QUESTS/EVENTS
Torrential downpours cause localized flooding and many upset cats. Along with these frequent rain, from gentle drizzles to heavy rainfall, there seems to be a flux of Magicka drawn in particular to water sources. Occasional jet streams of warm air make narrower tunnels harder to navigate. On occasion, the rain intensifies, becoming howling storms with sleet or large hail. However, the temperatures overall are a little warmer, with snow and ice in temperate caves somewhat receding.

The Spire was a monolith among ants. Bright blue crystals reaching towards the ceiling, their power pulsing with energy so thickly that the strength was tangible. Still awakened, the tower crackled and snapped like a thundercloud, it's blue glow swallowing any other color that might approach, painting the usually deep brown fisher a dark blue.
Pain throbbed in Fisher's paw, but it seemed like the mustelid had forgotten all about his injury as he hobbled to the glowing, crackling Spire like a cold man would approach a roaring fire. His eyes were wide, the copper rings around his pupils appearing a strange sea green in the fierce light. His tail quivered as he approached, casting a glance back at the lioness who had nearly killed and then saved him. In his glistening, sharp white teeth was a stone that Makyna had gifted him, a present he would refuse to leave behind for many cycles.
As the fisher's eyes returned to the Spire, close enough that his fur stood on end from the energy, the lucky rock was set down between his paws. "Ready?" He barked, voice sounding so small under the roar of energy above his head. Raising his chin, the tiny mammal set a glare at the bright blue light. "I'm here to show you I'm not scared, Blue Thing! You gave me this power, and I've mastered it! Now I give back, so you see, we are equal! I climbed you, I am Fisher! Tell your waters and everything else to stop attacking me!" His fur fluffed and ruffled, messed around by the air disturbances from the powerful waves of force from the Spire.
Unafraid, but maybe a bit nervous, the baby fisher closed his eyes tightly, digging his retractable claws into the earth, and with a flash of light on his golden striped gem, he pushed his magick on to the Spire. It was a weak spell, and he had only cast it once before, but Fisher was not a beast of patience. He forced his electrical energies into the Spire, charging it with his own power as if a tower of crystals filled to the brim with magick needed more firepower.
Fisher was brave, at least..
((oh gosh the roll was supposed to be the SPELL charge but i messed up. yells. oh well. it doesn't really matter, ill have him do another spell down there so that's fine. but yeah he was supposed to be doing the Charge spell my bad))
ROLL 17
Fisher attempts Other ( Charging the Spire! GRR!! )
The dog came bumbling along much like a little lost bee, chubby and fluffy and zig-zagging all over the place. Her paws hurt from all the wandering and yet, Deus appeared unaffected. Every so often she would lurch to a stop and stare down at her toes as if perplexed, wiggle them a little (because having toes at all is kind of fantastic), and be on her merry way. By the time she reached Polaris, many days had passed. So many that she had forgotten all about the Monoceros and her own hatching; every moment spent looking at things was a brand new experience to the child, who saw wonder in every particle. It helped that she couldn't remember seeing anything for the first time - like, ever - so when she spotted the Spire and its many glowing crystals, an audible gasp broke free from her overgrown face.
"Oh WOW!" The girl bellowed (likely not for the first time), while her eyes went wide. She didn't notice the other creature nearby, the one who was funneling magicka in to the tower of stones, until many moments later. Deus was still quite a ways away from the massive spike in the cave, and every few feet she'd exclaim in the same manner: "Oh WOW!" Her tail would wag, her pace would increase a little, and then... Things would slow down again. She'd forget, then she'd see the Spire, and everything would consistently repeat. Except that, when she got close enough, there was a New Thing - a brighter flash of light which drew her attention.
Upon stumbling after it, Deus nearly tripped over her own paws as she came upon the fisher. Again, her eyes went wide - but this time the words falling so enthusiastically out of her mouth were different. "Oh! You're so little! Hello!" Her flopped ears twitched as if to stand at attention, while her butt wiggled to and fro, likely because the tail that would've grown there was non-existent. "Hello! You're very small!" She spewed again, with only a little variation, only five minutes later. Sighhh.
Ky trailed Fisher all the way to the Spire, following dutifully behind him like a friend would. Her doubts were still full blown but out of respect she no longer attempted to dissuade him from giving his power back. If he wanted to try she would let him and hope for the best. When they reached the area with the Blue Thing Makyna stared in awe. So much magic was in the air that she could almost see it. It crackled throughout the air, pulsed through her bones, made her feel alive. A little gasp of awe bubbled from her throat as they walked through.
