tonight, the foxes hunt the hounds,
and it's all over now!!!

Fisher was decked out in his wicked new armor, shining metal casing covering his whole back, flexible enough that he could curl up into a ball and practically become invincible-- and to be honest, the cocky little runt wanted to show off to one of his favorite ladies. You see, Fisher was becoming something of a... What do you call it... A playboy, if you will.

And he wasn't going to stop until he got SOME SORT OF ASS. Thankfully, Fang had always sort of playfully hinted that she was totally down for whatever whenever and so he romped over to the dusty place he knew as Monoceros... And realized he had absolutely no idea where anything was. He had never been in the horribly loud, obnoxiously windy place and he stepped out into the open and felt incredibly exposed.

He supposed he would have to find one of Fang's many thieves and see if they knew where she was, but little did he know that he was about to find his way into a hole so deep that he would just simply assume there was treasure if he just dug a bit deeper.

Fisher really needed a better outlet than just harassing random gembounds, but whoops. Here he was.

@Fleur (im so sorry)

Canis was... just as creepy and weird as she remembered it, actually. Fleur grimaced, picking her way around piles of bones and puddles of murky water. The glimmer of gemstones within the mounds made her wince, the crown heavy on its perch. Grumbling to herself, whiskers twitching, the skunk continued to wobble through the cave, her walk, as always, almost tank-like, tail held high, silky fluff pristine - save for her paws, which were slowly turning the same color as the dusty ground of the cavern.

This needed to get done fast - get through the room, settle the plan, get to Monoceros. She'd spent too long already getting attached in Polaris, collecting other Gembounds like some mother hen - which she was not. Was she? Fang had twisted her so thoroughly that she hadn't ever really gotten to know herself, so maybe she was.

It was mildly perturbing.

But not as perturbing as the armored noodle noodling about nearby. Fleur came to a sudden halt, freezing, eyes widening as she took in the... other. What he was beyond noodly and possible dangerous, she didn't know, so she kept her distance, clearing her throat with a rumble and a glimmer of pink teeth. "Hey. You. What's. With. The. Getup?" It looked like battle armor, which was... probably not good. Unless he was going to use it against Fang. Then he could noodle wherever he damn well pleased.

tonight, the foxes hunt the hounds,
and it's all over now!!!

Fisher heard someone call out to him and he froze, putting on a playful grin. Aha, there! Someone who could help him find his way to Fang-- woah woah woAH HOLD UP. Fisher paused as he looked at the stout, long tailed mammal bathed in soft, puffy white fur and he did a double take.

She wasn't quite a noodle, but as he took a step around her, tilting his head, he could tell she was... Definitely closer to his species than most he ran into in the cave. Besides, that tail of hers looked absolutely cozy, like something he could bury his curious little nose into and fall asleep like it was a pillowy cloud.

The mustelid cleared his throat and raised his head, grinning even harder as he started to bark out a reply, "Well, heeeeeeeeello, sweetheart~" His coo of greeting extended to her, he bowed his head, tail swishing low behind him in a sway. She was absolutely luscious, he thought as he watched her with his narrow coppery gaze, unable to wipe the smirk off of his stupid face.

"This just happens to be state of the art protective armor, perfect for helping me fight off any big nasty gembounds who think they might want to hurt any cuties on my watch." He stepped closer to her, completely forgetting just why he had come to Monoceros in the first place.

"My name's Fisher, sweetheart, at your service!" He offered with a coy wink, bringing himself as close as she'd dare let him. His gem glistened and sparked under his armor faintly as he tried to touch at her heart strings and pluck a few of them-- a little devious secret of his that got All The Ladies ™ swooning at his feet.

And now the noodle was doing... uh... something. Fleur's eyes narrowed as he stepped nearer, moving to copy him, keeping her chest puffed up, head held high and back, like Fang had taught her. It was intimidating, apparently. More importantly, it kept her balanced, ready to bap the noodle away with a well-placed boop to the snoot if he got any more uncomfortably close. While grinning. What was it with creepy dudes and grinning?

Well, heeeeeeeeello, sweetheart~ Fleur's glare turned into a blank stare of befuddlement, staring hard at the armored... guy... in confusion. Sweetheart? But he was bowing his head, which she at least knew how to respond to, her own muzzle dipping in returned greeting, the ammolite tiara perched on her flat fluffy head shimmering in the dim light of Canis. Still, it was hesitant - he was smirking, like she imagined Eve would after one of her many jokes.

And then he was even closer why, and Fleur's snout wrinkled, leaning back in place as he expounded on his armor. "Cuties?" The word was drawn out and slow, completely uncomprehending, but banished just as quickly with a snort. "No. Matter. The armor. It. Works?" She straightened up, leaning to the side and peering at the layered scales. "Would be. Helpful. To find. Something. Similar," she murmured, thinking of the unfortunate Queen of Thieves and her venomous bite.

