She didn't need to be told twice. As the gem hummed into life and Midas explained, she scooped it up in her beak and hurriedly moved back to her nest. There, carelessly, she tossed the egg out and carefully dug into the nest. She parted the center, revealing the earth beneath, and set the newly embued stone shard into the dirt just slightly. There, she shuffled the nest around to hide it. She cooed adoringly at it before turning and facing Midas again.

"Now Green Scale sheds stone, and Ra'Hen gives it power, right?" She wasn't so angry now, so defensive. She was warming up to the snake, for he was indeed granting her a great wish. Babies. Children. Offspring. She'd be a mom. She'd be Ra'Ma next.

"Ra'Hen tuck both little babies into nest, be safe there. Safest nest. Ra'Hen protects."

Midas could not help but smirk whilst the avian was not looking, but when she was, he held the same sweet and benevolent (and fake) smile upon his features. The serpent nodded simply and lowered his head, focusing his magicka onto a certain part of his pyrite crown. He'd hate to see a bit of it go, but the crown had become rather rugged and cracked anyways. It wouldn't be too noticable.

A small shard of Pyrite fell from the back side of the crown and chimed rhymtically down his neck as it rolled towards the floor. Using his nose, he gently nudged the stone towards the hen.

She did as he'd done. Carefully, once the tiny yellow shard was on the ground in front of her, she bent down and pressed the tip of her beak against it, holding it carefully in place. Then, she closed her eyes and focused. The pull from the shard was plenty enough to let her magic flow into it, and with a vibrant orange glow, the shard became alive. Dazed by the sudden use of so much magic, Ra'Hen plucked the stone carefully from the ground and headed back to the nest. There, she deposited it beside it's nestmate and settled in on top of the pair, nesting as any good hen would. She eyed the snake.

"Green Scale, will it take long? Will they come quickly?" She wasn't sure what to expect, and unwilling to leave the nest unguarded, she hoped it wouldn't take too long. She'd fattened up since moving to Polaris, food easier to find, but would it be enough for her to fast the whole time? Would she need to leave, to hunt, before they came? She hoped not.

@Midas

Midas watched the hen and her success at giving stone and life for the very first time. The avian ran to her nest one last time and planted the stone beneath her nest, then began to lay atop the nest. As she asked a question, the serpent shook his head, "I do not know. I have been told that it will take a cycle."

The snake decided it was time to hunt, and perhaps he'd bring the hen back something. Yes. Butter up the sweet bird before he took the children as his. So, the serpent disappeared into the shadows from whence he came.

One whole cycle. That was a long time to sit on a nest. Ra'Hen's stomach growled with protest to the idea, but she silenced it with a nod.

"Very good, then. Green Scale go do scale things. Ra'Hen sleep, protect babies." She shooed him, but it wasn't as if she needed to. He slithered away and she watched him go, satisfied with the encounter.

As she settled down to nap, however, her eyes wandered to the abandoned egg, rolled onto the floor lifelessly. It was a shame. She'd worked so hard on that egg. She could tell she had another brewing already. Her body would produce these lifeless husks... but for what purpose? Sighing, the avian tucked her head down and closed her eyes.

She'd think about it later. For now, she was tired, and needed a good night's rest.
