Tag // Fira ~ Snake!

Fisher had made his way to a place where green was everywhere. It reminded him of where he hatched, but the air was thick with the smell of earth instead of muck, and he could actually see. Clambering up vine-covered rocks and through ferns, the excited mustelid's nose was filled with the tasty scent of one of his favorite things: Mice. He just had to find one!

The long brown animal carried a stone in his jaws and had a slight limp, but his wound was healing well. Buzzing with excitement, the creature began to hum a single, solid note. Cetus had once hummed the same way, and being close but not quite home had brought back the memory clearly.

His paw was aching by the time he reached the giant mushroom in the middle, and his jaw wasn't much better for carrying a dumb (but precious) rock. Digging up a shallow hole by the mushroom, he buried the rock for now. He would be back no matter what. First of all, he had to climb the tall fungi. Tall things had to be climbed. Without Leon or a suitable replacement rival, however, Fisher decided to put it off.

One thing was more important than climbing. Food. Leaving his lucky rock for retrieval later, the fisher trotted into the ferns and began to hunt the mice in the area. He caught a wiff of tantilizing, unresistable prey and began to stalk after it, eyes wide.

Sure that he was close, the brown furred critter burst through the ferns in his way and found himself without mouse but tossed into a strange creature. Was it even a creature? The fisher darted back as it moved, yelping in alarm. What was the weird thing on the ground! It was like Fisher, long and noodly, but somehow even longer and without legs and fur.

"You're not a mouse!" He complained loudly, but he wasn't about to dismiss the idea that the long thing wasn't food. If it didn't speak, maybe he could eat it.

Snake was an angry snake and hated being disturbed. There she was lying in the ferns taking a nap and no one was bothering her. And it was heavenly. She’d emerged from her topaz egg only a few days before and it had pissed her off so much to be exposed to something new and exciting. Eugh. Snake didn’t need new or exciting things. She needed to sleep and eat. And… that was basically it. It was what she existed for. So when someone interrupted one-half of the reason for her existence, you can see why she would be so pissed about it.

I mean, who did that? No one saw Snake wandering around making loud crash-y noises through the undergrowth and then making louder shout-y noises at sleeping Gembound, did they? No. No, she didn’t think so. So who the hell was this random creature who decided to come in and interrupt her sleep? Well, she didn’t care who it was. They were gonna get a talking-to regardless. And if that didn’t chase ‘em off, then she’d bite them. Until they died. Or, you know, got the message and left. Whichever came first, she guessed. I mean, at least if they died she’d have a free meal but… meh. Either way.

She hissed loudly at the offensive creature and slithered through the ferns toward it with alarming speed. (Black Mambas are one of the fastest-moving snakes on Earth). “Who daresssss dissssturb my ressssst?” she demanded, flicking her tongue out over and over to taste the air. She could “see” the creature, through the glands that allowed her to sense heat. The creature was bigger than she was, but she was longer, and had bite-y fangs. She lifted her body up out of the undergrowth, showing off her six-foot-length and hoping it would scare the thing off so she could go back to sleeping.

The strange creature lunged at him as he backed away, and that made the mustelid scamper back more, and immediately look for something to climb, something to escape to if the unusual vine-animal attacked him. It was so fast though, and that... Well.

Fisher wasn't scared of many things, and he certainly wasn't scared of a thing that didn't even have legs (that would be preposterous!) but the long, wriggly creature that didn't look like anything the young gembound have ever seen before did intimidate him. Just a little of course-- ignore the trembling in his paws. He was fine!

The snake was tall, too. Where as fisher was long as well, this thing could reach up high above him. The thing hissed and flicked its strange, thin and forked tongue a him, demanding to know who he was, apparently. Hissing back, the fisher chattered as he kept his distance. Noticing a large stick, he made a broad circle towards it, and made sure ot put it between him and the angry creature, his eyes narrowing.

