For a while there the eyes of the bovid had become lost in wandering. Now they attempted to do their best in focus. There had been far too many cycles spent in the mindless walking. It was time to put a purpose to his movements. Kharis was no longer a child, no longer small in stature or have a defenseless head. Grand horns had grown into place reaching their prime only recently. Of course at younger times the growing horns were tested on many things and now they were in need of a larger target.
It was time to break more than the little contact with other crystalline creatures of the caverns. No more would contact be shrugged off with a heavily emitted huff, a snort accompanied with a charge. All a show as well as actual action to chase the other gems away. A loner by heart and by nature since the time of his birth. Trickery on his tongue then and even more so now. But none of that past truly mattered now did it?
Horned crown shook as a huff of air expelled from his lungs, gait slowing to a walk. The roof above glittered as it reflected against the floor. Nostrils flared as a hoof tested the strength of the small growths upon the grounds. The hardly formed, brittle pieces chipped with the motion while the larger formed ones showed more resistance. And when they did not break right away the buffalo quickly lost interest.
Hooves carrying him onward, stopping only when a lumbering creature was detected in the distance. Large ears rolled at the sides of his head while eyes focused in on the beast. Coloration of the hide vaguely familiar as well as the crystal nails of one foot. Amber eyes narrowing as he brought himself to approach. Memories of a much smaller crocodile claiming the bull had stolen his fish, when no such thing had happened. No desire to consume the thing.
It was different now. Not within the desire of eating whatever this flesh consumer did but it was the times. Each had grown since that day, if it were in fact that exact beast. Broad shoulders rolled as the buffalo began to close the distance between them. Words rumbling within his chest deepening there before befalling his tongue, “If it isn’t the runt all grown up.” Assumptions made on who this was, but memory does not allow one to forget a nose biter.
