Nestled within the depths of Cetus, the chrysalis, although fairly large, lay still, the life within comfortable with their surroundings as faint images of dark water and mist drifted through their mind. Though the mud holding the purple gem left the world with a dark brown hue, staining the gem to appear faintly as the rocks scattered through the swamp.
Eyes cracked open, flat feet pressing against the edges of the chrysalis. Something in her mind telling her it was time to leave the warmth of her home, though the low grunt that echoed from her chest allowed silence to return to her mind. She didn't want to leave her home. Not when it was so warm, and familiar, with the gentle lapping of water against the surface of her home already easing her mind back into slumber.
Who would want to leave something so nice just to go outside?

Tal'at was going for a ride on the land "boat"-- Big Bog. His friends had strange names for some things, but he was quite comfortable to just hang around his gardener friend. Part of him, frankly, just wanted to keep an eye on the big guy-- make sure his wound didn't affect him too badly.
Big Bog was surprisingly strong and healthy for a pig with a hole in its chest. Tal'at laid upon Big Bog's snout, nestled between one and a half tusks, comfy as all could be. He was listening to the drum of the Bog's heart, as usual, now that any possible autopsy had been done on the living plant of flesh and blood.
The bat was starting to believe his friends were immortal, honestly. Dragon and Big Bog had survived so much where Tal'at had only scraped by by staying completely out of it. He was glad they were home now-- having seemingly immortal friends nearby made him feel all the more safe.
Something important caught the bat's attention, however, and he made a clicking noise as he lifted his heavy head. "Friend Big Bog? There is life. Something is growing... Soft and quiet... Do you see?" He gestured with a wing in a vague direction towards the growing chrysalis, his ears twitching as he felt the creature's heartbeat just as clearly as Big Bog's own underneath him, even as clearly as his own heart. Something was alive... Something new.

Czernobog tromped through the reeds and ankle-high swamp water that covered Cetus, content and relaxed by the weight of Tal'at on his snout. It had taken him a solid week to gather enough energy to even stand after his tangle with the jaguar, and he looked it - his gait had a continuous sway to it, still-healing electrical wounds wrinkling with each step. Still, it didn't seem to bother him much.
Then again, almost nothing seemed to bother the massive hog.
He slowed his steps when his tiny friend spoke in that strange, stilted language of all the tongue-speakers. Friend. Life. Growing. Soft. Quiet. See? Czernobog's black, shaggy head slowly rose, swinging to and fro, before his gaze focused on the chrysalis in question, and he grinned, breaking into an excited trot. "Baaaaaaaby!"
He slowed to a stop next to the crystal, lowering his snout to rest against its surface, snuffling curiously at the rock. And then, without another word to Tal'at... he began to hum. It was a low, only vaguely melodic thing - a welcoming, of sorts, learned from Dragon himself. Come out and see the world, little one.

The gentle atmosphere within the chrysalis had lulled her back into a half resting state, eyes snapping open at the sound of heavy steps approaching her safe place, before something nudged against the walls of her home, the deep rumble stirring her body with a small huff from her throat, a leg striking gently back against where the shadow was darkest against the shell of her Chrysalis, silently wishing to be left alone again.
Though her body stilled for a mere moment, the calf quickly changed her mind something telling her that it would be worth it to try and break out. A testing tap once more against the inner walls of the chrysalis, barely feeling it move, even with what strength her body could muster up before tapping again at the source of the darkness within her home.
Perhaps if they were on the outside, they could help her get out?

Tal'at waited, listening to the heartbeat of his friend and the baby. It seemed he was right-- there was a newborn ready to hatch. Big Bog approached, humming and pressing his snout to the surface. Tal'at clambered up on top of the gemstone, listening to the thing inside tap just beyond the wall.
... A moment passed. Perhaps it was stuck. Tal'at had a similar fate as a child-- had another gembound not come to save him, he would have probably starved in his prison. A shiver went down his spine and quietly, he whispered to Big Bog.
"They are stuck. We should help. Break the gem. Free the baby," Tal'at recommended to Bog, blindly twisting his face towards the furry boar. There was little Tal'at could do to help, himself, being smaller than the stone himself. Still, he had diagnosed the problem, hadn't he?