Her eyes now landed on the Spire itself. It almost felt alive with energy... Perhaps it really was a living thing that wanted nothing more than its power back. At his question of "Ready" the young lioness gave a nod of her head, tearing her eyes from the Spire to look back at him. He gave a great speech --or it seemed great to her-- then he touched the stone to give it back it's power. Makyna had no idea if it worked... but she had an idea of how to check. What if she touched the stone too? Sometimes she got visions when she touched things... Maybe this would happen the same? Perhaps this Magic Spire would tell her something.
She opened her mouth to say as much but suddenly it seemed like another creature popped out of nowhere. This one was larger than her and quite fluffy, even fluffier than Leon! It also seemed strangely but cutely happy at Fisher's size. Makyna couldn't help but let out a small little laugh at her enthusiasm. "Hello. You so very big and fluffy!" She giggled back with good humor, sure that the tiny creature might take offense to being called small.

The spell had worked. Fisher didn't notice anything happen, however, except for the continued dangerous sparking and all. Huffing, the mustelid backed away from the Spire only to get practically pounced on by some huge, fluffy dog.
Now, Fisher knew dogs. He even had a dog who he considered one of his first and closer friends, but... This one. This dog, with her wagging tail, and her fluffy, tangled fur and her high pitched barking. This one was louder than Isaac, and also wiggled almost as much as he did, and it seemed to just shout the same kinda stuff over and over.
It had absolutely ruined Fisher's concentration. While in any other circumstance the young kit might have gotten along with her, barking and wagging and bouncing around... But well, having just almost drowned and now trying to be an Adult and show the Blue Thing who was Boss, Fisher was a mustelid on a mission and nothing was to get in his way.
And then Makyna's voice rang in his ears and the frustration that was boiling to a point seemed to all but melt away. Fisher managed to wag his tail a little bit, and let out a tiny bark, "Yep." He did not like being called small, he didn't like it one bit. He wasn't that small anyway, was he? At least his friend was deflecting the attention away from his size.
"I'm Fisher, and I climbed that big ol Blue Thing, see? This is Makyna," he explained shortly. "Now look, I gotta get the.. The um. See. I need to show the Blue Thing who's Boss so don't interrupt, okay?" He hoped that the dog understood, but he remembered that Isaac, while precious, was quite a simple animal. Maybe all dogs were. He didn't know. He wasn't going to think about it too much.
Instead, he looked at the Spire, and without meaning to, his fur stood on end as a powerful amount of energy built up in his body. He felt like he was going to burst, his claws digging into the earth. Concerned that he might hurt Ky or the innocent dog even if she was annoying, the fisher scrambled off to one side and tried to redirect his magick...
post roll:
A huge ark of yellow light bolted out of Fisher's gem and flew straight into the Spire. Fisher's eyes went wide as his body went quite, quite tingly. He felt numb all over, like the time he had been knocked off the Spire-- but that. That was his Magick, certainly. It wasn't blue, like the Blue Thing, it was yellow. Had the Spire not given him his powers? Then...
Fisher had the sinking feeling like everything was about to get much, much worse. Perhaps it would have been best to flee Polaris while he had the chance, go back to a friendly marsh where there were many safe trees to climb. At least he hadn't hit Ky or the dog, right?... Right?
ROLL 15
Fisher attempts to Cast Spell — Bolt( Tries to redirect electricity towards the Spire! )
As soon as the spire was met with the blinding energy of the fisher's electricity, a loud CRACK rang through the air. The sound was thunderous, echoing throughout the entirety of the room, resonating to even nearby rooms and tunnels. Then, still silence. The spire absorbed the energy from the Gembound's assault, and for a moment, it simply processed the sudden influx of magic. A couple long seconds would transpire before the ground beneath the three Gembounds would begin to shake violently and suddenly. The earth trembled, making it difficult to stand upright. Anybody standing close to the spire would be at risk of slipping inwards, as the ground sank and seemed to break apart all around the towering crystals. The crystals however would remain aloft.
