friends, the lives too young were all counting on him. He had to stay up, had to make the world stop rotating to the side. No lights... stay on. Stay on lights... there was more to do. Wasn't there anything he could do to.. keep them on?

As the wolf passed out a red light began to shine from the stone in his right eye...

Where... where was he? How long had that damnanble body snatcher been in control? Wherever he was this body was in pain.

The wolf, the real one that had been born with this body in the first place, tried to move a limb, finding it as paralyzed as it had always been any time he tried to move. He tried to shift an eye to see the situation but as usual even that was blocked from his control.

From what he could see, given the angle the invasive personality had fallen at, he was physically different. Very different. How long had he been suppressed? He wasn't a pup anymore. The last he knew the soft pitiful fool was going all about mourning the loss of some stupid lunchmeat named Gracia and his body had been little more than that of a child itself. He looked strong now, huge in fact! If only he hadn't been flung to the background, how easily he might have become king of this land by now if he had been there to actually get stuff done!

Echoes of memories slowly filtered through the tenuous barrier that was his grasp on his own body. Most immediately there was a spider that wanted to destroy their world.

It couldn't do that! Had he the ability to snarl or even raise a lip he would have growled with such ferocity it would have echoed across the room. This was his land! His world! All these creatures flooding the scene were his playthings to manipulate and command!

He had magic though, oh did he ever have access to magic. But what would gazing into the past do for him? Another memory popped up, and a useful one too! What a lucky break the idiot had happened upon, running into a teacher! Oh hey, that teacher was here. Time to make it proud of its happy-go-lucky little peaceful student.

Summoning his natural power the wolf started to distribute raw energy throughout his body, which began working to strip away the radiation and use up the excess magic that was coursing through him. Immediately he started feeling better. At least now he wouldn't be lying here in pain.

A paw twitched.

The wolf's eyes widened in shock, and even further as he realized his range of vision was changing from control over his eyes. Legs began to slowly move in an effort to roll over that actually worked!

"Heh." he began to chuckle. The first sound he'd ever been able to make with his own vocal cords. Laughter came pouring out from the wolf as for the moment he relished in finally, after all this time having his body back!

He successfully managed to sweep some of the legs out from under the spider and convince Remedy to do the same. Coming out of his ramming headbutt, he saw Remedy come out of here's a little frazzled and dizzy. He couldn't help but smile a bit, but there was no time for that now. Others continued to assault the spider the best they could now that it was stuck on it's behind. What made this thing want to get to the Spire so bad anyway? Xerxes did kind of wonder what made them all want to attack it in the first place, it wasn't like it was attacking them back anyway. He did have orders though, and he had to follow them.

He was lining up to attack again, this time more on the spiders side so he could hopefully roll the spider onto it's side or back for better attacking, but then he saw a familiar figure come in out of the corner of his eye when he was in mid-launch. A blur of black and blue headbutted the spider similarly to he and Remedy had and he got distracted watching them, remembering everything exactly when he shouldn't, causing him to trip and eat some dirt. Great.

So far so good as Albeon watches the spider fall on its ass, he takes a deep breath of relief, pretty close call there for the corvid. Now that they have managed to stall it from its charge Albeon can allow himself to plan more rationally as he realises his use of Pulsar with other Gembounds around was a dangerous move, not the smartest idea in fact even if it somewhat did the trick to stop the spider in its tracks.

No need to go to extremes now Albeon. Just chill out and think better, your Magick will be more concentrated if so.

Watching on the others, lots of them tried to ram their Gems shaped similar to his on the spider. Pretty risky there, to be honest, he's done it when he was a chick to a crystal, but he got drained quickly and used his Magick as a boost. He watched fellow flyers use their spells on it to not much avail, trying his best not to accidentally bump into them with his flying around, hoping to find a spot in the air where he can just flap his wings without actually moving around constantly.