"I am Fisher! You're not a mouse. What are you?" He demanded right back, trying to charge the stick with electricity while he spoke, just in case the scary intimidating monster lunged at him. The mustelid had a distinct feeling that this thing was much more willing to attack him than the dangerous hoofed deer he was used to.

post roll:

Unfortunately, the stick didn't seem to like being filled with energy. It crackled dangerously for a moment, and then splintered with a snap, the electricity flooding into the ground where it wanted to be, and leaving him without so much as a single defense from the black mamba.

OOC: Jafar, you said you didn’t mind if Fisher got bitten, so I went ahead and attempted it. I won’t have Snake try to kill him or anything, but tell me if you want me to change it.

Snake continued to flick her tongue to help keep track of the moving target. She scoffed when he seemed angry that she was not a mouse. “No, ssssssstupid,” she hissed. “Sssssnake is a sssssnake. What are you? Food, maybe?” Snake wasn’t particularly hungry, but if this thing was going to interrupt her nap and then yell at her for not being a mouse, then she was most certainly entitled to eat it – at least in her mind. Of course, she wasn’t at her full length yet. An entire fisher would be way too much for her. But she didn’t know that. Her ego was so huge she figured she could eat ten of whatever this annoying creature was.

Suddenly the air crackled with electricity. She hissed in uncertainty and fear, not knowing what was happening. Her poor eyesight did not pick up on the stick, but she was suddenly picking up a lot of heat very quickly and she didn’t know why. And then just as quickly as it had come, it was gone. “What did you do, Food?” she asked the fisher. “Sssssnake isss going to eat you no matter what.”

Without warning, she lunged forward with the speed of a, well, snake, attempting to bite the creature. She hit... some part of his body. She wasn't sure what part, but she knew she got him. She could taste a bit of blood. That first bite felt nice -- the feel of her fangs sinking through fur and into warm flesh... It was her first taste of blood, and she was already addicted.

Absolutely horrified, the brown furred animal tried his best to escape. He turned heel to run, but that flicked his tail right into the long monster's mouth-- did it say it's name was Snake? It had called him food. Fisher had never been bit before in his entire young life, and he never wanted to be bitten again. Yelping, the young mustelid wiggled and squirmed, trying to get the snake off of his tail. It didn't hurt as bad as landing on his paw, probably because it had less nerves, but he was absolutely frightened out of his tender mind. Fisher was not food. This thing was so fast and so big though, surely...

"No!" Fisher screeched, his body twisting around to lash out at the snake. He flailed his paws, claws out, at the snake, wildly like a desperate animal. "I talk! You don't eat things that talk! That's the rules!" He snapped and hissed and yowled, but largely his flailing was going to be useless if the snake didn't want to let go because he wasn't really... Fighting back, not properly. He was too young, too inexperienced, too frightened.

But where his body failed him, his magick would not. A great amount of power built up in him, perhaps from how his fur rubbed against each other in his squirming, but the electricity was there. The single line of gold in his gem began to glow, and with a painful flash, a powerful jolt was sent out of Fisher's body... Not directly into Snake, for he was trying to escape, not hurt the fellow Gembound. Instead, where the lightning went was up to the lightning to decide.

Post Roll:
Thankfully for Fisher and Snake, the bolt didn't redirect into either of them, instead it flashed up into the sky with a painful tingle filling the fisher and perhaps the snake would feel it too, but the dangerous magick wouldn't injure either of them seriously.

Snake was forced to let go of the squirming, yowling, hissing Food when a sudden painful jolt went through her. She released her hold on the Food’s tail and let out an angry and pained hiss, shaking her head to try and clear the feeling from her body. At this point, she wasn’t so intent on eating the thing. If the Food would just leave her alone to nap, then that was good enough for her. But it had just hurt her, somehow, so now she was even angrier. “Leave Ssssnake alone!” she hissed at it. “Sssssnake was napping! Don’t make her bite you again, Food!”

