A sneer across his face the jaguar found his way into Polaris again. Mocking and silently screaming from the damage his paw had taken from that vile shadow doe back in Canis. He dared not to wear the pain outward, lest there be someone watching, waiting for a hint of weakness. He would not stand for that, he would not be prey again. He was sick of the assault, sick of every living thing trying to tear a pound of his flesh off for themselves. He would stay strong, he would survive...for Clover...
Stopping abruptly he smiled, ears flickering towards the distance. Food...one unsuspecting cave rabbit, ripe for his taking. Vicktor liked to think of himself as an aficionado, at least in the area of catching food. He had done pretty well for himself, even with past injuries. Yet one of his paws were broken, his front left throbbing with pain at the mere thought of trying to pounce for a quick snack.
Grumbling he made his way closer, giving little time for the rabbit to react; yet he failed. The fawn rabbit bolting from beneath him; easily avoiding his injured grasp. A snarl escaped his lips...he would try again.

Despite his failure he still considered himself an aficionado in catching prey. Hey, even the best hunters had their off days. Add that with his current injury and he felt this failure was fine to overlook. Yet again, maybe it wasn't. If he couldn't hunt, he couldn't survive. He needed a meal, and fast. His stomach was already rumbling, rivaling that of his own hiss of displeasure.
Slinking through the area yet again he found another clueless rabbit. One that was fat, happy and turned away from him. OH this couldn't have been set up any better! Rather than use his magic Vicktor would attempt the trusty approach of catching it in his teeth. He preferred being able to bite into the flesh than to lick it up off the floor below.
Another attempt he launched himself at the rabbit, kicking a small stone up with his left paw; alerting the rabbit. Before he could sink into that sweet taste of flesh, it was gone. Before his very eyes, vanishing into a nearby bush and continue its escape. The jaguar couldn't help but hiss.

Vicktor was beginning to doubt himself and his own abilities. He couldn't even catch one measly rabbit? Though thinking on it, an aficionado didn't have to be someone who was good at anything. They just had to be enthusiastic, and he was rather enthusiastic about hunting; perhaps a bit too much for his own good really.
One final try, promising himself would would most definitely be eating tonight. Even if it nearly killed him, he was so ravenous really. Lurking through the underbrush now he slowly approached a small gathering of fat young rabbits. Drooling at the mere thought of tasting of their sweet ichor.
A little too eager for feasting Vicktor leapt out from his cover. Unable to grab hold of a single rabbit before crashing down on the floor beneath him. Upon his collision a final squeak ripped through the air and Vicktor could feel something beneath him, breaking. Raising a brow he lifted himself, glancing down at the viscera that was oh so heavenly laid out before him. Within all the panic a rabbit must have froze, sealing its own fate beneath his weight. Technically Vicktor hadn't caught it...it merely, ended itself really...But he was not one to turn away from a good, let alone a free meal!
Fangs ready he began to shred the rabbits fur, peeling and devouring it skin first. Taking the time to enjoy every drop of blood that pooled and rushed from the exposed muscle gripped within his claws. It wasn't a large meal, especially for someone his size, but it was a meal. One he would devour like all the others, bones and all. Cracking them into small bits, swallowing some whole as he practically covered his face with sanguine. Leaving the organs for last as they were his absolute favorite, especially the heart.

Fever was walking with her brother, who was leaning agaisnt her every now and again. They'd made up, somewhat, after their big fight, and he'd forgiven her. At least, that's what he said. She still felt a bitter guilt inside her that no words could get rid of. She owed him a huge debt, one she never thought she'd be able to repay.
His eyes were getting better....there was that, at least. He said that it was still somewhat fuzzy around the eyes, but those burn scars across his nose reminded her every single time of what she had done. It didn't make either of them stronger, that fight - it just made them both bitter.
But she could tell he loved her still, and she loved him, and that was what mattered.
Right?
Sounds made her lazy ear perk up (the other was always up, so her hearing was quite normally excellent), the sounds of crunching bones and tearing flesh. Her skin rippled out into goosebumps, and she stopped Nettle where he walked, nudging him to listen. He did so, and he looked at her with fear in his pale, scarred, white eyes.
Then she turned to the noise, and she called out, "Monster! Show yourself!"

He relied on her now more than ever, now that his vision was so bad. Anything more than five feet away was blurry to him, and anything farther just got worse. Fever he could always make out clearly, because she was always so near; her with her perfect, unscarred skin as new as the day she woke up. It was the way it should be, he told himself, with his lightning scars up his legs and his mottled, burned skin across his eyes, and his huge burn mark across his side. He was the one who should be torn up and hurt. Not her. After what they had gone through, he'd realized something.
They only had each other. Always.
So when she stopped him, he stopped immediately, holding his breath, looking around, squinting. He couldn't see anything, but that meant nothing. She called out, and he shivered. Was there a monster? Is that what was making the noise?
He lowered his heavy head, frowning. Whatever it was, he would protect his sister from them. No monster would touch her.
He prepared himself for a fight, his hooves crackling with lightning.

