He watched Basil run and frowned. Huh. Apparently he had something else to do. Something really urgent.

The spell was starting to really hurt by now, so he stopped it, since his only audience left to do...something else. His eyes and his mouth and his skin stung and felt raw, and he really felt like he needed another nap. Thankfully he didn't use it for very long - he didn't want to think about the consequences of a long-term use of that spell.

But hey, he tried out something new and it was as easy as breathing! He felt elated and proud of himself.

Renewing his determination, he resolved that he needed to keep looking for his ghost. He knew what to look for now, a black-coated young demon and his pure white charge. Shouldn't be too hard! In this open jungle, a white coat would stand out like a sore paw, and any noise that the two might make would definitely help.

He made his way around, searching high and low, keeping his eyes and ears open. He had no idea what sort of size reference he should keep in mind - perhaps they were both small, like Basil. Easily hid. That was no matter, with his excellent rabbit hunting skills, he would find them in no time!

As he walked and searched and followed his nose for anything resembling animal life, hoping to find anything related to what he was looking for. The aisling's laughter was still there, teasing him, only adding to the flame of his resolve.

He found a scent. Two smells, always together, of other gems. He didn't know whether or not they were two lesser gems or what he was looking for, but he followed it nonetheless. It carried him all over the main part of the room till it disappeared, and he huffed. Maybe he needed to explore deeper into the room to pick it up again?

He wandered up and down the well-traveled path and off of it. He walked to the edge of the trench, just keeping himself from falling in. The gigantic ferns that grew out of it obscured the drop from view, but with his nose to the ground, he caught himself in time.

"Come on," he murmered, "Give me a sign, something."

But the more he walked, the less he saw, and he caught no trace of the scent. Maybe it was even further in the room? He might as well explore as much as he could before he left. He was on a mission! A mission to rescue the ghost from the demon! And as the ghost's knight, he knew a knight never quit.

Besides, he wouldn't forgive himself if he didn't completely cover as much as he could and then missed something important here.

He walked to the great big twin lakes at the far end of the forest, relying less and less on his nose, more so just going through to enjoy and explore. This was actually pretty nice! He didn't encounter much, just a few dashing lesser gems here and there. But it felt a lot nicer in here than it did in the tunnel or Pisces. Not so horribly damp. Just green, and full of life. He wouldn't mind staying here for a while.

When he looked into the pools...they didn't show his reflection. He frowned. He felt as if they should from glancing at all the puddles in the tunnel, and when he washed himself clean of all that blood earlier, but whether they did or not had little consequence to him. Maybe some pools of water just were exceptions to the rule! He shrugged and continued on, trying to pick up the scent again.

After a few hours of through exploration of the room, he just decided that the ghost just wasn't in this room. With a heavy sigh, he turned around, and made his way all the way back to the tunnel, around, and charged straight into the misty mud-smelling room. Maybe she was in there. It helped that, as he exited the room, he caught that same smell again. That...he probably should've caught onto that, but he kind of enjoyed going through this green room. It was fun, if completely uneventful, after Basil left.
