Eve didn't always like Canis, and not just for the horror story that was flying through tunnel K. Something about a dry room with a ceiling almost touching the floor was unsettling for the crow; though heaven knows why. Perhaps it was the bones strewn around the room in seemingly random places or perhaps it was the strange painting that she sworn weren't here before - all of them in scarlet paint and all of them cryptic. She eyed up one, seemingly the shape of a horse or some kind of doe when she arrived in Canis.

But then something else caught her eye - a rib cage. Not that big, but definitely bigger than her. Upon remembering her purpose - to find a treasure for Aquarian and bring it back (along with some seeds for Tal'at but that had already ended badly) she hobbled over to the rib cage and gently nudged it with her beak.

It was clean and sturdy, perhaps good for turning into magic, but admittedly hard to carry. In fact the crow couldn't even begin to imagine how she'd ever manage to haul it back to Canis, even after she turned it into glowing magic. With a croaking sigh the crow looked around at the array of bones.

Something had landed outside Mordecai and Henry's self proclaimed house. Landed - as if it were thrown here and it simply came here by chance, but it was more than that. This thing couldn't have been thrown. Mordecai lifted his head somewhat, curled up in the vertebrae of the rib cage. The thing that had appeared outside hadn't noticed either of the heads yet, or the deformity.

Slowly, Mordecai nudged his brother awake and with a slight start from the other head Mordecai noticed from the corner of his eye that he'd been successful in awaking his brother, meanwhile keeping an eye on the creature that was lurking outside their rib cage.
"..What is it?" Heinrich said in a low murmur.
"I don't know," Mordecai replied, assuming his brother meant the creature outside.
"Is it friendly?"
"I don't know."

Mordecai felt the slight pull of his brother's neck as he turned back around to go back to sleep, to which Mordecai turned and nudged his brother awake again. "This could be a threat," he hissed quietly. He didn't want to scare his brother but if that was what it was going to take to get him to realise the possible dangers then so be it.

Henry of course, was already too scared to go on. Wide eyed and trembling he noticed the dark figure looming around inches from he and his brother's faces and he tried hard not to scream and cry. There was nothing more that he wanted, at this time, than the comfort of his brother.
"M-morty?"
"Hush," hissed the left head.

Deciding that it was better that his brother remain in control of the situation, Henry made sure that his snooty-dooty McSnoodle Doodle was firmly shut, but while he was concentrating on being quiet his mind drifted off and he remembered that he had yet to tell Mordecai about his new amazing and exciting word to use instead of 'snout.'

"Morty!" squeaked the right head happily.
"Hush!" came the startled reply.

Oh right. He had to be quiet or they'd get killed' luckily though, the Thing Looming Outside didn't seem to hear him, or perhaps it was just pretending not to. Henry decided to try focus on being quiet again, this time with greater success as the little head half-closed his eyes, still wholly silent as he slowly began to drift back into a sleep.

He was awoken by his brother approximately three seconds later, although he was spared his brother's wrath by the fact they both had to be quiet.

The crow wasn't that dumb, however. She had heard the tiny hissing voices coming from inside the rib cage and she proceeded to simply stick her head in between the ribs to look inside, blinking as she saw two small snake-heads. Although she had spotted them, she was still not aware that the heads were attached to one body.

"... Hey there," the crow squawked, quizzically. To her, these tiny snakes hardly looked any different to Aquarian. "What are you uh.. doing?"
"Sleeping," scowled the left head. The crow only nodded in reply as she stuck her head back out of the rib cage - wholly prepared to leave and forget entirely of the situation and continue to keep on looking for a bone to gift to Dragon's father, when a second voice erupted from the rib cage. "Friend!"

Eve glanced back at the pile of bones, only half-convinced that it was the other head that spoke. They sounded vastly different from each other, after all - one high-pitched and restless and the other quiet and dreary - tired-sounding. She noticed the two heads appearing out from the rib bones and the crow seemed to think for a moment.

"I'm Eve," she said, and she settled down to listen to the two snakes once more.

Mordecai scowled as his brother took over control of their body and slithered forward, out of the safety of the bones and into the open to greet the enemy and intruder he had been close to terrified of not three seconds ago. Although Heinrich was quicker to warm up to the creature with inky black and rather soft-looking scales, Mordecai was more, perhaps understandably, hesitant.

But, instead of being eaten, the snakes were greeted. Perhaps this creature who named itself Eve had seen past the deformity that was Mordecai and Henry - or perhaps she hadn't even seen it at all. Mordecai hesitated once more before he lifted his head off the ground. "My name is Mordecai," he hissed quietly (a great contrast to what the crow had managed to scream out). "And this is Heinrich."

The left head's head gestured towards the other head, which was vibrating from the happiness of meeting a potential new friend. The left head only stared for a moment longer before he shook his head, peering back at the creature in a relative silence, waiting for Henry to say something - anything, to prove that he was more than capable of saying more than one word.