He decides soon to retake the initiative now, letting the others get their attacks in first and be safely out the way while he decides what to do now. One thing he noticed with the spider is how it's flailing its front legs which are the only reason why it isn't on its back like a turtle by now.

Having an idea, he refuses to take his golden beady eyes off the front legs as Albeon honed a dose of his Magick, intending to use Arcane this time. This time since Albeon isn't using an excessive use of Magick, only his Gem was brim with the magical violet glow whenever he uses a Spell. With that the burst of Magick is rising, he stares right at the front legs hoping for this Spell will work on some of those gargantuan legs if possible.

Albeon kept on trying to keep his eyes on the legs, however with how wary he was being in not using an excessive amount of Magick to avoid potentially harming others again the grip on his Spell was a little slack. And so, it took some time, but eventually, it seems the Magick begun to thicken the air around where one or maybe two of the spider's front legs were. He thinks anyway as it looks like that one or more appeared to have gone to an almost complete still which is how he wanted his Spell to work. It could also be possible that one front leg has just stopped of its volition instead of his Spell not sure why it would intentionally stop flailing them when its desperately trying to avoid falling entirely. Although he was hoping to drag the limbs too with it so the whole body would go down with it. This'll have to do for now...

we burn the brightest
in the dark

This was horrible, just horrible.

The ram stood on a ledge over looking the colossal battle that had unfolded before his very eyes. This.. this stuff only happened in legends, and Aries found himself standing on the edge of one. Every Gembound knew the Spire was key to all magick, and the crystalline arachnid looked like it wanted to destroy it. For cycles, he dreamed of nothing more than too test his metal against something monsterous, but now that the moment had arrived, all he could think about was how he helpless he felt staring down the terrible maw a mad gembound, and was saved by the bear, Leon.

He had to help.

Aries hurled himself down the rocky incline. His sturdy legs and natural surefootedness made the decent look uncanny. Upon approaching the ground he flung himself of the stones and raced towards the battleground and skidded to a stop before the flailing stone titan. His ear flicked when heard someone call out for a stone-pusher. A smirk crossed his chick. He could do that. Suddenly, he witnessed a horned lion take a face plant and Aries cringed. He was glad that wasn't him.

Heat rose up in his chest and he harnessed his zeal. Aries pawed at the ground vigorously, kicking up dust as smoke billowed from his nose. Then with avidity, he reared up and charged towards the stone spider, ready to bring on the pain.

Unfortunately, in his overzealous charge, he did not notice the obstacle in the way of his warpath, the lion. Aries tripped over the face planted Gembound and the charging ram yelped in surprise as his body flipped in the air. Pain shot threw his gem as he landed hard on his head. Aries groaned in agony as his body flopped pathetically to the side.

Well, this was horrible, just horrible

It felt like there was nothing it could do! These creatures didn't let up. Just as it was regaining its balance and composure, it felt one of its legs shatter slightly. Some other creature was brave enough to blatantly absorb pure magicka right out of its heart, and an unnatural, sharp sound—a mix between nails on a chalk board and a shrill scream—let loose from within its body. What had it done to them! As it continued to try and pull itself forward and back onto its longest legs, it felt another static shock in its back leg—and then a powerful blow to its chest sent it teetering, a second following shortly after. The crystal spider couldn't even find its strong, forward-most flailing legs anymore to help it, instead feeling them pulled back against its will.

And slowly, its world turned upside down. It crashed onto its back and curled all of its legs inward, rumbling with a high-pitched vibration. It was not like them. It was not able to communicate. It did not even have a brain; it was only magic, a thing, a job. It had spent thousands of years doing its job, and they were trying to ruin it! The crystal being began vibrating at a higher frequency, a self-defense mechanism triggered: without any further warning, a wave of magicka pulsed from the spider's body, pushing all of the creatures away a great distance. With the Gembounds' senses and stones suddenly flooded with negative energy, the Magicka Spider kicked itself back over and continued on its way toward the Spire.