The air began to rapidly decrease in temperature. A cloud of moisture coughed up from the fissures creeping around the base of the spire, hanging as a dark mist near its peak. The groaning sound of rocks sliding against one another was deafened by an infinitely louder noise, a bellowing roar that exploded out from the shifting ground below. From behind the spire, a powerful fist burst through the stone, then another. A gargantuan monster, at least five meters tall, emerged from the depths, covered in a thick coat of white hair. It's ape-like face was contorted into a vicious snarl and it cracked open its fanged jaws to issue another rumbling roar at the three Gembounds, minuscule by comparison. Each breath it took was accompanied by a powerful, icy wind; above it, the clouds swirled and thundered, spewing a blizzard of snow. Once standing on its hind limbs, the beast then slammed its powerful fists down on the ground, causing another quake to ripple out from around it.

Her energy level did not dwindle when a second entity caught her attention - if anything, it increased. First there was the fuzzy noodle guy, then a giant kitty! She didn't know what they were, but boy was Deus glad to see them! Her glee manifested in the form of vibration; she shook her tail back and forth with more fervor, and was practically bouncing from paw to paw, and didn't even stop when Fisher tried to calm her down. How could she? There were two really nice new people right here! And a big shiny rock thing! And then Fisher flashed a bolt of energy towards the Spire, which arched to the monolith.
Deus watched this, overwhelmed by the light show. Her mouth hung open like a bear trap, and for a very brief second, she actually stopped. There was silence after the crack and boom of the magic - a silence which should've been an ominous signal to the creatures. In the middle of the quiet, Deus exclaimed with the exuberance of any innocent child: "WOW, that was AMAZING!" And as her voice bellowed out, bouncing from the walls and the ceiling and echoing in to the depths, there was a massive crash.
She thought she saw something move by the Spire. Maybe it was a new friend?! "Oh! Hello over there!" She called out, forgetting all about the fisher and the lioness beside her, and bound forwards - directly in to the line of sight of the giant creature, in time to witness it crash through the cavern wall. The rubble fell in disarray, with detritus rising up in the form of dust clouds, and while these partially obscured the creature, it was not enough to make Deus afraid. She was too young, too different, and only saw the dust cloud as an impediment towards meeting a new friend.
"Wait, I can help!" She called out next, and took a daring step forwards - unleashing a wave of light energy from her chest, which ran up her throat and out of her mouth like a puff of cold air. The light reached out to the surrounding rubble -
(ROLL EDIT:)
- and managed to root itself within some of the dust particles, creating a dim glow. It wasn't as bright as the Spire, but there was a new golden sheen to Deus' surroundings as the dust settled, as if someone had swatted a fairy. Upon seeing how poorly she had done, Deus pouted. "Aw, I'm sorry friend. I tried!" However, not long after finishing that sentence, the creature slammed its fists down and sent a rippling wave of power through the earth - flinging the poor puppy backwards, in to the collecting snow.

Life is precious.
Fisher explained shortly to the dog what they were doing and who they were. He seemed not to be very satisfied with the excitable critter. Truth be told she could see why but Makyna herself didn't mind the high strung canine. She didn't know why it didn't annoy her but it just didn't. She could look at the other's behavior and be amused by it but not annoyed.
Now her attention turned back to Fisher as his fur began to stand on end. The little fisher shuffled to one side before a bolt of electricity flew from him to the spire producing a thundering sound. The noise caused the lioness to wince in pain and crouch on the ground so she could cover her ears with her paws. However, there was only one crack then silence... but Makyna didn't think of it as a good silence. It filled her with an unforeseen dread. That Spire, they should have just left it alone!
Uncovering her ears the lioness stood up and slowly made her way to Fisher. Leaning down to whisper in his ear she said, "I... I think we should go... It doesn't feel right." She didn't know how she knew she just felt that things were going to get bad...
And boy was she right.
The ground beneath them began to shake and she nearly sank into an opening near the Spire. Her paws carried her backwards just in time though she let out a surprised growl. The air began to decrease in temperature, making the lioness shiver with cold as mist eased out of her mouth at each breath. The next few events transpired quickly.
Deus ran forwards as a strange white creature arose from the ground. Makyna tried to call out to the dog but her voice stuck in her throat because of the fear. It seemed that the yeti was coated in some ethereal glow... before it slammed its fists into the ground and sent the happy dog flying backwards. A yowl of pure terror escaped Makyna's jaws as she watched the canine fly backwards.
