"Speech" | 'Thoughts'
Quietly Cure sat tall and stoic. The once cub, now fully grown, was finally filled out completely. Standing as tall as her father, corded muscles defined easily beneath her slick fur. The horns and gem spikes along her cheeks and atop her scalp had grown as well, curving back further from the bases they reached from. Her long tail was curled along her side as its tip flicked about on its own accord. Gentle sapphire eyes continued to study the gem that was tucked into the crevice of stone flooring and the bones that had been piled high to form the structures she now took home in. Can is was to be her home. Where her loyalties should lie. She had first been brought here after her kidnapping. Had been reunited with her twin and then they had only ever left again when her father had been requested back to the place he said he had been born.

She had been excited to see. Had wanted to explore and see where her parents had spent most of their childhood. Then things turned for the worse. Mama bird had assaulted her twin. Cure had been terrified, scared for the safety of her twin. Kerberos had defending her though and her mama had scoop Remmy up and brought them back here. Where she told them this is where they would stay. That it was safe. Though. She had seen what her twin bad not. She wasn't even sure if her own mother had known the details of the end of that battle. It haunted her dreams even now. Of course in her own secrecy, Cure was happy. That bird had thought to kill her sister. To kill her own daughter. Kerberos had put an end to that threat. The gem before her was a result in that. It had grown since cure had taken it. Not by much, but it certainly wasn't the same size.

Cure had yet to tell her twin about it. Not sure if she should be the one to tell Remmy that her mother had fallen. Though, did her father? Had their father told her that mama bird was no more? Her ears pinned against her skull as a deep sadness gripped at her for her twin. How bad did it hurt to know your birth wanted wanted to kill you because you were a hybrid? She wasn't sure what had been so wrong about being a hybrid. She was a hybrid too. Sure between two leopards, but their species was still different. She envied her sister for being so unique. Not to mention being able to fly had to be pretty awesome.

A sigh escaped her as she rose to her large paws and turned tail to the multicolored gem. She would no longer simply stand by and cower at the site of hostility. She had to get strong. She had to be better. She had to protect her twin against anything that would dare threaten her. Sure they would have their parents to help, but for how long? They wouldn't always be around and the twins were nearly adults now. Cure had to know how to defend herself and protect those she loved. So she would practice. She would guard the gem she had stolen away from Pisces until she felt it time to reveal what she was hiding.

Cure braced herself. Closing her eyes to focus and call upon her magic.

It wasn't long before the sensation overwhelmed her. The heart beat of every creature that took up home within Canis filled her, courses through her entirety. Her eyes opened wide as her breath rushed out of her. She could pinpoint each location. Soon she shook herself, willing the sensation to ebb away.

A grin spread across her features as excitement caught up with her. She had not expected that to go so smoothly. She cast her gaze to the gem behind her, her smile growing before she chuckled lowly before she turned to look at the entrance of the structure she had staked claim to. Hopefully no one had been using this one for their own. There was no giving it up now. Not when the gem behind her had infused to the stone flooring.

Quickly she shook her thoughts and pondered what else she could attempt. Soon she closed her eyes and concentrated once again.

Cure purred thoughtfully as a gentle fog began to slip into the area. It covered the floor, tendrils of mist twirling up from the rolling fog as if it were trying to reach higher. Well. It had not gone as strong as she had wanted, but practice made perfect right? She at least knew she could do it so now it was just trying to get it to work completely. So she released her current hold on that particular skill and hunkered down once again to concentrate and attempt that spell one more time.

It had been time for a break. A well needed break. With having practiced for a good few hours, Cure had felt drained. So it was no hesitant manner for her to slink back over towards the gem that was lodged in the corner of the floor and wall of bones. She had curled up and slept. For how long she was unsure, but now she was awake and well rested. Slowly the hybrid pulled herself up to her paws and with a large yawn exposing her fully grown fangs, Cure stretched out as needed.

Humming softly to herself Cure plopped back on her haunches and glanced blearily back towards the gem only to smile lightly. She was still torn about showing the thing to Remedy. Still didn't know how she may react to it. In fact. She should probably seek her twin out. To make sure she was okay. She knew her mama would take good care of her. There was no doubt about that. Her mama loved Remmy like she was her very own. She would wait a little longer and then go seek out her twin.

For now. She would continue her practices....

...She rose to her paws and moved away from the gem in fear of accidentally harming it in case she failed an attempt on her spells. Once she felt she was a good distance away, but still in the same bone fortress she had staked claim to Cure began to focus. Slowly she closed her eyes, searched for that familiar tug of her magic and once she felt it she clung to it. Her gems on her face and skull seemed to flash lightly and when Cure opened her eyes there was a light glow to them. Her eyes settled on the far wall and before she knew it small spikes of ice began to form just before it.

