It was done. What had taken minutes felt like hours, but there was faint relief that washed over Kera's shoulders as beautiful green-blue caps sprouted from the ground around her, providing a gentle but steady blue glow.
It was faint, but it was light. Kera couldn't argue against it, nor could she complain. She could see the ground a little better from where she was, even if it wasn't much. Even if she couldn't see what was ahead in the inky-black darkness. It didn't matter. Kera was safe, and this was her territory.
She thought of the goose, briefly, and grimaced. She shifted on the ground and grimaced more as pain shot through her leg. She knew she wasn't going anywhere-- not yet. She'd have to sleep, lightly, and quickly.
She could worry about the goose later.
Later. Later. She shut her eyes, relishing in the fact that she could still see the faint blue glow through her eyelids. That was okay. Everything would be okay. Everything was fine and she wasn't going to be attacked anymore. She wasn't going to lose anymore.
Slowly, but surely, Kera fell asleep.