She was still a bit dazed from the bolt of electricity, and wasn’t quite sure where the Food was in relation to her anymore, so she just made herself nice and tall again, swaying angrily from side to side to seem threatening. “Leave! Ssssnake will eat you otherwissssse!” The world slowly came back into focus, and the pain of the bolt subsided. But her anger remained. Snake was always angry. That was a given. In fact, she was so angry, she felt herself accessing some sort of… spell? What was this?

Well, whatever she had been feeling quickly left her body, so she shook it off. Whatever it was, it apparently didn’t want to come out. She didn’t care. She just wanted to be left alone!

Fisher had just wanted a mouse, and now he was being called food by something so big and strange and... The poor mustelid was just happy that he was free, twisting and squirming as he flopped over the moss covered earth, tumbling through the ferns. He wasn't sure when he found his feet, but when he had he was scrambling up the nearest plant he could find. His claws sunk into the hard bark of a tree, and up the critter went, his tail burning with pain and his injured paw not doing much better. Once the fisher had gotten high enough he thought he had escaped the snake, he dared risk a look down.

"Hey! I'm not food!" He yowled down at the dangerous animal, the thing that had hurt him and insulted his pride. He felt more wounded than ever, his entire instinct screaming to never leave that tree and just stay until everything was gone. "Talking! I'm talking! Food doesn't talk! Don't eat Fishers!" He snarled, making his way up to the nearest branch with a slow, careful pace. He didn't want to fall after all.

Once he had made his way on to the branch, he curled himself around to look at his tail injury. There was the red liquid, clotting up on his injury like the last time he had hurt himself. He wished he had that one animal, the red not-dog but not-cat Louie to help his wound heal, or at least Makyna. His ears laid back as he inspected it, his brown fur dark and damp. He hated seeing that crimson goop coming out of him, he really did. Not to mention it hurt.

Fisher looked back down at the snake, his eyes narrowing. He wished it would go away, and go away forever, but he knew he had no chance of beating it in a fight... And well, Tamelyn had told him explicitly that he wasn't allowed to eat talking gembounds and more to the point, he shouldn't hurt things he didn't want to eat. So he just glared down at the snake, hissing and growling softly, waiting for a chance to come back down and find that tasty mouse. Because Fisher was a stubborn beast. He wouldn't leave until he got his prey successfully, even if it meant starving up in the tree.

Snake flicked her tongue out over and over to feel for the Food, and felt it crawl its way upward – probably into a tree. She decided that it wasn’t worth it to chase the thing, as long as it left her alone. She hissed angrily some more, swaying back and forth and trying to scare it for a while longer, hoping that if she did then it would never come back and she sleep in peace. “Sssssstay up there, Food! And don’t sssssspeak! I’ll be ssssssleeping far away, sssso don’t come chasssssing after me!” Once she was done with her threat, she turned tail (literally) and slithered away in the underbrush, muttering about ‘ssssstupid food.’

Somewhere still in the same area, but far from where Fisher was hiding, she curled up under some ferns and went back to sleep, not caring about the Food or what it did now, as long as it left her alone…

[[You can keep this going if you want, but otherwise, you can have the last post. Either way. :D]]

The long, weird awful beast had left. Fisher's tail ached as he watched the snake slither away. He was horrified at the thought that something had seen him as food, and for a long time, he didn't dare come down. Part of him wanted to show the nasty thing that he was bigger and tougher than it, but the last thing he wanted was to be eaten. He definitely didn't want that, and he definitely couldn't bring himself to try anything with his injuries.

The snake did leave, though, so he wouldn't have to worry. Timidly-- an unusual way to describe the usually over confident mustelid-- Fisher made his way back down and ran off to find some prey far, far away in the opposite direction of the snake. There was plenty of Eridanus cavern to explore, after all. He would find plenty of tasty, nontalking, appropriate to eat mice to fill his belly.

And at least Fisher had learned something from the experience; some things did not understand that gembounds were not to be eaten.

;; Fisher Exit!

((yee we can end the thread here :D t'was fun though, now fisher might be more cautious-- aha, haha, HA yeaH RIGHT))