A grin pulled across her features as she watched the icicles fall to the floor and shatter the moment the tips of the sharp ice shards touched the ground. It was not anything large, but she had still managed something. She knew with practice she would manage much larger things with that particular spell.

Thought it wasn't enough. She had to draw upon her skills more. So she would continue to practice. Quietly she closed her eyes and once again sought out the magic from her gems. Yet, nothing came. A sigh rolled out from Cure as she plopped back on her haunches and she turned her gaze to the direction that led towards the main area of Canis. Quietly she wondered how her parents were faring. She knew they were probably taking it pretty hard considering what had happened. Her mother she wasn't so sure, but what she had heard from Ammy about not pestering her father at the moment...her father was certainly devastated.

A soft sigh escaped her before she shook her thoughts and began to focus again..

Much to Cure's joy her concentration pulled off. She could feel her gems responding brightly and she opened her eyes just in time to see the impressive sized icicles being created in mid air before the all fell towards the ground. "Whoa!" She laughed as she had to suddenly jump back out of the way of a few icicles that came crashing down against the ground and shattering. She grinned even more as she swatted at one of the broken ice chunks. That was probably the best yet. For a moment she wondered what else she could do with that particular spell.

Shaking her thoughts, Cure nodded to herself. It was time to try a different spell.

She paced back and forth, trying to decide what she could possibly do next. An idea soon crossed her mind and she brightened up. This was something her mama could do! She pounced to a new spot before she quickly closed her eyes and tried desperately to concentrate. For what felt like forever she stood there and nothing happened. There wasn't even that ever familiar pull on her horns when her magic was used. A growl vibrated her chest as she stomped a paw onto the ground and lashed her tail around. she would not give up. She would try again and again until she got it right.

For a moment she wondered if others would find her neurotic for standing guard over a gem that had only passed into her possession on sheer luck. All the while trying to practice all her spells. Cure supposed that even if they did that she would inevitably not care. Her last failed attempt at a spell was still strong on her mind, causing her concentration to waver in just the slightest, but she wouldn't give up. She couldn't. How could she ever hope to protect anyone if she were going to just give up because of failing at something. She had to rise above her failures. She had to learn from them....

Kerberos had waited until his facial wounds were healed-- it had taken a feverish lick-bath to wash away the blood, and the cuts were still fairly fresh and scabbed over-- but hopefully he wasn't a terrifying sight to be seen. The canine wandered through Canis looking for Remedy, hoping to apologize to her, if need be. He had killed her mother... Though he hoped that she understood why. Sometimes gembounds were too dangerous for their own good.

... It had been an accident, anyway. Kerberos just wanted to stop Bevy, not slaughter her. She had saved his brother, had known his mother long than he himself had. It felt like he was destroying everything good in the world, piece by piece, but he would find a way to protect what was left. He stopped as he caught sight of Cure, though her fur shifted colors and blended into the bonefilled landscape as he spotted her black coat.

"Cure?" One head woofed softly as he padded closer, wondering if she was angry as well, like her father. Did she know Bevy, did she mourn? Would he have to face her magic, like she had Cancer's? The middle head of the dog pressed under another head, hiding in chest fluff-- it whined softly, but otherwise did not speak.

"Are you alright?" He asked as he drew closer to where he had last seen her, finding it hard to pick her out from the dusty earth. "I won't hurt you, I promise," he offered, timidly, his tail dragging limply behind him as he approached the feline and the stone she was guarding.

Excitement washed over the feline as she watched as here fur began to shift and change until she ultimately blended in almost perfectly into her surroundings. Laughter bubbled from her as she bounced around in her fortress for a moment, curious to see how long the spell would last. It was in that moment that she heard a voice and soon the sound of approaching foot steps. Cure's head swung around as she perked her ears and as soon as she saw the large three headed beast a bright smile tugged at her features. Though, his words reached her and she began to scowl as she lowered her head. Why did he think she thought he was going to hurt her? She shook her head and instantly released her magic and smiled warmly at the beast.

"Kerberos. I'm happy to see you," She purred gently as she trotted towards him. She took no hesitation to rub affectionately along the front of one of his large legs. Even with her fully grown he was still far much bigger than she ever would be. "Are you alright, kerby?" She questioned as she took a few steps back to be able to look up and see all three heads easily and lazily plopped back onto her haunches. One leg was stretched out in a relaxed manner while the other remained in place to keep her balanced.

For a moment she wondered what brought on his sudden visit. It wasn't often the big pup came to see her. Cure was very happy that he did though. She kept her warm smile pointed at him even as her thoughts began to drift off. Did he know? Did he know she had hidden one of Bevy's gems within the Fortress just behind her? The idea of it left Cure curious to know what he would think if he did. She hadn't even told Remedy or her father yet, but with them she was hesitant. Unsure how either of the two would react. She supposed of Kerberos didn't know about it just yet Cure would tell him, but not yet. Right now she just wanted to have conversation with the great beast.