A thump greeted his call, and the boar relaxed a bit, bolstered by the sign of life within the egg. He didn't know if there'd ever been a "dead" egg, but he dreaded the day he came to find out. Another tap came, and Czernobog grinned, tilting his head to snuffle at the surface of the chrysalis, as if to scent out the babe inside. Nothing but mud and swamp swirled into his nostrils, but he guarded the thing still.
Stuck. Help. Break. Gem. Free. Baby.
The boar's hum slowed to a stop as he rose his head to peer at Tal'at, as if considering the order, before rising, slow and a bit unsteady. Uncertainty made him hesitate, before he raised a hoof - and an eyebrow - and tapped at the egg's surface next to the bat. It didn't make so much as a dent, but he didn't dare put any more pressure on the gem. After all, he could break right through and hurt the baby inside! Frustrated, he snorted at his tiny friend. "Tiiiiny," he tried, slowly, attempted to remember some of Willow's lessons. "Couuuuuld. Huuuuuuurt. Baaaaaaaaby," the pig finally rumbled out, ears perking up and lips splitting into a grin at the success.
He tip-tapped at the egg again, just to drive the point home, tail wagging cheerily.

Her ears flicked gently as the sound of speech filtered through the walls of the chrysalis, the steady rumbling slowing to a stop, as the shadow pulled away ever so slightly. A gentle tapping to the gem brought her attention to the darker portion of the shadow, pressing a flat foot gently against it in curiosity, hearing the low drawn out rumbles of speech that had her tilting her head.
Hurt?
Something in her mind seemed to connect the dots, her foot drawing away from the edge of the chrysalis as she shifted about, letting herself get comfortable before throwing her foot out against the inner shell of her home, hearing the quiet crack before her foot broke through.
Pulling her leg back, the infant shifted around, pressing more of her weight against the weakened portion of the chrysalis, feeling the rest of the wall give under the pressure, tumbling free with a quiet grunt.

Big Bog spoke in his usual slow drones, but this time he was really trying to make a whole sentence. The bat clicked his tongue on the roof of his mouth softly, ears twitching. "I understand Bog. We should be... Careful with baby." He stretched his wing arms around the round shell, trying to get a better feel for what they were working with-- when the shell cracked under him. Quickly, the bat realized that chrysalis was going and in an instant he scrambled up and took flight, gliding back over to the Big Bog's back.
Butt facing the newborn, the bat listened to her strong, steady heartbeat. "Welcome little one," he cooed, shifting around on the boar until he was quite comfortably nestled against the pig's large, hulking neck. "We are the... Children of Rot." His sweeping orb face finally craned towards the newborn, but from his position on the Big Bog-- it was a bit difficult to see the new life bellow, probably. Not that it mattered for Tal'at.

Understand. Czernobog beamed at the assurance, dancing in place. Be. Careful. Baby. A nod, and the boar watched as the bat stretched out on top of the egg - only for it to break open, sending Tal'at flying back to perch on the pig's back. For his part, Czernobog let out an ecstatic snort, head moving down to snuffle at the little babe's skin in welcoming. Welcome. We. Are. Rot. He nodded in agreeance, huffing. "Weeeeeeelcome, baaaaaaaaby!"
Another tip-tap of hooves in celebration, and the hog was sinking down to rest on the swamp floor, front legs moving to bracket the tiny hippo protectively. It looked healthy, but then, he didn't trust the big electric cat not to come back and try to hurt it. Not an Old One, but strong. They will be Mighty, Czernobog thought, humming in approval, snout pressed up against the newborn's stomach.

Lifting her head, the calf blinked the haze from her eyes, ears flicking about as her head swiveled, everything wasn't tinted brown? Movement near her brought her attention to the large form beside her, legs bracketing the small area she sat as though attempting to protect her. A pleased growl echoing in her throat at the simple action, flat feet tapping against the ground with a quiet squelching sound from the mud.
"Welcome little one,"
Her movements paused, staring at the large boar as her head tilted, was he the one that spoke? No, he wasn't. That was the first voice she heard. So there were multiple people here? Allowing her gaze to roam, the calf could barely make out the small gembound clinging to the boar's neck.
"We are the... Children of Rot." the bat had said, prompting a curious tilt of her head, mouth opening slightly to poke her tongue from between her jaws.
"Weeeeeeelcome, baaaaaaaaby!" There it was, the drawn out rumble that had to be the boar's voice.
Turning her attention back to the boar, the calf heaved herself to her feet, stumbling slightly on unsteady feet before grunting. Bumping her head against Czernobog's snout, and turning her attention towards Tal'at, simply staring in hopes that her intent to head bump the smaller gembound would come across easily.
