Renasci had been wandering, walking from cave to cave after meeting a new acquaintance here or there. One could talk, the rest Lessers and birds.

In any case, this left them bored and irritated. They could feel the energy of the room sinking into their feathers, and their magic flickering in their chest as they linger more and more on some idea's they've had for a few months. They decide this is a good place as any- shining, a river for water in case they get thirsty, hopefully some fish for food, and sheer walls for bouncing light and themselves off as they practice.

Tucking their assorted belonging away, they take a deep breath and take to the air, launching with a jump and a shove of their wings before inhaling and sending their magic out in a torrent of heat and light- tinged blue as they fuel the fire with their magic.

Sakhira had been wandering around the caves, though less in search of more rocks- she already had enough that she still needed to find families for, and more for company. It was not a good thing to spend more time in the past than in the present. She knew that all too well, memories gained from her magic still engrained within her mind. Polaris tended to be a good spot for finding other gembounds, having a stronger magical atmosphere. The sphynx was full grown now. It was a strange feeling really, and she could even fly. It was mostly useful for traveling as opposed to other things. Though she had to admit, it did make scaling some terrain much easier. Such as in Monoceros.

Casting out her magic, she detected the presence of some other gembound in this cave. Oh, and there they were! Some strange bird looking thing that wasn't really a bird. Sort of like her! Bird but... not quite. Though Sakhira thought she was probably more lion than bird. It was hard to tell. "Hello! What are you doing?"

Samael had gone through his larval stage and emerged as a fairy, looking somewhat like his first friend. That is, if his first friend was six inches tall. Though he often stayed around the libraries these days, investigating books and their contents, he had found himself exploring today.

Sometimes one simply needed to see the world instead of only experiencing it through books. He tried to see if there were any large beings around, trying to sense the heartbeats around him in Polaris.

It barely worked, the sound of life faint but present in his ears. He drifted towards the larger heartbeats with curiosity, eventually spotting the two beings. "Are you a fairy?" The little fairy asked the winged humanoid being with curiosity, for they had wings but theirs were feathered.

They others would probably come across Renasci gagging a bit- coughing up some flaming phlegm and thumping their chest from higher in the air, they stop when first Sakhira and then Samael approach, and ask questions.

The harpy is remaining mid-air, massive wingspan moving in a figure eight as they struggle to hover and analyze the newcomers.

Cat-but-bird... and tiny... something. Fairy it says?

"Wh- who are you? I am Renasci, I need no label, I'm the only one like m-me!" They declare. They seem nervous, and they're eyeing the other two with arms angled and talon-tipped hands tensed.

To make themselves feel better, they fluff up the feathers across their brow, their crest and along their arms and spine.

I dunno if this actually makes them more intimidating or just more huggable-looking, but that's what they do.

"My magic is... it changes, and adds on to itself if I push it. As fire should. What can you do?"

She looked at the newcomer from the corner of her eye, what seemed to be a fairy. Sakhira had never seen any gembound that small before. It was certainly interesting. Now that she thought about it, the two gembounds were quite similar except one was smaller and not feathered.

"Sakhira." the sphynx nods. Fire magic was not something she had seen before, so she looked at Renasci with curiosity. "Fire? Can you demonstrate?" She pulls on her own magic, cracking apart some pebbles on the ground, though some didn't break open all the way. This was to demonstrate that she had the magic of the earth.

Then she turns her attention to Samael, to see what he could do.

"My apologies for my lack of introduction, my name is Samael. Greetings," Samael politely says. "It is merely that I have seen few akin to me. Though you have feathers, you too have wings, and so I was curious and I let that overcome me."

As Sakhira glances towards Samael, he gives a wry smile. "I am afraid my magic is not as visible as either of yours. My magic is connected to life, in understanding it, so far as I can tell. I can sense heartbeats, and I can connect with the emotions of another living being. I have not yet discovered what more I may do," The fairy tells the two.

Still he attempts his magic regardless, deciding to try and focus on the emotions of Sakhira. It is faint, but present, the feelings she has.