And for a moment, it seemed as though Henry was incapable of saying.. well, anything. The excitement had taken him over completely, so much so that even the end of his tail rather involuntarily began to shake, too. When he noticed the crow tilting it's head ever so slightly, did he actually speak up. "I'm Henry!"
"You have two different names?" the black creature asked.
There was a pause. "I'm Henry!" the right head repeated, voice unwavering. Henry seemed to take no offense, rounded eyes huge. "What are you doing here? Why are you here? Are you here to make friends?"
"What are you?" Mordecai (rudely) interrupted Henry's barrage of questions.

Henry saw the creature blink and then... shake, very fast. It's soft looking scales shifted somewhat on it's body as it did so, as if it were readjusting them. "I'm here for bones," Eve said.

This made Henry even more excited - if that were even possible. He looked around frantically for the perfect bone to give to his new friend, and quickly slithered off the second he saw it, dragging Mordecai along with some mild verbal abuse which Henry was quick to ignore. The two-headed snake slithered off into a different bone pile.

Eve paused. As the snake came out into the open she noticed that it wasn't just two snakes - it was two snake heads conjoined onto one body. This hadn't been the strangest thing she'd seen - Tal'at had an entire orb on his face and there was a dog with three head sleeping on the way in here. What did seem more fascinating was that only one - the one who called itself Henry or Heinrich, was moving and the other, Mordecai, was just letting him move around.

The crow decided to follow them - surely it'd be an interesting story to tell when she gets back to Cetus. The small, two-headed Aquarian moved a whole lot slower than she initially thought, but eventually they managed to reach a femur bone. The right head, Henry or Heinrich, spoke first. "A bone for friend!"

Eve seemed to think for a moment as she approached the bone and placed her foot on it, blue-white gem gleaming a brilliant silver. Henry's eyes widened in child-like awe while Mordecai watched with only a mild interest. Both of the heads' interest seemed to grow as the bone began to glow lightly, a warm and comforting light emitting from it.

The crow assumed that this had been the first time they witnessed magic and with a good ol' ounce of arrogance, her chest puffed up with pride. "You can touch it," she said. "But I gotta take it to somebody."

Mordecai had to restrain his brother from rather immediately touching the glowing bone laid out before the snake; doing so by stretching his neck out to nudge his brother's head from touching the bone. Mordecai didn't know what it was - and therefore he would deem it unsafe, but the words of the black creature came.

"It's safe. You don't need to be so worried about it," her voice came like nails on chalkboard, high-pitched and every single word shrieked. It occurred to Mordecai that, perhaps, it was an unintentional thing and perhaps an inherited thing, such as the hissing edge to Mordecai's words; but the look that crossed the bird's face when she saw his face screw up in pain from his ears, that it was wholly intentional.

Pulling away from his brother, the left head looked over the bone, glowing with an orange-yellow, warm light. He himself did not touch it, rather he looked over Heinrich as the head rested his chin on the femur contentedly like a concerned parent before the snake lifted it's head up towards the crow. "I don't suppose you give things like these away for free, do you?"

The crow only tilted her head one way, and then the other. "I don't know what you mean."
"Nevermind," Mordecai almost snappped as his attention turned back to Heinrich.

Henry enjoyed the sensation of the magic under his chin, tongue lolling in and out contentedly. He wished he could remain here with the light forever - but of course that would be impossible. The Eve-creature had already said she had to give it to someone else. The right head looked up at the strange-looking bird for a moment.

"Can I have one?"
The crow looked as if she was accustomed to the question - but it was clear it didn't bother her. In fact Henry could swear that he saw her chest puff up even more. "Of course you can," the crow squawked, and off she went, rummaging through the bones and picking through piles and piles of them, both old and new, seemingly looking for a good one.

While the crow was looking, Henry looked towards his brother. Mordecai was still being quiet, watching over Henry with the mild calmness you might except from a teacher rather than a family remember - in fact it caused Henry to begin shaking happily again. He was happy that his brother was there to look out for him and make sure nothing would ever happen to him and he'd make sure that nothing ever happened to Mordecai, either. He loved his brother, after all.

Eve loved to spread gifts if she was able to and she supposed that keeping a snake with two heads on some sort of friends list would come in handy. She spent a while searching for a bone perhaps small enough that the snakes could lift, and she eventually found something that seemed close to perfect - a finger bone.

The crow squawked out some joy as she found it; surely at least the right head would love it. As she moved to take it in her talon she watched and concentrated hard on her foot as the silver-blue gem on her foot once more began to shimmer and glow bright silver and for a moment, she thought her foot was still glowing.

But as it happened, the finger bone was glowing a brilliant silver, brighter and shinier than her own gem. For a moment, the crow couldn't even bear to tear her eyes away - but she had to do what she had to do. Almost begrudgingly, she hobbled back to where the two-headed snake was waiting; exactly where she left them. She paused and reluctantly handed over the glowing finger bone, the right head rather immediately taking to it, moving to take it into his maw.