Worried for the puppy's safety she ran to check on her. Her small paws plowed through the snow that froze her pads as she crouched at Deus' side. "Are you okay?" After she uttered that phrase she thought of Fisher near the Spire and the yeti. Would he try to fight it? Oh, she hoped not! Her mind reached out to him and subconsciously she pulled upon her magic and sent out a thought to Fisher. "Get...away... No good... fighting..." It was a faint thought and faded. This was a new spell, one seldom used by her.

Fisher had hit the spire. He did it. He did it! His fur bristled, his whole body feeling numb and asleep, pins and needles all over him, puffed up like a blow-dried pet. Makyna nervously spoke in his ear, and he couldn't help but agree, yet he couldn't look away. He was afraid, but also awestruck by his own abilities, and a flushed feeling of confidence overtook him as the air grew ice cold and the roaring of rocks shifting screamed in his ears. Rocks exploded, dust filled the air, and then... The monster of the Spire came out from its slumber. The giant white beast, with its whirlwind of strange, thick snow (which was like mist, but in smaller packets, more tangible) swirling around the air. The air above them stormed with rage, and then the beast slammed its huge arms into the ground and shook Fisher from his paralyzed amazement.
The dog ran towards it, and suddenly there was light. As the monster struck the earth, the dog was knocked back into a pile of snow. Ky rushed to his aide and Fisher hobbled to stand between the fallen puppy and the beast. He heard a strange, foreign thought in his mind, carrying the tone of the lioness, tell him to not fight, to run.
He agreed, but he wasn't about to let Deus or Ky get hurt by the beast, not when he had such immense power. Suddenly he had come up with an idea, something that would work with Isaac, and maybe would work with this hyper puppy as well. "Doggie, play game! Tag. I'm it, okay?" He snapped back at the dog. "If I touch you, you lose, so run! I chase. Play!" He prowled towards the puppy and Ky, his eyes flicking back towards the beast. As long as the dog ran, he would chase after them, but if not-- if not he would have to stand and fight, keep the yeti from hurting the gembounds.
There wasn't much of this bizarre snow within the cave yet, so when Deus connected to the stone floor again, she slid in to a tiny flurry of ice. It would've been fun if it didn't hurt so much. It would've made her laugh and dance if she could get back on to her feet. But there was pain in her now; a new sensation accompanying the cold. And she knew, regardless of how long she knew it, that this was a bad feeling. This was something Deus did not like at all. She mewled softly as she struggled to her paws, and was on her wobbly set of all-fours by the time the lioness approached her.
"Are you okay?" Makyna muttered from one of Deus' sides, and the dog turned her head towards the big cat. She didn't say anything though - and instead tried to focus her blurry vision on the lioness. Why was everything so blurry? Maybe the yeti had knocked some sense in to the dog; or, maybe this was just the first stage of many minute failures within her already error-filled body.
"oOh-kay." The dog slurred, blinked, and then shuffled a step sideways. Deus tried to laugh it off, but only a tiny sound peeped out of her, and it was more like a groan. "De'ss is oOoo-kay."
Except, she really wasn't. There was no way to tell how damaging that single blow had been - and then Fisher was with them, sidling up to the pair and talking of games. A game would be far better than whatever was happening already! So, without much further prompting, Deus gave a bleary-eyed nod, and bound after the living sock. "Ch-ch-chase! Deus going... Going.." She made it a few feet before a great bellow alerted her to a very very important factor.
She'd run in the wrong direction - towards the yeti.

MAGICKA LEVEL 100% RESTORED TO 100%
Slamming its fists onto the rock, the ground trembled; the dog had been sent into a pile of snow that had quickly accumulated on the ground. The monster didn't move from its position, staring the Gembounds down as they clamored over the fallen canine. But, they didn't leave. This wasn't going to do, not at all. The yeti's jaws cracked open and heavy, huffing breaths escaped from between its long pointed teeth. It lumbered towards the three Gembounds, preparing to unleash another whirlwind of ice - when the dog got up and started to run towards it.
Now, monsters like this yeti aren't very smart. It only perceived the dog as a threat, and it would react appropriately. Seeing this small creature run towards it, it stepped back and unleashed a powerful, angry roar - one that shook the entirety of Polaris. Then it raised one of its heavy fists and took a swing at Deus, intending to send her flying back in the direction she had come.
Post Roll Edit:
But after striking Deus, the monster wasn't going to stop there. It had its sights set on the lioness and the fisher, and would begin to quickly advance on them, too. Their only chance of survival now would be to flee.