The cat-but-bird, Sakhira... can move earth, and the fairy... Samael. can see inside others with theirs. Thats interesting.

Flattening their feathers, they think for a moment. The broken pebbles are neat, but...

"Have... have you tried bigger stuff, Sakhira? Like palm stones? Letting their wings go slack and trail upwards, the harpy falls and lands with an audible and rough THUD a number of paces away from the pair on the riverbank. "I can take stones and use them to break each other, maybe that might help you b-break them?" They clear their throat, shaking themselves out. Pupils drawn to slits, they're trying very carefully to smush their anxiety over new people down behind their curiosity and competitive streak.

Besides.

They were asked to demonstrate.

Rolling their shoulders, they cough. "Just... make sure you're not in front of me when I use mine. Fire burns, no matter what I intend." With that, they take a long, measured inhale of the air, hold it for a moment, and project the air in a stream before them- and they can feel the heat build in their lungs, curl up their throat and funnel from their mouth, the intensity of it making the air waver and twist like the reflections of water in front of the small group, the heat intense but fading quickly as Renasci's breath ends.

Samael was an interesting creature. He did not seem to have a very visible form of magic. Similar to arcane? Though that was a great deal more physical than the things he mentioned he could do. If the fairy were to reach out to feel her emotions, he would sense curiosity. "Connection with life is a very impressive form of magic."

Larger stones? "No, I have not tried." she replied in a thoughtful tone. Sakhira hadn't really tested the limits of her magic in that sense, usually only sticking to findding lost gemstones and gazing at memories. Shattering rocks wasn't as useful. "Good suggestion, but I can not." her paws were not useful for grasping things, as she had no thumbs, and her beak really wasn't all that good at hitting two rocks together. It would hurt. This was why she tended to rely on her magic more often than not. The sphynx tried again to break the rocks, only to get the same result as last time. The smaller ones were able to break apart, while the larger ones remained mostly intact. This was probably her worst spell. Most underused and in need of refinement.

She stepped out of the range of the spell as Renasci shows his ability, noting that it was really quite impressive. It seemed like it could be useful for some things. Heating up certain things perhaps? "That is amazing! What do you use it for?"

The genuine curiosity which Sakhira feels is akin to his own curiosity, and so the disconnect as the connection drops is limited. "Thank you, I know it may not be very visually impressive, but I cannot help but find it awe-inspiring nonetheless."

He keeps his magic to his self for now, pondering what else he might be able to do with his magic. Yet, he does not know which direction to reach to connect further with his magic, as much as he wants to.

Instead, he refocuses on Renasci's magic display, nodding in agreement with Sakhira. "That is impressive indeed. I too am curious at how you use it."

Wondering faintly, What can Samael actually do- though seeing inside someone is. Neat I suppose. "Sometimes subtle is more useful," They shrug, and go to stick their hands into a nearby hollow behind a stone. They pull out what seems to be a bundle of knots and rope, with some sticks and stones, and what looks like a splintered piece of their gemstone in it, and, after a few moments, they withdraw a crude hand axe.

"I split this rock with another rock," as they gesture with it at the shattered pebbles at Sakhira's paws. It's been... a while since they've seen another cat, and the chasm of their cycles of isolation yawns before them, anxiety wondering if they actually remember the dexterity of cats or if it's just a figment of their- NOPE! A visible shake of their head, and a flick of ears like trying to drive off a fly. "Maybe this as an example? Of how to focus I mean. You'd smash your claws less using this if you tried."

Suddenly, as if struck by an idea, they jog back to the bundle and pull out a leaf, coughing a few times and spitting into the center of it. "The heat in my breath I use to burn food to make it safe, can melt metal if I focus, I heat stones for sleeping and water for cleaning, and dry leaves like this one." They wave the bundle.

"This fire magic is a bit more..." They mime an explosion with their hand, feathers flaring for emphasis. "Direct flame is hard. Wanna see this one?" And they wiggle the bundle again.