Just as soon as she leaned in, she leaned back again, raising an eyebrow as the noodle practically breathed in her air. "...sweet-heart?" She blinked once, twice, one ear flicking, before her tail swished down and forward, looping around one of her legs as she tilted her head to one side. If he wanted to call her the same things she called her kids, that was his prerogative.

"I am. Fleur. Of the. Merrymen." Well, never too early to set up the cover, at least. She opened her mouth to ask him to maybe, y'know, get out of her face, when her heart stuttered in her chest, and red eyes widened, flickering to focus on Fisher with an angry, confused whine. "What. Was. That?" The skunk took a solid step back, top lip flipping up to reveal glittering stone teeth. "Do not. Use your. Magics. On me. It is. Rude." Her tone was more stern than truly angry, as if she were scolding a child - which, in a way, she was, considering he'd apparently taken to seeing her as some form of... mom?

tonight, the foxes hunt the hounds,
and it's all over now!!!

The pale skunk spoke slowly, softly, staring at him with baffled confusion. She seemed a bit intimidated by him at first, but she still replied to him and that was basically all he was looking for. She pondered over his armor and he was quick to nod and show off just how flexible it was with a bit of stretching and twisting.

"Like a dream," he practically pured in response to her question, and finally she gave her name to him reluctantly. Better yet, she told him that she was part of the Merrymen! That meant she knew Fang, which was why he was here, but that could certainly wait-- Oh. She had noticed his magic, had she? The babe took a step back, baring her fangs at him, snapping a sharp retort that was stern.

A lady who liked to set up boundaries. No problem for the great fisher cat, who merely dipped his head and smiled up at her remorsefully. "Ah, my apologies. Sometimes the metal makes my magicks act up... You see, I'm an electricity user, and, dearie, sometimes a bit of static makes the heart race. Don't worry, it's harmless." It was a shame she had caught him, but that was alright. Surely she could understand a simple mistake.

"I would never cast on someone so carelessly on purpose. Forgive me, Miss Fleur,"
he cooed, raising his chin and taking a shy step back. Despite lying straight to her face, he kept up the reserved, shy expression and turned his eyes away from her. "Perhaps you would like to try the armor on? I could slip it off and you can see how it feels-- it's probably a bit too long, a little too big, but that's alright."

He smiled softly, glancing back at her. A little prickle of amusement slipped into his tone as he teased, "would keep my gem from misbehaving, too."

Well, at least he knew how to apologize. Fleur settled, teeth disappearing back under her white snout, and she shrugged, fur rippling back into place, accepting the excuse with a nod. "You are. Forgiven. I am. Not. Used to. Such. Things," she murmured, gaze returning to eyeing his armor enviously. "My magic. It is. Healing. It. Mends." Mended her, anyhow, and that's really what mattered to the tank-like woman.

Nevertheless, it seemed she hadn't offended him too much, as he offered up the armor - and a bright gleam entered her pink-red eyes, imparted, no doubt, by the Queen of Thieves herself. "Well, if. It. Would. Keep your. Gem. From. Misbehaving," the skunk murmured back, gaze flickering to Fisher's face for a moment, one eyebrow raised, before returning to pin on the armor's gleaming surface. "I would. Appreciate. The. Opportunity. Mister...?" He wasn't familiar to her, but then again, she was sure there were hundreds of Gembounds she wasn't familiar with, being cooped up in Monoceros for so long.

"What. Are. You doing. Wandering. In armor?" Her eyes still wandered the plates, but she kept the noodley man in her peripheries, walking a slow circle around him. If he was an enemy of the Merrymen, all the better - an ally... well. Perhaps she could persuade him to her side of the argument. After all, the evidence still sat perched on her head, the seven-point crown gleaming in the light of Canis.

tonight, the foxes hunt the hounds,
and it's all over now!!!

The emotions that Fisher expected the young lady to have were far from what he received. She felt, on one level, confused-- but on others, envious, curious, wanting. Oh, she wasn't interested in him, he could feel that out with his magic, but he was starting to feel confident that she was interested in what he had to offer her-- which, in the end, maybe could be the same thing? He flashed a grin at her words, leaning back on his haunches to undo some straps-- it was a complicated, fussy thing, that always took more effort than he liked, but it was easier to get off than on and he supposed that was a good thing.

The noodle slipped out of the armor, listening to it clink on to the dusty floor. He popped up, his fur all messy from the helmet, and beamed at her. "Well, you see, Miss," he went to explain immediately, "I've been in enough rough and tumble fights that it's always good to be prepared." Promptly he shifted around so he could show off his massive scar along his flank. "That, and my stone was damaged in an unfair battle, two huge bastards against just me, barely won with my life intact-- so it's sensitive. Better to keep it protected from the elements when I can."

That all explained, he nudged the metal stuff towards Fleur, encouraging her to go ahead and wiggle right in. It would be too big and heavy for her, he was sure, so she wouldn't run off with it. Though, to be honest, he thought her a nice, civilized woman. One worth grooming with his gentle, kind words until she fell for him.