She sat int he shadows of Polaris, watching this with a sick glee. Ohhh, this was perfect, just too perfect, like getting to see a gorgeous bloodbath and getting the best seat for it. Too bad her lovely Dia wasn't here, but she could always send her images through their bond of the fight. Surely her disease would love it, and comment accordingly. She always had the best things to say, her vector; she was a child after her own heart.
No matter who would come out of this encounter - and it would come to a fight, she knew it would - she would benefit. She could bring back the corpses of the two rhinos to Vazi and ridicule and torment him further for not being a good enough protector and 'father' if they lost to the filthy cat, which was entirely possible. Vicktor was....ruthless, now. Delightfully so. And if the two rhinos won...well...that would put the cub out of his misery, and she would gloat over his cold, dead body.
No reason why she couldn't help out these wonderful children, hmm? They would need the guidance of someone older and more mature in these respects, an aficionado of violence and blood, someone to watch over them from the dark. And who better to do so than her?
She smiled. Either way, she won.
She summoned her shadows, her army, her slithering, hissing snakes, and slowly the light in the glittering caves dimmed, tagging after the two rhinos, biting at their heels like loving protectors. Soon they were cloaked in shadow, till they were lost in the dark, the sound of their hooves clicking against the floor the only proof they were even there.

Feasting, entangling himself in the small entrails of the rabbit; happily he devoured it all. Cracking through the last bit of bone and rapidly chowing down on the last few organ he had left. At least until someone spoke up. Ears laid back he listened intently, smacking his sanguine dripping lips...someone was calling out a monster...They were summoning him, there was no doubt about it.
A sneer grew across his jaw as he pulled himself up, not bothering to clean the gore he wore like a second coat. No, he would wear it happily. Only hoping to add their sweet ichor to the beautiful mess he had made. Walking out into view he couldn't help up purr, sneering widely at not one; but two young rhinos. Oh this would be a treat for him! It would hurt, but a treat regardless. No matter the outcome he would enjoy, the throbbing sharp pain in his paw; he let it fuel him. Tease him into battle, excited to taste their flesh through their thick hides.
"You called?"
He called out, toying and questioning the two young ones...One of which controlled the crackle of electricity beneath their feet. Oh now this would be oh so enjoyable; to fight one of his own element. How lucky was he? White piercing eyes scanned the two rhinos, tracing over every bump and bruise they held. Even the scars one of them held was so tantalizing, he would be sure to add more. He would at least promise them that.
All seemed to go well until that darkness snaked in. This was familiar, not natural...but manipulated, controlled from afar like a coward. She must be watching, hadn't she toyed with him enough!? Well no matter, he would start this fight. He would tear the flesh of her presumable children. He always heard rhinos had poor sight, darkness would only falter that wouldn't it? It wouldn't matter to him, he would become a beacon of fire soon enough. Cackling outwards towards the young ones as fire billowed out from his maw. Engulfing his eyes as they echo'd his madness, this would be f̴͇͇u̲̠̠ṇ̭͓̥̥ͅ.

She saw the monster come towards them, and for the very first time in her life, she was afraid.
This.
Was a Monster.
This was what Papa had warned them of, the things that roamed the caves preying on soft, loving herbivores that had no slightest clue how to protect themselves. This was a beast with huge fangs and blood-soaked breath just like Papa had described, someone who would gladly kill both her and her brother both. Even his voice was sickening and wrong, and she felt cold fear grip her heart and her veins, freezing her to the floor.
But then two things happened. One, her brother stopped along with her, and he stood shoulder to shoulder with her. Fire ran through her when she knew he would be with her in this.
Two, and this happened slowly; hissing shadows wrapped out her feet and her brother's, the cold, oily things gripping her and sliding along her back, cloaking both her and her brother in shadow.
Was this...? Was this Papa's Goddess that he always preached of? Was she watching them both, granting her blessing? She lowered her head too, feeling brave. With the Goddess on their side, there's no way they could lose to this monster. Her brother pushed her back behind him, deeper into the dark, and from there, her throat grew hot, and she felt the fuel ready in her throat to lodge at the monster's fur.

He had pushed her back, thinking the exact same things she did. They would fight this awful monster together, with the Goddess to protect them both. Fever would stay safe in the shadows, lobbing her fire from a distance, and he would be at the forefront, her vanguard, her shield.
He had thought before, when they were still young and new, that he would die for her, like he was some aficionado of bravery; well, here was his chance to prove his brave thoughts. From behind him, she lobbed her fuel at the monster, and it stuck to its fur easily enough, it being so easy a target with its terrifying inner glow. The thing was a demon sent to kill them both by the carnivores for being too strong, too powerful at a young age. He set his teeth, and he glared.
He would gladly die to protect his sister from this demon.
When the fuel lodged fast, he called to his electricity to set it off on the monster's fur - the spark to his sister's flame.

She smiled, her teeth bared in a nasty snarling, wild grin, her black, seeping eyes wide. She wanted to laugh at this exchange so badly, but she had to remain silent, out of reach. The nasty cub that had ripped her and Clover open had been set on fire with the two rhino's efforts, hidden in her shadows like a sweet, protective cloth, one of them protecting the other. How wonderful! She knew who would die first, at least, should the cub gain the upper hand.
So while the cub screamed as his flesh went up in flames, she reached for Clover's light magic to set off a miniature sun to go off right in his face, to blind him.
"Suffer as she suffered," She hissed.
